Title: [Theme] V-Scale2_Pure
Post by: jusc on June 22, 2014, 17:36:44
further development stopped.
new theme in preparation...

I updated a bit the V-Scale_Pure theme.
Now with motorway junctions and hopefully with better visible town names.

Unzip the the attached file  (both folders in zip) to _themes

Have fun

UPDATE 27.06.2014
Inspired by this question http://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=4000.0 I mad a few smaller changes.
The minor roads are a bit more visible.
Tracks and paths are shown later  (up from zoom level 15). Now streets are better visible in minor zooms.

@Christian,
I hope the motorway and junction tags are once more a bit improved. But it seems not to be possible to get all tags in all zoom levels. Sometimes they are overlapping, or I have to stretch them to far from the ways. May you have a look please?  :D
@borkenkäfer
I removed the "track grades" and other hike or cycle tags in this theme, so pathes and tracks shoud be better visible now

(http://s11.postimg.org/f51ga7xv3/VScale_Pure2_1.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/f51ga7xv3/)
Please unzip the attached V-Scale2_Pure_20140627.zip and replace (only) the V-Scale2_Pure.xml in /Locus/mapsVector/_themes/VScale2_Pure folder.

Attention for new users
As long as it´s not sufficient for us, I will make a few improvments and only change the xml file.
Later I will make one package.

For new users
Please follow these steps

1. download both zips
2. unzip at first  the V-Scale2-Pure.zip.
3. unzip  V-Scale2-Pure_XXXXXXXX.zip.
4..move the unpacked V-Scale2_Pure.xml from  V-Scale2-Pure_XXXXXXXX.zip to V-Scale2_Pure folder you have unzipped before
5. copy both folders to /Locus/mapsVector/_themes/

further development stopped.

Locus Pro could not load the file.
Am receiving a "main.xml" error. Did another download and received the same error notice.
Possibly an error in the "V-Scale2_Pure.xml" file.
Thanks ..

I will update a cycle and a hike theme, so that you don't need to have an additional resource folder for each theme.

Hi jusc,

thank you, it work's fine. I have two remarks

1. Some kinds of ways are not so good visible in areas (landuse = forest)

(http://s16.postimg.org/cnshya1zl/Screenshot_2014_06_23_21_17_37.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/cnshya1zl/)

2. The name of a lake is shown more than one times, also for a small on, may be it's not necessary.

Hi Jusc,
Was mache ich falsch?
Bin noch kein Themes Profi.

/Locus/mapsVector/_themes/VScale2 with the subdirectories
and
/Locus/mapsVector/_themes/VScale2_Pure/ with only one file: VScale2_Pure.xml

The maps are from http://www.openandromaps.org/.  What is Grrmsny? Germany? The Germany map works as shown in the screenshots above.

Hi Gerhard
hast du das Theme auch ausgewählt?
(Hauptmenü-Mehr-Schnellwechsel-Thema der Karten) evtl. Schnellwechselmenü bearbeiten!

Edit:
Mapdetails-Thema auswählen geht natürlich auch!

I try to make it more visible, particularly for hike and cycle themes, but this theme should be used as "City" theme.
In this theme I ´m thinking about throwing all special values away.

2. The name of a lake is shown more than one times, also for a small on, may be it's not necessary.

In this case I don´t see any solution at the moment. It seems to come up with higher zoom levels and only for some smaller lakes.

nice theme. but it has small errors:
up to zoom level 16 all exits are shown properly (sometime doubled), zoom level 17 no labels are shown for some exits, zoom level 18 all stuff is displayed.

Do you have an example? Screnshot?

Thanks in advance

In zoom level 14 name is printed on top of number, therefore number is not rentable.
Example: Germany A9 Allershausen

I played around and noticed the labels in zoom level 17 are shown but outside the display. So you have to move the map to find the labels.
Have a look at exit Murnau /Kochel at A95.
Seems that happens at bigger exits and junctions wich have many points fof labels...
Weired.

The mortorway junctions seem not to be in original Locus maps. Just tested with Germany map from store.

@Petr
perhaps next time?  ;D

I can see motorway numbers and names of exits and junctions using the original Locus maps, so they should be in the map. (I downloaded single german states, not the whole germany.map. But that shouldn't make a difference, I think.)

Small remark: pylons of high voltage lines are shown as wind turbines.

Very nice and useful theme, thank you for the work!

Sure, for example near the AKW Phillipsburg. I'm sure these lines are not for 'Ökostrom'...

You are right, I got it. Wrong icons for power towers. I'll integrate it into next update.
Thank you for this hint.

I really like the appearance of your theme. Is it possible to create a variation with the roads displayed "thicker"? I have my phone mounted on the handlebars of my motorcycle. I view the screen from more than 50cm away, and the roads are very difficult to see.

I would like the theme to resemble the display of a Garmin GPS, for example.

Thanks.

I noticed something whilst trying out john_percy's new voluntary UK theme . My map was in an area I haven't been for a while  and I was switching themes to compare. When I switched to the V-Scale2_Pure theme it looked like East Cornwall was submerged below sea level when in zoom level  12 -13  upwards using the England map from the Locus Store. When using the Open Android Great Britain map there is no problem (see screenshots), and it seems to be confined to just East Cornwall.

It's a known issue with Locus Store maps. The problem occurs elsewhere as well, but the following edit solves it.
In V-Scale2_Pure.xml, find (near the start of the file)
<rendertheme xmlns="http://mapsforge.org/renderTheme" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://mapsforge.org/renderTheme ../renderTheme.xsd" version="1" map-background="#ffffff">

and change to
<rendertheme xmlns="http://mapsforge.org/renderTheme" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://mapsforge.org/renderTheme ../renderTheme.xsd" fill-sea-areas="0" version="1" map-background="#ffffff">

AFAIK, this is a correct for all themes. It is needed when using Locus Store maps, but is only compatible with the Locus apps (Pro and Free).
