First look:
Map manager is great and simple.

May be a misunderstanding. ..
Track with guiding has now only color and style from folder but mode (gradient, elevation) is still not available. Am I wrong in expectations?

To be true, I did not test it precisely. And seems that there are still some issues ... hmm, thanks, I'm going to check it.

EDIT:: hmm tested. So in the end, it seems to work correctly. Only issue you see is, that generated track used for guidance from original track, do not know speed and alitude values, so mode is not correctly visible. I've added at least fill of altitude before guidance (in case of Pro version with available HGT files), so it should correctly display values based on altitude.

EDIT2: hmm back, even an altitude should be filled! Do you have HGT files in area where you try guidance?

Yes, all hgt files are available. Altitude fill is correctly displayed in original track.

Hmm this is really weird.

So to sumarize it:

- you have track which has defined style from it's parent folder. This folder has defined style for tracks with enabled coloring mode based on "Altitude", right?

- in area where track lies, exists offline HGT data, right? (you may test it by enabling shading for example)

- when you enable guidance, width of track remains correct (defined by folder), but is visible defined color and not color generated by altitude right?

So, after some more tests, I found and issue with using style of track from folder, so you may be right! Anyway please try to define similar style to track itself and let track use it. Then try guidance. Seems that Locus always take style from track itself and not from folder (if defined).

Already tried. Guidance takes style from track only :(
But stay calm. Just now is much better than two line styles as overlay. Can wait 'till next version.

is this fix related to tapping forward button in Track Edit mode, eg. for "circular loop" within a track, and the cursor never moves to the final point? it has been discussed in 3.8.x forum many times I think. See attached file from @0709 <kouterbosstraat.tcx> - if you continually tap forward button you just go around and around the loop instead of following the correct order towards the finish. The trackpoints look correct in Notepad or GPS Track Editor or BaseCamp. So not possible to edit some track points.

I was fortunately able to simulate same issue on my old forgotten Xperia device. Anyway it looks like issue in Android itself. After some fight, only solution that works correctly seems to be add icon on right side. It looks little bit ... different :). But it works, which is important I believe!

@Andrew Heard: nono, last mentioned fix was in case, you have track in both directions, you choose second point (so point that lay on track back) and convert this point to navigation point. In previous versions it converted first point and not correctly the second one.

Exactly so. Like for navigation for guiding it would be also useful to have following track visually distinguished from passed track. On the other side it would be also useful to have still somehow original track colouring (elevation change etc.) available. The same for navigation route (disables setting own linestyle already)

Not so, guidance track uses all the style of saved track (which is good ofcourse).
But similar to navigating track the remaining part from upcoming waypoint on should be visually differenced too.

I don't like the entry too. Maybe it could be visible only for devices with synced fb accounts and /or facebook app installed (or removable all fb entries via config.cfg) I agree that for devices not using fb this is only space waster.

The first time I tried to post to facebook, locus asked for my details etc then failed posting to facebook as well.

I restarted locus and now it works posting to facebook :) Try restarting locus after it has your facebook details - seems to work from then on.

One complaint though - I dont like the drop down options of "cycling" or "running" or "walking" considering my tracks are none of those ;)

My tracks are all offroad driving, or kayaking, or boating trips, or "trolling" records for fishing purposes - so "daniel biked 15kms" doesnt really work when its showing a track over the ocean for example hahhahah (no biggy though to be honest but maybe something to optimise later with a customiseable version perhaps - or just a generic option like "travelled" which could encompass all activitys as an extra option in the list)

I dont mind the feature - saves me taking screenshots of multiple pages to get both the map and some of the distance details etc onto facebook :)

And how much you care about "Compute area"? No one ever complained about extra button. It is just Facebook is small "nightmare" to half of world, and "heaven" for second ;). Btw. help.locusmap.eu

@prawns: you may see after posting a nice map preview with some details. This preview is generated automatically by facebook. This their system is anyway part of "Fitness" activities (you may see somewhere on FB section called fitness), so they allow only these three options - walk, running, cycling.

I'm thinking about ability to generate some map preview, attach photos and allow publishing this as common post, not as a "Fitness". But still no idea on Facebook or email that say me users are interested in this. So I have to wait ... :).

@gynta: heh, I have this feature in my mind at least once per month and I'm still waiting on some amazing idea how this all solve once forever ...

