Free chat / Re: Best phones regarding GPS
December 12, 2018, 16:17:57
Biggest problem with Samsung devices is the compass.
It loses the accuracy when close to metal/magnetic objects... or when rebooting.
And it will not regain accuracy by itselves.
Do figure 8's...
You can easily check your own device by entering *#0*# in your dialer.
Magnetic Sensor should be blue with 3 indicated.
Position precision on my Note8 is very good. As is the battery time.

that one doesn't mess up the UI, but loses gps once every 5 minutes and never re-enables it until I do it manually.

I had to use this app for same reason a couple of years ago.. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.webmajstr.gpson
Problems was not related to Locus but different app.
It forces GPS active..

Hi  :)

Sorry for my late response to this.

What i asked about was adaptive screen rotation option.

But no worries, found even better solution.

3.rd part app - - > https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ui.robot.rotate is everything i ever wanted and needed!

Should be standard in every Android phone..  ;D

Have a great weekend

You can do Menu > Settings > Maps > Map objects....(Line to GPS, just move map)
or
Menu > Settings > Maps > Map objects... (Quick Measure, two fingers)

My setting is both  ;D

Not sure about the coverage, but here you go.

Open WMS tab, add manually this:

Hope this will serve your need  ;)

When viewing a fieldnote in add-on-->long press--->View listing...it open the Cache listing as expected.
When closing listing with back button, Locus displays a dialogbox.
Everything operates as normal.
View attached screenshot.

Sidenote:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.windyty.android (Weather forcast app) is a great example of an app that uses Senor instead of Android Auto rotate feature..

Just my 5 cent ☺

Troubles & Questions / Auto rotation fuzz..
February 26, 2017, 18:27:38
Hi!
I would want to add Sensor to Orientation Lock.

User case:
The only app on my device that use Landscape is Locus. I activate Auto rotate in notification bar, and navigate.. in a dashboard holder. Leave car, search geocache or whatever. Come back home, disable Auto rotation.
Well, went to playstore, found auto rotate app activated pr. app... activate for Locus only. Hallelujah, this removes the Notification bar step, works like a charm!

Until hitting Hint... bam... Locus crashes hard 😢 (doesn't even manage to display dialogbox)

Possible to add Sensor as an option?

Live tracking / Re: Locus - Live tracking service
February 19, 2017, 23:48:40
I do use Locus Live Tracking amongst my fellow geocachers and track/route buddies, but for safety and contact with family I use a sms service. My family got iphones, sms is perfect for anti-nerdy family members.

App is called DRADIS https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.prototypezero.dradis

Its exactly the service for my needs and comes with a handy widget... I would love to see Locus with same functionality!
This reply is not meant to promote anything, just own experience about important subject.

Free chat / Test your sensors...

Curious about your sensors and sensor-data?
Discovered this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chrystianvieyra.physicstoolboxsuite a week ago.. searching for a tool to record/collect data over time. Especially barometer, compass, gps etc..

I know...this is for the nerdy ones of us.. ::)

As for crosshair compass with camera view, I use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appyhand.bearingcompass

Thank you for this update, I've been using your theme for long time since narrow paths in the woods are so well drawn on the map. Even paths that is not shown or indicated in any other themes.
Good job!
