iOS version / version 1.8.0
May 26, 2026, 10:11:17
Hi,
Locus Map LITE v1.8.0 brings following:

1) early version of in-app route planner.
You can now plan your route within the app by selecting route "shaping points" from LoPoints, user waypoints or simply anywhere on the map and online router will calculate route for you  based on what activity have you choose. By unchecking "apply to entire route" toggle, you can already plan independent segments of the route by different routing profiles if you wish to do so. We prioritized planning via map for first planner version. If you are familiar with planner on our Android version, you shouldn't have issue to learn how to control it. Otherwise let us know how hard or intuitive it is for first comers! Route can then be shared by the URL link or saved to your Library.
There are of course lots of missing pieces which we want to bring in near future. First will be ability to drag&drop shaping points on the map so you don't need to delete part of the route and recreate it. This is for sure missing the most on the this first version. Next would be ability to fully plan within itinerary panel and later we will work also on advanced features like custom parameters for route profiles, ability to add "via points", path surfaces etc..

2) iPad UX redesign - "bottom sheets" are now opened on the side of the screen so you will not loose your focus on the map. Great for planning on big screen!

3) you can now search coordinates completely offline and the app should be able to parse all mostly used formats.

1.8.0 Version is currently released in the BETA group and soon published to AppStore for everyone. We would love to hear your experience with it!

Hello!

To our BETA testers, we can finally present pre-release version 1.5.2 with completely new vector based world-wide LoMaps and LoPoints database, on which we have worked on for recent months. Both online and offline!

Our default tourist maps were rebuilt from scratch and are providing numerous improvements compared to their previous generation, including better rendering of tourist or bike paths in various zoom levels. The maps are no longer rasterized, so you can rotate them and have texts in correct orientation or enjoy smoother zooming. Maps are already generated with whole-world coverage, so any region you might be interested in is ready to be explored or downloaded. Maps are also complemented by altitude data to render map shading which greatly improve orientation on hilly terrain.

With new maps you are getting also new generation of our POIs database, which is streamed or downloaded together with the maps data. Among others it allows you to search for POIs in downloaded regions even without internet connectivity.

Both online and offline data are the same, which allows the app to seamlessly transition between regions with offline data and others. There are only few exceptions like hill shading data or POI community content being loaded from the internet even in downloaded regions in the default mode. And speaking of modes, there is automatic mode which handles map and other content switching for you, or you can force the app to use only offline or online data if you have reason for it and know what you doing.  :)

For now, offline maps are available to Gold Premium users or to everyone who didn't yet spend their 3 free downloads presents.

There are huge amount of app and infrastructure changes under this version, so please let us know your feedback or if something is not working as expected!

Thanks

P.S. In case you would willing to help us occasionally testing some hot stuff and want to join our iOS BETA community to get access to some features prior their public release, let us know your Apple ID and Locus account via private ticket in our helpdesk: https://help.locusmap.eu/ticket/add

Hello to everyone who is waiting for Locus Map on iOS.

We are not there yet, but we believe we are on right track. We just released our first version of Locus Map Lite in Apple Store. Click on the link to learn about its current capabilities and download it.

https://www.locusmap.app/ios/

For some of you, current feature set will not be enough, but some will be glad to use the app even now. And we will be working hard to bring missing and most requested features, with offline maps being one of the highest priority.

It was long way from there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYn0u-0yuCA  :D

Tell us your feedback and help us to shape the app for the future!