Mine was working fine to post to facebook last night (shared multiple tracks to my facebook as a test)

But this morning - back to error. I got the both the errors exactly as they appeared below - They appear in a orange box at the bottom of locus and say
"Facebook
Bad Request"

then after a couple seconds the orange box disapears and another orange box pops up saying "process unsuccessful"

Tried signing into facebook from locus (click the "door" icon up the top right of page) and it says "login valid" but still errors with the above errors again if i try to post

Wierd - worked last night so i did a couple tests

My shorter recorded tracks are posting fine (eg 15km trips) but when i try to post a 88km trip i get the error. Tried a couple times for the same result (shorter tracks working, longer tracks not)

I took screenshots but cant see a button to attach them, so I included the links of them to photobucket (first 2 are errors, last ones a successful post of a shorter track and what it looks like on facebook)

Since the latest upgrade my 4×1 widget has started locking up randomly. The pause button goes amber, just as when initialising on start up, and no button works. I can access Locus from the apps drawer or from a shortcut, just not the widget. This may be solely a phone issue though, as I have been having random problems with my moto g of late.
Edit: I checked carefully after my latest lock-up of the widget and everything else on phone is working.

@prawns, @jusc : Facebook denied my request on display Locus in list of supported applications, probably due to login system I created in Locus. So I had to remove my system and integrated new based on Facebook library for Android. So hope that if there were any issues with login, they will be no more.

About sharing track and "process unsuccesful" - it should be probably because track is too long. I'll try to reduce it a little more.

Any why just recorded tracks for now? Try to share it and see your Facebook page on desktop, not in mobile! You will see that Facebook generates quite nice preview with track. it's their system for sharing sport activities that Locus use now. Anyway we have in mind a system for sharing also created tracks, so it will come.

And about button "Share" that offer more options - agree, should be useful. Just ... do it.

@john_percy: hmm weird, hard to say where is problem. I'll test widget on my device more carefully ...

I'm still waiting ... hmm

Imported your track to Locus database, converted point 19 to "turn right", converted point 73 to "turn around". Started navigation and in both directions, Locus correctly notified, firstly to turn right, later to turn around.

So if you have any problem, describe it step by step so I can simulate it and don't waste my time with attached file and no comment.

I'm wasting your time? Thats really funny. I think all the users here who tested the navigation system invested much more time for testing it and finding bugs than you for programming it.

Last time I explained the problem in detail step by step, it was to much pictures for you and no track.

I assume that sometimes you are frustrated when you implement a masterpiece of programming and nobody recognizes it. And we users are sometimes frustrated, if some "easy" operations does not work and we cannot understand why.

So lets get over the frustration and come back to a respectful working together.
I apologize for the aggressiv undertone and hope to get the problems sorting out.

What else than the track and explanation you need?

Joachim, problem here is, that You, 0709, Christian and few others, discuss about guidance and navigation system in Locus on many many places and about many many features, improvements etc.

And to be true, I'm totally lost in all this. I have usually absolutely no idea, what you want from me. I wrote this to Willy (0709) and fortunately he started to separate his ideas to separate topics, but even with this, I usually really lost in it ... and why?

Features I personally use, or I may simply test, cause no big troubles. But some advanced methods You use on bike ... it's far beyond my usage of Locus on bike. Because of this, every change is a lot more complicated to create and mainly to create correctly.

You wrote, you spend a lot of time testing, reporting, etc. Well, I do not know who spend more, it is not important, but I definitely know, that without push on guidance/navigation system from You and others, I'll never personally do something like this! There is never-ending row of ideas to do and I usually prefer ideas, that I may use in life. Then I know what exactly do and how to test it.

Anyway thank you for pointing on correct post with extra data. I still see no problem in how Locus works now, anyway I'll try to test it tomorrow and give you some feedback.

thank you for your logs. This is really weird, because I'm unable to find reason for this. It crash in some part of code, where it looks like you had to press "back" button in moment, Locus is not running. And this is probably impossible in this moment.

Heh, hard to say what to do with it. I hope, it will happen to me to, one day ... :).

