New Beta 4.30.1.8

I have set the Slim Style in My Library.
If I want to move or copy a point or track, the subfolder icons are now displayed in the folder list, which should actually only appear in full style.

Is this intentional? When I select Slim Style, I actually always want to have the Slim Style.

In 4.30.1.7 the list is still displayed "slim", i.e. without subfolder icons.

  - fix: (SILVER) incorrect offset for top dashboard

Regarding the Dashboard.
@Menion: Any chance to implement this: https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/37768-more-dashboard-variables-for-next-via-point

I think/hope this is minor - but would make life on a biketour a lot more convinient.

lG uk - doing some intensive testing for the next 3 weeks on bike vacation.

But this is the wrong place. Please submit suggestions for improvement to the help desk. It's probably a minor issue. But 100 people have a minor issue. And in this case, only one person wants it. That's why we need the help desk and to gather votes.

Actually it's not masterclass to make an app featurerich but simple in appearance and use.
Though you will easily find bad design or control solutions.
Look at the android-dark-material-design, where active controls or tabs in browser are with that darkgrey that it is pita to reliably distinguish from black. Assuming there might have been a LOT of meetings and finetunings to bring that android-design to life.

Well, that red sign next to position is the worst decision of 2025.
Everything else is said.

I guess Locus will never be for beginners. E.g. look at the simple satellite radar screen with GPS off and you're immediately out of the game, 'no visible sattelites'. Don't get in panic and touch the screen..
I'm fine and understand the logic :)

Today I noticed something odd: In the warning list in route planner:

You cannot view this attachment.

The list only uses the upper third of the window, the lower part stays empty. This is also a bit confusing - it took me a while to realize, that the list has more than 3 items and is scrollable in the upper part.

You cannot view this attachment.

Hi guys. These two months are a combination of my vacations with family and time spent on support and some maintenance. So no big changes now. Also, sorry for the delays in communication. Hope you all enjoy nice times outdoors!

@Andrew Heard
centering button badge > maybe you have disabled the "Enable GPS when centering" option? If so, it then does not turn GPS on, so you miss info about the missing system location permission. I've also noticed what you discussed with @Graf Geo . In case, you are centered, repeated clicks only turn on rotation, but no info appears. I've improved this, so the app also warns to problems with access to location data, thanks!

@Graf Geo
"I don't see that as a big problem." > and we do. At least, we have a problem finding new users, and our big goal (already for a year or two and now even more important) is to improve usability without loss of functionality. So such minor problems reported by @Andrew Heard are crucial now.

Slim style in folder selector > yes, it is intended. Because it is a screen where you search for folders, info about subfolders helps in orientation here. So I've decided to use full style here. On the opposite - in the screen with manual folder sorting slim style is used.

@Ulrich Kiermayr
extra variables > I was looking at it. Current values are pre-computed and adding another new set is not so easy as it looks. Dashboard generally needs some more love, I know it, but it's not a priority now, sorry.

Scrollable warning list > this is interesting. Happens always to you? It should be just a half-screen bottom dialog, not a full-screen. got it, hopefully fixed

@T-mo
worst decision of 2025 > really? If you suffer by the same issue as @Andrew Heard , it will be solved. What else is wrong here? Button with something red > ok, click to solve it > done.

yes, correct

welcome back; we are thinking of a 6-week cycling trip in your beautiful country next year!

I know (and really appreciate it) that when a track recording is started, there is a warning if battery saving is detected. Maybe, and to be helpful/ consistent, if Location is disabled, there is a similar warning?

I seem to be using desktop version of Anthropic Claude (AI) more & more. I've already mentioned to @menion, but in test just now I asked "what are the best free cycling related GPS Android apps?" and main opposition/ competition OsmAnd is in list with comment "...is a powerful open-source mapping app that works great for cycling. It uses OpenStreetMap data and offers excellent offline capabilities...", sadly the premier app Locus Map is not in the list. So as more & more users get their questions answered by these AI, how does LM get into these crucial lists?

my question FYI @ https://claude.ai/share/16a4f8ec-8918-420f-aa5f-b0e94da4353f

so I then asked "what about Locus Map" and clearly the AI knows, because it gives this glowing report... "You're absolutely right to bring up Locus Map - it's actually one of the best free cycling GPS apps available and deserves to be highlighted. Locus Map is particularly excellent for cycling because:...Thanks for mentioning it - Locus Map definitely belongs in the top tier alongside Strava and Komoot, especially for cyclists who prioritize navigation and offline capability over social features."

Why do you care? Some specific aspect even many users do not know... of a specific software. Asking an AI is simply wrong.

Oh great, in the new update geotagged media can be time filtered. If only it would find at least one picture here 😭

Backup is broken. Auto backup failed and left a notification, manual backup says Whooops. "Migrate backup" should probably be called "Migration backup".

That's right. So I switched back to the previous beta version 1.8.

The time filter for geotagged media was already available there.

Happy that the problem with the clickpoint of LoPoints is solved - also didn't think of the map magnification being a possible reason.

However, I find the highlighted LoPoints overwhelmingly big - at least 3x as high and double the width. Unfortunately, the size setting changes both highlighted and unhighlighted at the same time.
Menion, would it be possible to get separate selectors for both point icon sizes?

And while we're at point sizes: Could you add those settings to the presets? I think it makes a lot of sense, e.g. I have a biking profile/preset, where I of course want big icons, but also one for exporting track images, where I want the icons more subdued, leaving space for the tracks themselves. And as I can set the map magnification, it makes total sense to be able to adjust icons sizes, don't you think?

I think this case is too rare for us to include it in presets. Aber du könntest einen Vorschlag im Helpdesk machen. Vielleicht gibt es noch mehr die das wollen und können dafür Voten.
You could reduce the size before exporting and then increase it again afterwards.
If you mainly care about the route, you could hide the LoPoi before exporting.

Yeah, good point about the helpdesk.

But the fixed size relation between highlighted points and unhighlighted, that is imho rather straight-forward oversight...
