@macfrank - my apologies; I incorrectly assumed you were having a complaint about LM4 costing more $'s

similar to this? https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/40552-3rd-x-axis-chart-option-time-of-day

I use 2 different folders?

Whilst I do think the advantages of LM4 over LM3 clearly outweigh the disadvantages, some of the issues you've highlighted are valid, and if those are important to you, it's understandable that you'd prefer to use LM3 (again).

LM4 displays all the track information straight away; one of LM3's advantages is that the information on track points can be accessed more quickly. I'd also have liked the timestamp for the track point I clicked on to be displayed more easily or immediately – it's actually more fiddly in LM4. This has already been pointed out several times here in the forum and/or on the helpdesk.

Ok, I accidentally pressed shift when typing LM4 :) I'm a dev myself, so payment is not the main issue.

I wont go into details re the screenshots as I and others did so in the help system already.
Also these are only two examples.
In the 2nd one: LM3 shows instandly the info I need on the popup. Next tap let's me do the things I need often. LM4 at first shows info I dont need, annoyingly centers the tap position on the map and overall the remaining map space is too small.
Re the elevation: TOO SMALL and doesnt show the timestamp of the selected position (i.e. 11:27).
I dont need the other diagrams, but if so I can overlay them in LM3.
So, overall I feel useful features were taken away or buried to deep, UI space is wasted and also features I hoped for never came. Also I realised (suprisingly) that I'd rather separate points and tracks in the lib - at first I was excited about the new possibilities but then I found myself using the filters, so things got more complicated than before.

Hello Rafael,

I originally designed Lidar2Map for my own use, because I love discovering old paths hidden beneath vegetation.

I often explore forests with a saw and pruning shears, looking for traces of past human activity far from cities: forgotten paths, dry-stone terraces, ruins, charcoal-burning sites, lime kilns, and more.

I usually prepare my explorations with QGIS, which can read most of the files generated by Lidar2Map, including MBTiles and GeoJSON. Then, in the field, I use Locus Map to explore and navigate, comparing my position with the remains revealed by the LiDAR data.

I'm glad that SVF seems useful for finding paths and hiking tracks. I hope Lidar2Map will help you discover many interesting places!

Regards,
Nico

on the sub-topic of LM3 <> LM$ - can we expect a small team of developers to work for free? Apple & Google & other huge advertising companies have given us unrealistic expectations.

Apologies for jumping in here briefly:

I imagine that macfrank is missing the ability to adjust the vertical scale or zoom in on the elevation graph. It would be useful for taking a closer look at a short section of incline or decline; I sometimes find myself wishing for that option too. Perhaps something can be done about it.

Hello Nico,

No problem with the new release. I tested Slope, LRM, RRIM and SVF output type. Everything works well.

I read the guide (in French). It is technical as it must be and even if I did not understood everything, I understood small things which help me.

I'm testing different outputs type and parameters, but at this step, SVF seems good to see path and tracks for hiking. I will continue.

Thanks again for this tool and the fast answers.

Regards
Rafael

Hi @macfrank

thanks for the screenshots. I understand the first image > My library. There was a long discussion about it.

But I do not understand the problem in the second screenshot and the recent big changes in the chart system. If you have a moment and want to tell me more, I'll gladly discuss this.

Ok, that's it. After two years or so I've finally had enough.
For me LM4's usability was on a steady decline and after the latest mess up with the elevation diagram I decided to reactivate LM3. It will take some time to migrate my data over, but that's just a weekend's task - a bit like cleaning up the house :)

Attached some of the features LM3 vs. LM4 that I use most.
I think the screeenshots speak for themselves.

so long and thanks for all the fish

So, Fehler endlich gefunden. Übeltäter ist das integrierte Tool GC Live map. Das habe ich jetzt abgeschaltet, der Fehler ist weg   :)

Gruss und Danke für die Bemühungen 👏