Hello menion, two remarks from current version:

- duplicate menu entry in Settings/GPS and position:
- Attitude manager
- Elevation correction
open the same dialogue

- please change the icon of items in Data/Items to png image if item having it's png image
example: parking.gpx + parking.png -> show parking.png for parking.gpx in the list

geocaching line tools/intersection do not work correct if the two lines didn´t built a intersection
e.g. line1 > 2000 meters 0°, line 2 (1,4km east) > 800meters 0° so i expect two lines to north with different length

Very interesting issue (crash). Thanks to your video, I was able to simulate it on phone (not on tablet). It seems to be some weird problem in Android itself, anyway one workaround seems to work correctly. So thank you!, fixed

About lines ... how did you draw these lines? By "Line tools" > "Single line"? Bacause in intersection, you needs to define both lines, by two points every. And I agree, that there should be some automatic compute and display of results at least as temporary points ...

no, in intersection tab with projection values i wrote
EDIT: first line mapcenter at >1 second line mapcenter at >2 in screenshot, the distance between both startpoints is 1,4km and the length of second line is only 800 meter!

different if you use single line , both lines are in length and angle correct, the lines didn´t end at intersection point if they crross, lines are drawn as length value is set and there appeares no label at intersection point

Highlighting of tracks are difficult - works only one (1) time.
Popup is missed when tapping on track - works only the first time :(

Using the style parameters and putting themes together into one "folder" you have to choose at first another theme or "theme folder" before you can change your style.
Locus seems to think "why does anybody want to change the theme folder, that is already in use."

Same here, but only on my S4. On my Tab (Galaxy Tab pro 8.4) it works as before. Strange.

But wouldn't that be a very technical distinction, one that was explicitly used as argument for a single tab "Offline" in the map chooser? Most users don't care (and don't understand) if and why "Share on Facebook" is different than "Share with Google Earth" (or whatever).

@gynta, @slarti76: sharing in track/point tools menu - give it a time. It is same as with "Search" feature - both needs some improvements and I'm sure, soon or later they will come. Currently it is not so critical, so most easy for me was just add extra button to tools menu

Hi again,
After coming home from holidays and working a lot with the app I found some problems while geocaching again.
1. If you write a really long offline log and later you want to load it up as a fieldnote you only get a one line checkbox and not the normal 4 lines. That's a bit to tiny
2. If I open a cache listing and just want to update the logs nothing happens. The option to update whole listing first is turned off. Update process with complete listing works.
3. When I add a waypoint and change the icon to final position the wrong icon for final is displayed on the map. I have to change it again then it's correct.
Edit: saw it in another post ;)
4. The switcher discussion of themes is already ongoing. In my opinion old system is better, because now I need one more button on the main side menu that I use but not very often. On the main side menu I only like the buttons which are often used. In the quick settings it's better. Perhaps you can offer both possibilities?

No worries, Menion, there is a reason for a beta phase ...

First re. the sqlite map issue: the structure on my (readonly) SD card is:
_world directory, containing:
- Custom Public Transport.sqlitedb (MOBAC map of 1.5 GB I build some time ago)
- WorldOSMLocus.sqlitedb (445 MB from OAM)
- WALT.hdr
- WALT.bil (do not recall where they came from)
- subdirectory world with OruxMapsImages.db and associated xml (thsi one has a strange effect, BTW: the map shows places a number of KMs north of real position)

Now re. the Online map: it is called mapsOnline in the Quick Map Switch and it represents a folder (read/write, internal SD card on Galaxy Note) with a number of maps in it, totalling 380 MB, and Google_Hybrid and Google_Classic being the elephants in the room.
And it produces total chaos_
Level 1: South Africa and Morocco have correct tiles, the rest of Africa and Europe shows a higher level North East Canada map
Level 2: same, but blurred (i.e. simply magnifies the same information)
Level 3: Africa except Morocco and SA OK, MA and SA are correct in shape, but blurred
Level 4: Morocco is fully "moved" to NE Canada
Level 5: Morocco shows Antarctica, while Algeria shows Google Classic, West Africa Google Hybird, and rest of Africa is empty (white)
Level 6: correct maps, but a mix of Hybrid and Classic - but also empty spaces
Level 7: same
Level 8: same
Level 9: same
Level 10: same

I double checked with Pro install, which uses the same maps directories:
L1 - L10: correctly shows Google Hybrid without any gaps (I had downloaded manually before the Morocco vacation)

Stopping one Locus version and starting the other and back again safely reproduces above situation.

for me it doesn´t matter map is in internal or external Locus/maps stored, my map is not visible in Beta
Now i noticed that this map is partially affected in PRO, see screenshot, other areas of this map are displayed well over zoomlevels This map i use last 2 years without any problem

Inconsistent UI - very good observation. I'm your men, so let's try to unite it :). Major problem, as usually, is to find some color that will define "selection". I;m testing few colors. I like a green or some darker colors, but they are hardly visible behind the desk. On the sun, there will be no difference at all, so it needs some clearly visible color. Like red ... I've choose "Deep Orange - 900" - https://www.google.com/design/spec/style/color.html#color-color-palette , after some experiments, so we will see in the field. So I'll try to make all selections colored by this color. Problem will be on some places, where are selected whole lines, like in map/data manager. So it will needs some more testing to get rid of really old orange color and make it good-looking.

