Other features / Re: Online search
May 11, 2023, 12:34:17
Hi, in the initial view of search suggestion, there are some most common POI categories which users might want to look for, but they are indeed not all. You can get others by taping their name.

How important is for you to have ability to go through whole list (tree) of them like it is possible for offline POIs now? Do you just need to know how many of them are supported or want to use such list during some real search? Thanks

It's important to note, that this new online search is primarily build for, you guess it, search things. :) That being said, we have plans to review ability to highlight POI categories on the map more permanently in different manner - including highlighting more than one category on the same time, so it allow you to use it for planning more effectively in case you want to use it this way. But that is little bit different story for us.

Hi!

Garmin addon for Locus Map is meant to be used with connected phone with the app, so it can't help you with this scenario. If you want to be on your adventures only with your Garmin, you have to rely on its own capabilities, which of course include track recording.

However I doubt you can easily get compass data from it without some processing of directions from track data, but I might be wrong in this. You can export tracks in GPX from their Garmin Connect service once you synchronize your watch with it and import it to your Library in Locus Map.

As for the last question:  in some future we may implement sync of Locus Map Library with Garmin Connect to automatically retrieve tracks from it once they are recorded, but this is not yet confirmed yet, so any promises there.

Well, there are lots of Garmin watch models nowadays. It all depend on your need for advanced fitness metrics, type of the screen, ruggedness, and budget. Basically any will do the job in some form. :)

iOS version / Re: Locus on iPhone

Hi, we hope to release first public test versions in the first half of this year. But as Menion mentioned, please don't expect full-blown Locus Map yet. It will be much simpler version for the start. Of course, it will be just the beginning for us though.  ;)

Web portal & sync / Re: Hide to bar in web planner

Hi! Well, I fully understand the request, but honestly it is quite low on our priority list for now as it would bring various challenges in the UI which would need to be solved differently and for now we rather spend the time on what we believe even more useful updates. But once the time will be right, we will consider it again!

Hi, this is often requested, but not supported unfortunately. I also can't promise it someday will be as it is really challenging to implementing without too much compromises.

Locus Map for Garmin / Re: Locus Map for Garmin

Hi, the purpose of the app was never to utilize Garmin GPS for Locus Map on the phone, although several times requested. This is not supported and can't promise I will be able to implement it in the future.

Also, recommendation to downgrade to version 4.19 is no longer valid as it is quite old version (not supporting new devices). If it is still working for you, feel free to use it, but I would not recommend it anymore. That unfortunately means loss of map streaming feature, which is shame but can't do anything about it.

Hi guys, thanks for this discussion, all noted.  ;) We are for sure aware of benefits of making all changes in the POIs easier.  We are planning to analyse our further steps related to this topic in upcoming months as there are several possible paths for the future.

For now and in this thread, we are focusing to properly beta-test "LoMedia" attachments to LoPoints. Now mainly technical side and "intuitiveness" of the process as other updates related to user's motivation to upload their photo are on the way.  :) Feel free to use last beta of Locus Map to upload photos which will already be shown to others in public version. They already goes to final DB, so you can be one of the first to provide such media content on our platform. ;)

Hi Dirk,
most likely you logged in on the web this time via Google or Facebook not having these login methods paired with any of account yet. Registration process is not yet finalized on our web, thus this message.

Hi, you probably missed, that shorter period of one-time payment is for 3 months vs 1 month for subscription plan.

Hi sbouju, completely missed your post, sorry. Not sure what is the problem in your case honestly!  :-\ Does it happening even if you leave Locus Map for Garmin app open on your smartphone?

@mfink Yep, we have draft of changes which enables you to better pair icons on Locus with the new Fenix devices showing. But it is not that easy as various Garmin models have different icon sets.

Hi, map streaming feature is discontinued in Locus Map for Garmin for now, because of limitation on Garmin side. It is usable only in case your phone doesn't have access to the internet. Also it is quite slow on Venu, because of the size of transferred images, so I would definitely do not recommend to buy new device only because of that, as you would be disappointed.

In case you would want to use it anyway, zoom can be done by holding MENU button to access zoom mode and then changing zoom by swiping up or down on the map screen.

Hi, support for Instinct 2 coming soon. But it will not contain support for map streaming from the phone, it has too low memory fot that.

Locus Map for Garmin / Re: Locus Map for Garmin

Hi @mfink , Fenix 6  can't launch other app while running different one - be it either CIQ or native. So you can't do import during activity.

I was referring to native garmin nav features. Something is not correctly setuped on your side, because Locus Map for Garmin should not block TbT info in tracks during transfer - although it is long time when I tested this last time.

@mfink It sends FIT file to Garmin watch and you can for sure use it to transfer Turn-by-turn instructions. But you must check how you have configured navigation on your Garmin device - it can either utilise this preconfigured TbT or generate its own based on internal map data. If you setup it right, you should have full control of TbT via Locus Map.
