But I didn't ask Locus to show something else... IMO that makes no sense in a search context.
And tapping those points (without without really knowing what they are) makes the search results disappear.

Speaking of "making sense" - sometimes the whole bottom window is just not useful. Of course depends on the results, but maybe you can add something useful, like distance, idk... Screenshot related.

Will you unify the offline LoPoints system as well at some point?

A problem: see screenshot, if I tap on the parking icons on map one by one, then accidentally miss one and tap beside it, the search is gone.

Agreed. And while recording a track, this is not even a reasonable workaround.

Also noticed crashes. IDK, showing results on map, then dragging map, crash at some point.

Oh, I notice a disadvantage: there is no possibility to browse POI categories hierarchically.

If I pick a category like "Shelter", it displays other categories like peaks, as dots. But I didn't ask for those. Their color permanently changes while moving map.

First thoughts about the search. It's a good approach.

1. Preferable for the average user base.
2. The offline db based search screams for the same unification? I'd really love it.
3. Problem. Entered a street name. First few letters typed it was good priorities, closest town street appeared, but after more letters similar streets from more important cities appeared and the street here in close vicinity wasn't listed any more.
4. Some Icons are just too small for this type of dialoue - peaks
5. The Hamburger Menu is every time shaking, if I use another search. Not just one time in order to take notice
6. Screenshot. That screen can be removed. It was some approach of Menion to make offline search easier. But people who use it don't need that. It's somewhat disturbing the ui flow. I always go back as a first step there
7. Results, presentation on map... it's special 😁 Will need more testing first before I comment.

@Saturo I can pencil it in on my to do list. It would be a significant feature in those countries that support that kind of trail marking.

In Settler theme it was pretty good, but he removed it. Probably wants perfection. There were always cases where the text like "A3" did not show up. No matter what you do, like using display="always" for the text.

I already see problems in Elevate, screenshot.

Man kann übrigens die beiden tracks*-Dateien aus /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/menion.android.locus/files/Locus/data/database/
rausnehmen, Locus legt dann beim Start eine neue, leere Trackdatenbank an.

Wenn es also dann durchgestartet ist, kann man wieder Backups einspielen, Importe machen etc.

Locus startet ja nicht durch. Da ich auch von einer kaputten Datenbank ausgehe, würde ich diese gezielt durch eine aus dem Backup ersetzen.

@zobo. Backups sind in etwa hier: /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/menion.android.locus/files/Locus/backup
Darin siehe zip-Dateien, in der zip ist die data/database/tracks.db von Interesse.

Und hier liegt die derzeit aktive Datenbank: /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/menion.android.locus/files/Locus/data/database/

Falls Hantieren mit Dateien nicht so Dein Ding ist, lasse Dir besser im Locus Helpdesk helfen.
 

The red button while recording a track does NOT auto-hide, even though it's configured to do so in Settings.

I wanted to report it once, but then I realized it's probably on purpose. It does not autohide only if a recording is active. It's debatable. I'm undecided and can live with it the way it is.

Fakt ist allerdings, dass im Zusammenhang mit den Presets die Bedeutung der gegenseitigen Abhängigkeiten nicht ausreichen berücksichtigt wurde. Man war sich dieser Bedeutung nicht bewusst, sonst, und so habe ich es auch geschrieben, hätte er (verm. Menion) meiner Meinung mit Sicherheit nicht für jedes Preset eine eigene Liste der zu berücksichtigenden Optionen eingeführt.

Was Du immer philosophierst. Vermutlich hat er einfach und schnell ein paar Beispiel-Presets zusammengezimmert. Deine Folgerung ist nicht notwendigerweise richtig - man kann bei vollem Bewusstsein ein einfaches System mit dem Wissen über mögliche Nachteile und Seiteneffekte (wg. der unbestimmten Größe/Schnittmenge der Mengen) implementieren.

Sich in einem so komplexen Projekt, wie es Locus ist, der Bedeutung von irgend welchen Abhängigkeiten nicht bewusst zu sein, ist keine Schande und ich habe zum Ausdruck gebracht, dass andernfalls mit Sicherheit das Handling für die Presets anders anders gestaltet worden wäre.

Einspruch wg. siehe oben. Ich vermute, das Thema hat beim User wenig Relevanz da ich annehme, dass Presets tendenziell eher umfassend gestaltet werden, also eine große Menge an Einstellungen beinhalten. Weil, so sind die Frickler-Nutzer eben.

Was soll das?

Ein Hinweis (den ich wieder löschte) darauf, dass ASAMM ein Unternehmen ist, das Ergebnisse erzeugt und kein 50-köpfiges Philosophie-, Diskussions- und Dokumentationsgremium hat. Menion ist sich des Preset-Systems sicher sehr bewusst. Es ist einfach gehalten - er hat auch gelegentlich darauf hingewiesen, dass das so bleiben soll.

Ich ahne, Du meinst es gut. Du bist aber unheimlich nervig.

Well, the description indeed is a bit different here, but as always, the checkbox only defines if the setting is included in the preset. Everything is fine.

Menion, if the backup includes everything that is supported, please describe it as "complete backup" - because otherwise we need to double check.