Problem with top menu - gynta, I'm well aware of this, and I'm still unable to solve it. Do not know why, but all my tries ends with failure :/

I have the map problems too on my LG P970 Android 4.2.2 with the newest beta:
Offline raster maps from Kompass and vector maps (from your server) are shown correct, but my OutdoorActive map not at all.

So I restored from TitaniumBackup my latest free version 3.9.0 and all maps are ok again.

On my other smartphone with Android 5.0.1 I have no problems.

What do you mean with "I just found an issue in multi-sqlite maps (maps in one subdirectory)"?
I have in \maps several subdirectories with only one sqlitedb-map.

Bad news - Locus 3.9.1.3 don't load my old map (multi-sqlitedb in one folder with different zoom levels).
Have to upload whole 4GB to Server?:) ok no problem - upload has started... brb... stoped! :)

@menion I've now done first test of 3.9.1.2 with

display "idle time"
auto turn off screen now check if navigation order
improved "idle time" during navigation

I first used idle time=5s, navigation_announcements_times=20, Android sleep=15s, because my ideal behavior is 20s before each navpoint the display is turned on, then remains on for 5s after navpoint. When not navigating Android turns off the display after 15s.

What actually happens is: 20s before each navpoint the display was turned on, but then only 5s later the display is turned off and remained off while passing the navpoint. I passed tens of my navpoints over a few hours while riding - the behavior was totally consistent. So - new changes are not working for this combination of settings.

After a few experiments I eventually used this combination:

idle time=0s (disabled), navigation_announcements_times=25, Android sleep=30s.

What actually happens is: 20s before each navpoint the display is turned on, and 10s after the navpoint the display was turned off. For me this was finally a good behavior.

When I tried these same settings with 3.9.1 Pro the display was turned on for 50s instead of 30s, which for me is not as good because I want to use the display as efficiently as possible.

In the end, I spend on support for special SQLite maps by my task manager, around 30 hours, crazy. But if will work as expected, and it looks it finally should, I hope we may use this system on more then just Outdoor Active maps. Btw. you probably do not know what I did in this end ... well it looks like:

So you have one map with few layers, which may be enable/disable as you want. All tiles are stored separately!! So if you for example download this map to offline, it download all tiles, but you may then enable just few of them. Even a using of for example hiking layer as an overlay over vector map is possible, and so on. I see it as a very useful tool! Hope you will also.

@Andrew Heard: hmm then I think that it works exactly as should :). "idle time" is time, since nothing happen. No notification, no touches from you as a user. So if you enable notification 20 s before nav point and "idle time" on 5 seconds, that you will really have display enabled only in time 20 - 15 s before navpoint. Try to set "idle time" to 25 s and it will work as you expect.

It is already implemented, it just is not allowed in beta version. We are waiting on some confirmations on side of OutdoorActive. Because we decided to prepare areas similar to areas in SwissTopo maps and it all takes unbelievable long time to make it work. Some things are crazy ... implement some feature needed for this took ok, 30 hours. But make some deal, put in on paper, sigh, tune details ... well, it's already around 4 months ... uf :). During June it have to be out! :). And fortunately prices for OA maps will be a lot better then in case of SwissTopo, so I believe that may became quite usable. You'll see ...

I can´t understand, why it´s not possible to open maps like Outdoor Active, which I can open with every browser.
I don´t need to download every complete map, but online only a bit moving over the map should work without payment.

Not sure what you are talking about. But it you mean that you used these maps over own providers.XML then it is of course possible it is blocked. It is usually visible that requests comes from locus because locus insert this information into into request.

Locus beta failed to recover track after crash. Fisrt crashed right after pressing stop button, on restart unsaved track was still available but unfortunately crashed right away again. After another restart unfinished track was lost. That's a pitty.
The theme selector in top left corner is a good idea, no need to use right panel or quick settings so thanks, I was uncomfortable with separate button in tools toolbar.

Jusc, there is no change in Locus version. Locus set all required parameter first, then are set parameters from providers.xml file. Anyway I remember that few years ago, when there were problems with OSM map server, they were able to identify source of requests even if user-agent and refferer were incorrect.

