I'm sorry - there was an issue in the script that caused that the system encoding was used by default. This will be improved in an upcoming update.

So I've converted your theme. By the way, several line strokes were defined as stroke-width="1,3" (with a comma instead of a dot), so I corrected them to stroke-width="1.3".

The converted theme is attached.

máte pravdu – aktuálně je možné přidávat fotografie pouze k jednotlivým bodům zájmu, které jsou zobrazené v mapě. Není bohužel možné umístit fotografii na libovolné místo mimo existující body. Tuto funkci jsme už několikrát zvažovali, ale zatím nemáme konkrétní plán její realizace.

Co se týče editace mapových dat – naše mapy vycházejí z OpenStreetMap (OSM). Naprosto rozumím, že nechcete trávit čas mapováním či úpravou existujících prvků. V takovém případě stačí vytvořit tzv. OSM Note: https://docs.locusmap.app/cs/doku.php/manual:user_guide:maps_tools:osm_notes
Jde o jednoduchý způsob, jak upozornit komunitu a ostatní mapery na problém v mapě.

@WildWortWechsel - You're right. For cities, both the local name and the English name are often displayed, which is particularly helpful for non-Latin scripts (and vice versa). However, the English names depend on the data source we use for map rendering (Thunderforest), so we don't have control over which cities include an English name.

Exactly, and we can't fill forest areas that are also designated as protected areas. The best solution might be duplicating the protected areas under a different key, such as ls_boundary=protected_areas, but that would invalidate all existing themes. Difficult decision...

Problem is caused because of combination natural=wood and boundary=protected_area. In LoMaps is the protected area  processed with force-polygon-line="true" (to correctly display the dashed green border). For this reason is polygon represented as line or several lines in the map file and isn't closed.

Thank you for the detailed report. I generated a completely new England map using the latest official Mapsforge writer and reviewed the reported issues. The Sherwood Forest NNR and Summer Leys Nature Reserve appear to be fine—please see the attached screenshots (using the internal theme).

However, Everdon Stubb is indeed broken. The issue seems related to map tile clipping—the polygon is likely not correctly closed at the edge of the map tiles. I'm not sure why OAM works correctly; perhaps it uses some pre-processing or a different bounding box enlargement. I'll investigate this in more detail over the next few days.

thank you for your message, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
This issue isn't related to Locus Map 4 itself, but rather to the latest map version 2025.08.24, which unfortunately contains a critical error. We're actively working on a fix.
In the meantime, please delete the downloaded map, open the Locus Store, and download the previous version 2025.06.16, which is currently set as the default until the corrected version is released.

Thanks @michaelbechtold you're right - we are currently working on it and I think it's a matter of weeks before offline LoMaps will be available for iOS.
The three LoMaps offer is still valid (for Android users) and will be available for iOS users when the offline maps are released.

Sometimes there are problems in OSM, but not in this case because contour lines are not part of the OSM database. The screenshot you sent us is from online LoMaps and unfortunately online LoMaps are not fully under our control. The contour lines in online LoMaps are generated from a lower resolution elevation model and sharp peaks may be missed.
Please download offline LoMaps of Spain (in Android App) where were contour lines generated from precise DEM.

Hi Dominik,

conversion of SHP to Mapsforge vector map is overcomplicated and the article is really old...maybe is better to convert data to raster mbtiles (but it depends on area of coverage).
Anyway, before any exploration of the issues - could I ask you what your use case is? Or what data you want to display?

To be honest, I don't really know Mobac either. Maybe someone from the community can advise.
Anyway, maybe there are other more "user friendly" options.
- preloading the WMS map in Locus Map. Locus caches the last 1000 map tiles. It is therefore possible to browse a smaller area when you are online, and the last viewed map will remain in the cache even when you are offline.

- to use QGIS to create a raster data from WMS (please see https://www.reddit.com/r/QGIS/comments/16auzqj/extracting_data_from_wms_source/ ) and after you can use QGIS to export raster to mbtiles (please see the article https://help.locusgis.com/support/solutions/articles/47001094929-how-to-import-geotiff-or-geopdf )

as you mentioned the best solution should be the MOBAC. I'm not extra familiar with it but there is some example of MOBAC configuration for using WMS https://mobac.sourceforge.io/wiki/index.php/Custom_XML_Map_Sources#Custom_WMS_map_sources
Please be sure you do not brake terms of use of WMS service (because downloading)

I would also consider using OpenStreetMap data when it comes to unpaved routes. You can use the default LoMaps which show OSM highway=track https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:highway%3Dtrack, but there is no information on whether the track can be used for 4x4.
You can also filter and download a specific OSM highways dataset with https://overpass-turbo.eu (for smaller areas) -> use GPX or KML format to export and after that import data into Locus.
Or you can use QGIS to export OSM data to mbtiles.
It's also possible to create a custom map and a Mapsforge theme (alternative to offline LoMaps, but it's quite a complicated task).

So there are more options, it depends on your specific needs, the type of source data, the area you are interested in, etc...
