Hi,

could I use the locus maps on a Garmin Fenix 5x watch?
I am used now to the locus map style, but a smart watch like the Fenix has during hiking also some advantages if you just want a quick look whether you are still on the right track. Also the  gpstracking time with 32h on the the Fenix 5x plus is much longer than on a "normal" smartphone.

so with one of the last locus versions, I was migrated to the new locus vector map store and my donwload account was converted into the new store "currency".

So far so good. But what I am missing is now the information when new maps of my exisiting allready downloaded maps are available. In the past when I was entering the download area I got a information which of my maps have a newer version and than I could download those ones.

This was quite helpfull and I am missing this at the moment - or I do not figure out the right handling of the new system.

I would like to see a table like this:

Existing maps on device Version - New map Version anch a check mark for update.

I have a good amount of downloaded maps (all Europe, North America, and some Asia) so going through one by one would be a pain.

I also hope that the new system is taking "volume discount" somehow into consideration that I can keep updating the maps I have    ;-)   (I always bought the largest download volume ...  I am a "hunter and collector and like to "travel on maps")

not sure whether this is discussed already.

I want to use to make a catalog of my farmland. For example mark all fruit trees we have (apple, plum peaches, etc). So I would like to create a "Tree database" with userdefined icons for each type of tree but also the content of the database cells. For example to predefine the cell for the typ of tree with tree types I have, another cell should have a ID number, age, health, harvest over the years and much more.

Do I need to program such a thing or is there somewhere a database creator/editor which is allowing me such a thing on a user level?

Is there a recomendation for a icon creator program? That I can create my own icons for POI?

Another example would be a database with icons for the infrastructure of the farm land, such as springs or forest or feeding stations for the wild animals

At the end I want to synchronize the data with a PC or the Cloud that each family member could update the data and could add data, so that over time the information is growing

not quite sure whether this is a real problem but it happened to me now the 2nd time:
After updating my vector maps the map file which I was actually using is corrupt.
I was using Austria and after the update there is a error message that the Austria map is not working.
In fact it is not existing.
I am absolutely sure that I was downloading and extracting the Austria map during the updating procedure.
Last time I was updating the maps I remember that it was the same problem - different locus version.

edit
Double checked:
The file name of the Austria vector map is existing but the file size is 0
Ok - Austria is small - but not that small...  ;-)

have you seen my last note?

After a reboot I am getting a new locus folder on my internal memory card. It is completely empty but on the next start of locus I get the warning that 2 folders are existing.

Could this have something to do with the automatic saving feature?

what type of coordinate system I have to use to import a - let's say a kmz file - into locus and see it.

The reason is that I got a kmz file with the borders of my ground but after the import into locus I see it in the very west of Canada and not in Austria...

it would be nice to see the remaining download volume for the vector maps in the download manager and not only in the locus store.

Another question is what will happen if I have -let's say - 100MByte left but started a map download of 102 MByte?

- will the download start?
- will it finish the total 102 MByte?
- or will it stop at 100 MByte because I am running out of my volume?

Edit: Maybe I should mention that I updated to 2.9.0 from 2.8.7 and have used locus just this evening after the update but I do not know whether this has something to do with my problem

somehow I messed up with the vector maps folder settings.

I have added the folder
.../Locus/mapsVector/
manually again to the folder list, but now if I go to the vector map download  manager locus does not recognize my maps which I have already donwloaded.

Is there  a way that I can get back the default setting and also to do something like a folder scan to get back my previous status?

Which directories I need to copy from the old to the new phone to keep my data?

I have identified so far:

- mapsVector
- data

but not sure whether I should copy everything what is inside "data"

I was asking this question in the past already but I am not sure whether there is a function in the meantime.

My problem is that if I am changing the map that the 1st location is the previous old one and that could be way off.

For example I was flying to Canada and want check my destination in the plane but get only the previous coordinates and therefore a white map

So I would like to have a button that I could jump to the centre of a new loaded map

my account expired today 1st of July to download maps (I think I bought it last year when this concept came out). So I just wanted to use the in app buying from locus.
unfortunatly in my custom rom the market is somehow screwed up and I cannot use it to buy apps. I can update apps which I bought no problem, I can also buy apps via pc, but not directly from the device.

So is there any chance to buy a download package via the pc and not only via the in app buying feature?

I was not keeping track the very recent developments, so maybe this is just a noob question:

Is it possible in the meantime to download the vector maps via PC and install it than on the phone?
(I have the pro version and if that woudl require a new account with a reasonable amount of money involved would do it)

The reason is that I would like to to have the maps "ready" and than push it to the phone rather than downlaoding several hundereds of MByte via the phone.

I would also be interested to set up a "private" openstreet map server (if this is possible) to be able to adjust the zoom level to my needs and not struggle with download rates.  Maybe this could be a modell that if a number of users are doing that and cross setup accounts to reduce the download traffic?

Edit: I found the thread about the "Data path" but I am still not sure whether locus will use it also as the standard "storage" path.

I have a new Galaxy Note which has a "internal" sd card and could have also a "external" sd card.

Is locus already prepared to use this external sd card for all storage actions?

The mounting point is "/mnt/sdcard/external_sd/"

I do not know whether this is standard for all android devices which are using a internal and external sd .

I know I could set a folder to scan also for maps, but does this mean that locus is using this folder also for the storage of new maps?

Hi,

I have "grouped" my POI in different Categories and not only within Favorites.

But the problem is that if you want to use the function to Navigate from 1 POI to another POI you only could access those POI which are stored with the Favorites and not within other Categories.

I had alos no luch yet to move 1 POI from Category A into another Category - for example into Favorites.

for my taste on my HTC-Sensation the street names are realy looking tiny in locus.

Google maps has a 3rd party addon (found in google maps  under "Google Labs")

You can the difference easily if you look the google maps by locus and than by google.

ich suche wo ich die Schriftgröße für die Strassennamen "richtig" einstellen kann. Bei locus ist das alle sehr sehr klein, egal welche Karte man wählt, OSM, google, etc.

Bei google maps werden die Strassennamen größer dargestellt, das suche ich auch bei locus.

ich habe ein paar Vektor KArten geladen und wollte ein wenig "herumspielen".

Wie komme ich in den Kartenbereich von Canada wenn ich in Österreich sitze? Ich markiere z.B Ontario, da ich aber in Österreich sitze wird natürlich nichts angezeigt. Eine Funktionwie "springe zur aktiven KArte" oder so etwas ähnliches habe ich nicht gefunden.