So generally, I've not changed anything in Locus around this topic. On second side, you probably know my old known opinion, that I always push map servers to protect their servers better, then just over user-agent.

@Bucky kid: crash without log and ability to simulate is :'( .. I was using track record yesterday without any problems.

I'm using 3.9.1.5 & have never seen this problem before, so I am assuming it is a beta issue. While doing track edits all of a sudden none of the map is repainted. I tried panning, zooming in/ out, switching maps, nothing forced repaint until I hide the map then unhide again.

OK, this idle time with navigation works a bit different to what I expected. (hint manual needs more description) However before I can test properly, in first test of new 3.9.1.5 settings today more bad news - with a standard "out and back" track along the same road, at many of the points where I set navpoint for both outward & return trackpoints, I observed that both navpoints are "announced" together (few seconds apart) during the outward navigation. This has never occurred before. The only difference for your consideration is that I create track on tablet, then export as V1.1 GPX, then import onto phone for navigation. Previously I just create track on phone, no export/ import. I can produce a more simple GPX with instructions tomorrow if this will help in debugging.

Some more evidence of my experience with navigation commands announced at the wrong time - eg. both out and back navpoints get announced at the same location. Attached is a GPX & TCX of a track created in Locus (not an imported or recorded track). All 22 track points (with associated course point) have non-unique timestamp 1969-12-31T13:00:00Z. Every other track point has non-unique timestamp 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z. None of the timestamps are correctly ascending in time. Each course point has non-unique timestamp 1969-12-31T13:00:00Z. How could Locus create such a bad track? It is rejected when loaded into other editors.

Long story, but the attached 40km track had been split into three sections, I deleted a 1km middle section. I created another middle section, and merged the three sections back into a single track. I thought maybe this was the problem, so I have tried to reproduce this data corruption by merging 3 simple tracks but the result was correct, so no luck so far in an explanation.

Interesting news is finally available Outdoor Active maps (missing top images, I know). Now they are available only for online access over subscription (we offer one week for free, so suggest at least to test if switching of layers is useful for you), but I believe that till end of June! , they will be available also for download to offline.

@Andrew Heard: I believe, issue was because of export/import and incorrect times in these files. Try it with next beta version, it should be a lot better.

So, tested and it works for me. Fact that you define second point of every line at 2000m or 800m is no important. It say only a direction. Anyway result of such two lines should be intersection on north pole, which works for me correctly:

From your screenshot, it looks more like you defined second point of second line same, as second point of first line.

The first leg direction 0° is ok, but the length is shortend to the value of second leg lenght and the direction of second leg is modified althought i set 0° so i get a intersection nearby and not on north pole

Hmm I was looking on your problem a while and there is need to keep in mind, that every from four points act separately. So if you define third point on map, then third point will be really defined by map. But four point remain on "map center". So if you then use projection on fourth point, you do projection from "map center" and not from manually moved third point. Understand what I mean? Try to define fourth point as projection from certain point. I see there a lot of possible improvements (in this function), but I believe it do not worth it now.

not rearly, why fourth point remain on mapcenter, second line in intersection consist of defined third point and projection (fourth point)

I don't believe the incorrect times in export files was because of export/import. The track(s) were created with Locus track editor, and the problems happened before any export. Some bug (maybe) related to 2 navpoints at same location/ different trackpoint, and when merging/ splitting tracks, but anyway I haven't been able to reproduce the error this week, so I can only wait for now until/ if it happens again. Thanks.

Every line is defined by two independent points. So if you define first or second line, define these two points separately. In this case, problem is in second point of second line. Here simply tap on "target" icon as before and choose projection. At top you will see "map center" text, so choose here wanted start point for this "projection" and then define projection parameters and confirm it. It should work then.

Hello menion,

in latest beta - import track from gpx into Locus db sometimes overrides category default graphics style and sets it's own style (unpredicted). Again no log because I don't know how to replicate this behaviour because of randomly). The problem persists from earlier versions

Auto-export to GPSies configuration screen doesnt show preset track activity (although it must be set - gpsies don't accept track with no /activity)
- also would be helpful if Locus export manager remembered and shown last activity set for manual export to gpsies (currently it always resets between exports, so activity must be always set again)

Also suggestions:
- Could the default navigation mini dashboard (right to navigation icon) be more configurable (at least for increasing font size)
- I'd like the navigation mini dashboard in guiding mode too, is possible?

