As you understand, the protocol is proprietary and need to be reverse enginneered
Which also rules out option 2 as it would put Locus at risk of a cease and desist suit from Shimano. They did it with bike GPS manufacturer Hammerhead who exactly did that. As of today, only Garmin is license.

So the method must keep the Shimano related code outside of Locus.

An separate app/service could handle that and call an Locus API that would be in no way related Shimano.

So 1st part for me is to investigate the protocol.
Then I will have to learn Android programming 

Would you see that as a reason able approach ?


Still, the author from the STunlock and STride apps haven't seem to receive such C&D order but better safe than sorry.

I just purchased an Orbea Rise eMTB using a Shimano motor which has a BLE connection.
But this is using a proprietary protocol.

Would an add-on able to manage that proprietary connection and push sensor data to Locus Map in order to
- record those sensor in the track and get those data in the exported GPX
- make the data available to dashboard display

The type of data I'm would like to record are both standard ones like speed and cadence, but also not so standard such as the assistance mode (eco, trail, boost), the assistance level (%), the battery level, ...

I can already record those in a separated application (STride), but it would be nicer to use only 1 app and to be able to have also a single dashboard with both the map and some technical data (battery !!!)

So looks like the protocol used by Shimano is proprietary

Here some guys were working in 2022 to make an device to convert Shimano's proprietary protocol to ANT+ standard.

I was expecting some standard as Locus has 'speed' and 'cadence' generic sensors in the menu. At least on those 2.

Any how, authors of android apps STunlocker and STride got the details. May be by reverse-engineering the protocol.

I don't get why an add-on would not work on Locus Map Classic as I have a couple of add-on running on mine.
May be different version would be needed for each LM version. I haven't yet look on how to build an add-on.

First step now is to find a way to get that protocol specs...

I just bought a second hand Orbea Rise eMTB (from 2022) which supports BLE connection.

There are dedicated apps that works on my Android phone to manage the Bike and retrive some info but I would love to be able to integrate some items directly into Locus Map (Classic) such as:
- speed
- cadence
- battery level
- assistance level
etc...

I already tried to connect the "bike speed" and "bike speed and cadence" from the track recording options but without any success

Do anyone knows if this is possible and (if yes) how to achieve htis ?

If not yet possible, how could it be added ?
Must it be built-in Locus ? Or can it be added though an add-on ?

I have the opposite behavior here

No problem to access 'Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro' from Windows but none of my Android file managers can access this folder on the device itself.
MiX gives a warning that this is blocked for privacy security reasons.

I don't remember since when this is the case but I remember some times when I was editing custom maps' XML directly on the device...

I bet this is more a problem from Android moving to similar dictatorial behavior as iOS than from Locus itself.
I hate those companies (Google and +) deciding what is better for the user.

Still, is it mandatory for Locus to store files in the Android tree instead of Documents ? I would expect any app to be able to access files located in Documents without any restrictions

I am trying to use this over offline map too.
It appears that sqlitedb files supports overlay but rmap doesn't.
Both have been made by MobAC.

I am not yet much aware about XML theme files.
I would like to try to make the lines more visibles.
What should I look for in the XML file (color, thickness, ...) ?

It would be great if I could make the countour line as a pair of black+white lines side by side to increase the contrast.

If you know a good place to learn about tweaking XML files, that would me much appreciated.

EDIT : Question : There are 2 contoursxml files in the ZIP. Is that normal ? Shall I keep both ?

Does anyone knows about an on-line map source for transparent elevation contour lines that could be used as an overlay over satellite imagery maps ?

I am looking to achieve something like in Strava (see below) by adding elevation contour on-top of Google or others satellite  maps.

I'd love to see buttons for :
- Zoom in and out
- Quick Add-waypoint (adds a waypoint at current location without additional dialog - Should allow to specify folder and icon somewhere. Waypoint would be named by date and time. [Note that this is different from the existing Add-waypoint-on-track].
- Full screen on/off
- Buttons panels on/off -> On: make the panels to appear without timeout. Off: restore timeout if previously set.

Last time I refresh my own cache, the icon changed from "MyOwn" to the standard icon (tradi, multi, etc...)

I've tried the above BSH script in MoBAC.
While it seems to get tiles down to zoom 10, the position is totally wrong.
For example zooming out from one position move totally out.

As anyone made some progress on this one ?

As you guys, I'd like to run Locus on my PC.

I am more a VMWare user than VirtualBox and I am a bit confused by what I find on androvm.org.
It looks like they recently changed to a commercial company but apparently they also changed the VM engine to something called Genymotion software. Is that correct ?
Does it means it is no more possible to run AndroVM under VMWare Player ?

As I would like to avoid installing VirtualBox in // of VMWare, I would appreciate any advice.

EDIT : And what about Android-x86.org ? Is it a good alternative ?
