RMAP sqlite still recommended when creating DB from MOBAC?

Says to use RMAPS Sqlite (I do this and it works fine in the latest version of Locus Map).

MOBAC supports many DB's now:
https://mobac.sourceforge.io/MOBAC/README.html#AtlasFormats

As does Locas Map:
https://docs.locusmap.app/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:maps_external&s[]=openandromaps

Is there a better DB to use in Locus Map now than RMaps SQLite? RMaps SQLite has limitations (as described on the MOBAC page).

The guide is 14 years old and I am just wondering if there is a newer recommendation now?

You could try the standardized .mbtiles format, but I think the advantages/limitations are similar to DB RMAPS.

MBTiles uses an SQLite container but is widely standardized for offline map use (tile index + metadata). MOBAC supports MBTiles as well.

I would highly recommend trying the MBTiles format.

MBTiles is a widely adopted standard for offline maps that also uses an SQLite container. It works great in both MOBAC and Locus Map, and it doesn't have the same strict limitations as the older RMaps format. Have you given MBTiles a try yet?