I don't mean whole category, only the imported track into selected category has set own plotting style (not inherited from category). It hapen only seldom (mostly the track adopts selected category style)

Yes two small panels with numbers next to navigation arrow. What you mean by big Dashboard? I know that this can be supplied by standalone dashboard but once there is the navigation mini dashboard I think it would be good to not waste place by showing two same values twice (custom dashboard can't overlay the default buttons (regardless if Adjust by upper panel is on/off) so I always get this

settings -> map control & panels -> map screen - panels -> Onscreen Map Themes Switcher
is ON (expected for use on vector map) and visible on raster map.
My point was why the themes handler has to be visible also over pure raster map (no vector overlays)

yes really weird. This button have to be visible only in case, it is useful. So for now, only if any vector map or OutdoorActive map (online/offline) is visible. As gynta wrote before - aren't you using vector map as overlay?

@Bucky kid: if only track itself changed style to own, it may be ok. If track has defined color in GPX file, then is set style to this own color instead of color (style) of folder.

Dashboard: hmm have to check it, because they should correctly react on top/bottom panels if this option is enabled. You should be then able to place these buttons over existing buttons ...

hmm I moved it because you started topic (few weeks ago) that blank in list of online maps should not be. I agree that it is not exactly online map, but because I have no other place, I've rather move it to "bottom".

So any better, more logical and easily findable place? Because even after few years, I have no idea :)

EDIT1: And "null" - funny, just yesterday I found it too and fixed.

EDIT2: and to problem with missing "track rec" side button, in case you have permanently visible track record button in functions panel, this side button is not visible

Side theme button is not disappearing because of probably problem with screen refresh when switching from vector to raster map.
If I turn off and on screen the button is already gone. The same if I leave Locus and come back.

You're right the gpx file has some Garmin attributes. For this case it would be useful having option to ignore gpx extensions on import screen

Another checkbox like "do not import description", "set names to X", "set import date to", etc ... I think such settings has sense for one of 1000 users, what you think?

@jusc: hmm I though I'm only one who needs to add/remove maps so often :). Truth is that usage is similar to @Bucky Kid idea (maybe little big higher), on second side, it may be hidden in three dot menu of Map manager. More people interested in this?

For me place in maps manager it would be ok. And yes i often change maps to see how themes look.
P. E. in the Netherlands the coverage of tags (icons( is very close, on Iceland or Nepal are other tags, So i load a new map with PC and copy it to the phone.
Btw. adding hillshading hgt files use a restart of Locus too.

Hi menion,
first thank you for the new 3.9.2.

But I found a serious bug (crash) on my two smartphones with 3.9.2 pro and 3.9.1.6:
on a raster map (OutdoorActive) I tap on "Schnelleinstellungen" and then on "Thema der Karte" (I know this makes no sense) and after this another tap on "Thema der Karte" or another menu forces Locu to crash.

I attached a catlog and sent you two feedbacks.

The same crash happens with a vector map.
I don't know since when this bug exists (perhaps some weeks) because this does definitively work before.

Edit: Locus crashes on a vector map (tapping on change theme button in the quick settings) if the new theme change icon left below does not exist.

I'm working on it, I'm working on it :). Error 43 is because Google incorrectly distribute two uploaded versions + issue with themes + issue with track recording ... new version is in preparation. Generating + uploading = new version after +- 2 hours, sorry!

Outdoor Active are currently available only over subscription (month/year) => online access.

We are finishing testing of offline access so I really hope it will be available within 14 days. Oflfine access will use same new method of layers as online, which is really nice I think. Currently, you may select up to 5 extra overlays (in case of summer map) and same system, but completely offline will be working too!

I installed Locus Pro (3.9.2) first time on a cleared phone. Now after updating to 3.9.3 Locus asked to download 5 Mb more.

"Online map - blank" - I'll think about it. Maybe they should be also placed into top three dot menu. Because in "Offline" tab it will be quite complicated from technical point of view (and not perfectly logical at all).

I "found" the official OutdoorActive app in the WWW and played for some minutes with the all layers. But I had no time to test all
Btw. this app is terrible and crashes all the time but you can see if the different colors look the same as in Locus.

Ah yes - words appear in brackets if one of (foot|cycle|car), but no text in brackets if "No action". That seems inconsistent to me. Opposite example: Map auto-load (No map auto-load|Auto-load...|Auto-load...). Minor suggestion.

@balloni55: thanks. Something weird happen here. At start, when extra bottom panel is visible, Locus receive information that panel is visible, but on request "how height is it", I receive simply "0". Later it returns correct values. So I found different, in the end easier method, which returns correct values. On second side, long testing is lost because now I use different method :). So except, that in beta version may be a problem on different place. We will see, thanks!

