How to completely turn off the screen while recording?

Hello,

I'm using a camera app that can dim the screen after one minute, which helps save battery. However, I'd like to turn the display off entirely while recording long videos or timelapses.

A 4–5 hour recording drains almost all of my battery overnight. Is there any setting, app, or workaround that allows recording to continue with the screen fully off?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

What phone and camera app are you using? Some manufacturers or third-party camera apps may have special options for long-duration recording that aren't available on stock apps.
