Heart rate monitor requirements

I would like to get a Bluetooth heart rate monitor that works with locus maps. I have found this page:

that lists some supported devices. It was last updated the summer of 2022 and beyond that it seems a little further out of date than that.

I'm willing to take a chance on a heart rate monitor that may or may not work with Locus, but I was hoping for a bit of information about what Locus requires in a HRM? Is there a spec that it must be compliant/partially compliant with? That would help me rule some things out...

I use a Polar Verity Sense with Locus (not in the list). The measurements are saved along with the recorded track so can view in the chart. You can design a dashboard to display real time heart rate too.