@jusc: sorry, cannot simulate. please, give me exact coordinates, thanks. Your HGT files are downloaded over Locus right? If not, it is maybe not a Locus problem!

nope, no workaround. HGT files downloaded over Locus are fixed. Other sources are on own risk.

EDIT: @balloni: hmm I had to revert this change as is caused more troubles then usage. Interesting ... :(. So fix will have to wait till some nice idea appear (idea in developers world), sorry.

@menion I checked 4 last profile settings - hmmm, your decision, for other complex/ multi-variable settings (eg. Display>Orientation Lock) you have "(blue-summary)". This seems only case of simple variable setting without consistent "(blue-summary)". Minor issue.

New BETA version 3.9.3.3

What brings to You (just most interesting):
- "Navigate to" now allow to specify up to two "Via points". These points will be also used for "recalculate" so till you do not pass them during your ride, recalculate always compute just a navigation till this point and merge it with already computed navigation from this "via point"
- attach photo to point and tap on it on a map. Photo is visible in label together with ability to display it in full size
- if you export point with some attachments to GPX, Locus should now correctly import all back to original state together with attachments
- and more after start ...

EDIT: suggest to update add-on GraphHopper to new version 0.1.6, otherwise there may be a random crashes

confirm, a view on statistic or chart takes longer than 5 sec for me ;) and so it would be a benefit if in this case screen keeps on.

additional i noticed that photos taken inside the POI dialog with Cymera, are stored inside locus/data/media/photo
photos taken inside the POI dialog with ZoomFX are store in camera app folder and not in locus folder

If i delete a attached POI photo locus freeze ::)
After i start locus again and try to open this POI locus feeze again :-\
i have to delete this POI in data screen to solve this.

Automatic backup fails only in 3.9.3.3 on two devices.
I tried it several times, manual backups (full and settings only) are ok.
I made a catlog but I cannot send it from my phone.

I tried it several times, manual backups (full and settings only) are ok.
I made a catlog but I cannot send it from my phone.

Catlog attached now.
This happens on LP 5.0.1 and JB 4.0.2, both rooted.

Hmm I tried your previously attached file "cymera" and it works correctly for me. If Goggle Earth make troubles, it is possible. But Locus should correctly rotate reloaded images (as they are exactly same as original), weird.

sorry, yesterday i uploaded only always correct displayed photo from "cymera app" :)
attached example is taken with "Camera Broser FX" and this one is rotated in exported and reimported .kmz

The exif info has "Orientation - Right top". I have had problems with these tags, some viewing software (on Win 7) support these and some don't. So my primary viewing software (Irfanview) strips/clears this tag, then all other viewers show the photos as I intended.

on PC autorotate is also possible with "jpg rotate" in batch mode, but this is awkward workflow.
Yesterday menion found a solution which work inside locus, so my hope is he also find a working solution for exported and reimported photos.

@menion I can't find your quote now, a few weeks ago, but when last discussed you said idle time was only related to navigation/ guidance. The "auto screen turn-off" setting is only enabled if one or more of 3 guidance/ navigation checkboxes are also enabled.

Also tested this yesterday. Works as expected, no orientation problems when using the default camera app.
However, I had some problems with "normal" POIs from my personal POIs. Locus (3.9.3.4) crashed most of the time when selecting them on the map. POIs from the POI-db or POIs associated with a track (including photo POIs) seem to work.
I don't know if this is caused by the new photo POI feature, but I don't have this problem in latest Locus Pro.

LoCoins are deducted before download is successful
Just now I tried to buy the Locus France vector complete map (240 LoCoins). I had sufficient credit. I started the download but Locus correctly indicated there was insufficient free space, so I freed up the necessary space by deleting the existing map files of France. I then noticed Locus has already deducted the LoCoins but no download was occurring. Can someone sort this out for me please? Shouldn't Locus wait until the download is completed before making the deduction? Of course I could add some more credit, but I shouldn't have to.

In the latest pro and beta versions, the World vector map reappears in list of maps although it should be hidden.
I deleted the map and downloaded it again from the store. On restarting Locus, it was back in the list of maps .

@balloni55: hmm problem in Google Earth (rotated image) will be fixed in next version. It was issue in Locus, thanks. By re-import - you mean that you import back exported KMZ file? This unfortunately only insert generated description with small image overview, but photo won't be attached as in source point, right? This needs to be improved, I'm aware of it.

