Hi guys, nice bunch of ideas, thanks. So when I noted and analyzed all, seems that we have here four major categories
  • better work with online/offline LoPoints
  • robust search system
  • dashboard improvements
  • geocaching features

Where
2. search system is currently (already for a few months) in massive rework. During the next week or two will be in Beta a completely new online search. More about it later ...

LoPoints & Dashboard are very high on my priority list, so definitely something I would like to work on this year.

And geocaching ... good question. Will have to think a little more.

---

Other smaller tasks
- backup system: agree, I'll look at it soon
- 3D maps: huge amount of work that still does not worth it I believe
- recording statistics: I would love to see them too, but we are not the majority :)
- live tracking: I know, sorry @joeloc. This has to start with a rework of our old server and uniting it to a new web.locusmap.app site. I'll try to push it a little more.

Yes, engines for LoMaps and OAM will be the same. And current Locus Map has already a highly enhanced MapsForge library version. I'll inform @voldapet about this, because we were playing with word wrap and ...

Tasker / Re: Locus Tasker addon not working
March 09, 2023, 12:46:53
I'm not much skilled with tasker (unfortunately), but a simple task I made to execute quick bookmark, seems to work as expected, interesting. Do you think there are exact steps I may try to simulate this issue?

Hello,
in the Mobac should be a so-called "RMaps SQLite" format, so this is the best you may use.

And MapsForge maps, right this is a base app format, perfect.

Hi guys.
Again big help with work on this new version. Not everything is probably final. Field test may reveal some remaining problems in the new compute of elevation values + prepared support for new V4 LoMaps...

The last few weeks were not too productive in the "Locus for Android" world. I've promised to prepare support for DXF to Locus GIS for Petr and in the end, I've spent almost three weeks on preparing the GDAL library, uff. Most work is finally done so time to spend more time with Locus Map, finally :).

We have of course some plans and things that need to be done, but still ... simple question (that may influence my personal preferences). What is the biggest pain/requirement you mostly have with the app, I should solve during the next cca 3-9 months? I have in mind a few main categories:

- backup system (united small and full backup & allow to set personal preferences what to backup)
- improve dashboard (missing items, simplify edit, improve charts, ...)
- management of the track waypoints (old topic)
- missing geocaching features (long list of missing features starting by live-map, mass edit & upload of notes etc)

Anything else serious?

Troubles & Questions / Re: Pay LM4 with LoCoins
March 08, 2023, 08:08:00
Hi, ah I see. It is a problem on our server that does not send Gold subs item in case, user does not have enough LoCoins, we will fix it, thanks.

The system of backups needs to recreate. I wrote about it a few days ago (again). So use it as is. I need to find a time (week or rather too) and unite "settings" + "full" backups into a single system with options ...

Hi Viajero,
yes, this is a little bit different feature. In the side "Map content" panel, tap on the "Geotagged photos" text, not the icon. Here you get a list of places in the device, where Locus Map search for photos and displays them on the map. By default, it should be only from the DCIM directory so it should be your personal local photos.

Photos you attach to LoPoints (thanks for this!) are stored in the Pictures\Locus Map\LoPoints\ directory so feel free to add this directory to "Geotagged photos" if interested.

The best method to check your own LoPoints photos and their statistics is in your profile (Main menu > top profile button) > My LoPoint photos.

Simply "Main menu button" is ok ;)

@svartbjorn sure I remember. Welcome back  ;).
And amazing ... thanks. I'll probably never be satisfied so can't fully agree, but yes, some nice features are there compare to Classic and some are in preparation (for example now we are finishing completely new search system, uff) :D

@lor74cas
hmm back button to the menu ... it is something I'm not perfectly OK with. The list of functions, even if it looks like a full screen, is closing when any function starts (like a small dialog). So "back" has nowhere to return. And I personally never had a problem with it.

@CabrioTourer
auto-loading: I saw something like this before as well. Hard to say if I'll be able to help, we will see :)
..
Ah solved with the theme. Interesting!

@Tapio
by default, LoPoints scale with the "Magnify all maps" value. You may overwrite this setting with the "LoPoint icon size" settings. The fact that points do not scale with "Zoom lock" is correct from my point of view. With the next (new) LoMaps, points won't be visible directly on the map at all, so what you see (scaled point in the map & active point above) won't happen anymore.

@T-mo & @freischneider
I plan to re-work online&offline LoPoints system in the next months (unite & simplify), thanks for your patience.

@Andrew Heard
Sorry, it was task 5-minutes before release and I've not tested it properly, my bad. Will look at it!
Anyway what is the problem with naming? Simple " - copy" in the end should be improved?

New Beta version 4.14.2.4 just uploaded.

@lor74cas
This is a topic I was thinking about a few weeks ago. First, currently best solution I have, is in the weather screen. Cross button in the top-left that always closes the screen + hardware back allowing return from detail to full overview or close also.

Which screen has currently a major problems?

Hi Andrew,
hmm, I'll check it because it looks more like a problem (yes, again) with -180/180 border. I'm sure for countries away from this longitude, it will work correctly and all necessary data will be available.

Locus Map / Re: [APP] - version 4.14.+ ( 1/2023 )
February 28, 2023, 14:32:22
@joeloc
with Locus Map 4, you may hide everything except @ symbol. And this one will be semi-transparent with the next app version. This is ok, isn't it?

Downloading speed for OAM maps: hard to say. I've increased mentioned buffer a little, so let me know if it helps. Anyway, everything on the background is quite new so there should be no software slowdown.

@CabrioTourer
auto-load of V4 maps does not work? Hmm ... (after some testing) ... it worked before?? Do not understand how this was possible. Anyway, I've found a method how to make it work so the next version.

Important: because the next LoMaps will be also based on the V4 theme, I've improved the auto-loading system. The app will auto-load only LoMaps when the base map is LoMap and the opposite. So it won't do a mess by auto-loading incorrect maps (maps with different content & theme). Needs testing though.

@Andrew Heard
Duplication of presets > oki, next version

@Tapio
intent to start recording: blame Google! Anyway  ;) ... check app is not battery optimized. Probably best to open the side track recording panel. There should be no!! blue box that informs about battery optimization. Then it should work.

New version with some fixes tomorrow.

Hello,
no, it is not possible. "KML networking link" is an amazing feature that allows dealing with dynamically changing content. Locus Map is unable to directly download and import current content on the server. Such a feature is not implemented, sorry.

The solution is to extract link(s) from the KML file and download & import manually.
