Hi Sonny - just curious why most of the republic or Ireland isn't included in the DTM? ref. https://sonny.4lima.de/map.png

There hasn't been an OpenData elevation source for it yet. Do you know one?
Btw: The same is true for the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.

Andrew Heard

Sadly no. Thanks for the info & the great work you share.

Thanks for your dedication. As for bulk unzipping directly on Android, bulk unzipping to same folder worked for me with ZArchiver.
And for bulk downloading with GDrive app one has to go to the real files ("Speicherort anzeigen" - initially there's a list of shortcuts only as for Germany 1").
So, it was a bit tricky.

During the last months I worked a lot to create new DTMs, now they are available:

Norway_Mainland v2, Norway_Svalbard v1, Norway_Jan Mayen v1, Denmark_Faroes v1, United Kingdom v2, Ireland v1, Portugal_Mainland v0, Portugal_Madeira v1, Portugal_Azores v1, EUROPE v18

Have fun!

Ireland V1 - excellent timing for me Sonny - thanks! About to cycle tour over there.

If would be great if Locus Web used these DTMs for the route planner, say for Gold level users - certainly a premium feature.

Fully agree, Andrew.
For the Web Planner, the cost impact is minimal (not so for the 1" downloads, though), so there is no justification to not use it.
"Consistently" (Web Planner versus App) being "wrong" is not a good idea, I think.

Just an update:
Quite a few new DTMs have been released during the last months, especially in Middle- and Eastern Europe.
Have fun with them!

Sonny

Maybe an interesting improvement for Locus user and developers: "DTM Czechia v2" has been released which is based completely on precise LiDAR data.

Some News:
Fixed Models: Italy v2b, Austria 0.5" v2
New Models: Cyprus v1, Switzerland 0.5" v2

Hi! I am already using your files in Locus. Now I wanted to update them to the latest version but I am struggling to find a way how to do it. On the lates android versions, there is no access to the android/data folder, and Locus is not letting me choose the "media" folder instead of the "data" folder.
Is there currently no way to install custom elevation models?

In Locus you can move major folders to different locations, and as far as I remember, Locus will do the moving for you.
This option always applies to the SRTM folder (Settings->Backup&FileSystem->FileSystemManager).
So, first do this move, then replace the respective files with Sonny's latest
Now, WHERE TO let Locus move any stuff?
- /Android/media is the best place, because more file managers can access those structures propoerly, even on Android 14
- INT or EXT SD? I have tons of SRTMs (mix of 1" and 3" across the world) on EXT SD and it works fine

mfink

Indeed that works for Locus 4, but not for Locus 3 :(

I get the following message:

Set 'data/srtm/' directory

We're sorry but this version of OS Android does not allow setting up a custom directory.

Other directories work.

Good News, for the first time the whole country of Germany (besides northern flatlands of "Schleswig-Holstein") is completely based on LiDAR sources:
New Models: Germany v3, Europe v24