This is correctly of course. I'm sure we talk here about situation, navigation/guidance is active AND you are currently not in a map screen, but in some other screen.

@zossebart: thanks, I also tested it quite a lot during last days and it works very well. In the end, I've decided to promote all added points in "add new route" feature, also to "via points". We will see how this will work!

About crash - I think it will be same problem as @balloni55 reported above. So consider it as solved, thanks anyway!

@Andrew Heard: hmm I think, current behavior is correct in case of vector maps. Because when you purchase it, you may download it for unlimited time during an year. It is yours. So there is no need to worry, that your paid for something, you won't get. In case there will be any problem during download, low space on card, etc. No problem, you may just try it later.

@john_percy: may you please check bottom blue "+" button > "Add external maps", if there is not this world map folder? By any accident. Thanks

Aha. Yes, I had my Vector maps folder "added" here and the _world folder is a subfolder.of this. My Vector maps folder is also linked by Settings > Miscellaneous > Default directories
Did something change, or was it me?

thanks Menion, I didn't make my experience clear - when the purchase failed only the UPDATE button was displayed. So I had no option to DOWNLOAD the map. Today when I try again (after Locus exit of course) now the DOWNLOAD button is displayed instead of UPDATE button, so I am able to download as suggested. I'm not sure how to improve the situation, but I hope you can understand my issue now. I had to restart Locus in order to perform download.

I have now only 600 MB free on card, I tap on a purchase of whole Germany map (190 LC, required almost 4 GB for download), purchase valid and then appear issue with "not enough free space". But button "Purchase" is still on screen. Button "back" and return to Germany fixed this and now button "Download is visible". (I'll try to fix this).

You have deleted France map manually over some file browser out of Locus, or directly in Locus? Seems like Locus incorrectly noticed that map is removed and offer to you only "update" of older map. Anyway as I see, map was correctly charged only once, right? So except confusion, nothing extra happen. Fine. I'll try to play with it a little bit, so maybe this happen to me as well, so I'll be able to correctly refresh top panel with active buttons. Thanks for report and sorry for these troubles! Hope that map is downloaded and nicely working!

So test version 3.9.3.7 is out.

We have some problems with Swisstopo maps with latest Locus on Google Play (for unknown reason, in middle of June they have changed name of one map layer, hmm ...), so new version will be sooner then I planned. Probably Saturday/Sunday.

So if there is anything I missed that needs to be fixed, improved, feel free to write me. During Friday, I'll be only "tuning" :)

These files (backup all) are created with length zero.
Settings only are ok.

I've found that change the order of navigation points works by dragging start or end point icon but doesn't work by dragging via point icon. Isn't it an issue?

1. Recorded tracks are cant be exported with a cyrillic alphabet. Error.
2. During voice navigation along track when I deviate from the track line in 90% of cases the voice saying wrong information about the deviation distance. Usually it say "10 kilometers". Now I cant understand is it an algorithm error or error in my russian translation? ;-)

@ta-ka: hmm move of points in "Navigate to" is quite secret function, nice found :). Anyway whole system is quite weird. "Via points" has instead of icon "cross" that is used for removing of point. But because of this, point cannot be dragged. Also it is not clear that points may be dragged at all, so I need to find our a better solution ...

@sersus:
1) please, give me example
2) 10 kilometers?? :). You may see distance to track along the line. Is it match to voice command? Probably no. So what value is visible next to arrowed line when you are out of track? Also you are using TTS as navigation voice?

@menion - you are entirely correct/ your experience is same as mine, and also your conclusions. I'm not sure if I tried the Back button after warning because of concern the purchase may be "lost", I just saw the Purchase button, and confusion. I left Locus running, and used a separate File Explorer to manually free up space by deleting the two France maps. Yes, map was charged correctly, and only once. I "guess" swapping from Purchase to Download button after the warning is a solution? Maybe also one of those Question Mark icons could explain the purpose of Download button? The files are still downloading, about 20 hours so far, 93% of 1.8GB, nearly there and ready for our next 6 week cycle tour!

As a temporary solution, why not. I'll test it to next version, I do not wanted to spend a time on this for now. it anyway require some more precise solution I think.

And new version 3.10.0 is out. I do not received some feedback on new via points in navigation. Fortunately, I did quite a lot of field testing, so I hope, it was enough :). Enjoy version 3.10.0 and thanks as usually for a very nice help with solving most of problems and UI glitches.
