@Andrew Heard: You're right, we're probably going round in circles or talking at cross purposes. Nevertheless, we should basically agree.

However, in my opinion, Locus is not an app for users who want a simple map tool that is as self-explanatory and intuitive to use as possible.
Without a basic understanding of maps and a willingness to learn and read the manual, many interested users will quickly give up. It's too complex, with too many functions and settings... Even as a long-time intensive user, I still have to search, read the documentation or ask in the forum from time to time. It is almost impossible to remember all the functions, settings and options – especially those that you rarely need.

I have also recommended Locus to a few friends and acquaintances and offered to help them (mostly people who have only used Google Maps or, at best, Komoot). Ultimately without success, for the reasons mentioned above.

I don't see that as a big problem. Not every application can or needs to meet all requirements and at the same time be very simple and extremely versatile.

That doesn't mean that Locus shouldn't be as easy to use as possible, but I think it's difficult to make every button and every function foolproof ("idiotensicher", as we say in German).
Especially since the red badge is a hint and not a button. In my opinion, that's reasonable. 😎

New Beta 4.30.1.8

I have set the Slim Style in My Library.
If I want to move or copy a point or track, the subfolder icons are now displayed in the folder list, which should actually only appear in full style.

Is this intentional? When I select Slim Style, I actually always want to have the Slim Style.

In 4.30.1.7 the list is still displayed "slim", i.e. without subfolder icons.

  - fix: (SILVER) incorrect offset for top dashboard

Regarding the Dashboard.
@Menion: Any chance to implement this: https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/37768-more-dashboard-variables-for-next-via-point

I think/hope this is minor - but would make life on a biketour a lot more convinient.

lG uk - doing some intensive testing for the next 3 weeks on bike vacation.

But this is the wrong place. Please submit suggestions for improvement to the help desk. It's probably a minor issue. But 100 people have a minor issue. And in this case, only one person wants it. That's why we need the help desk and to gather votes.

Actually it's not masterclass to make an app featurerich but simple in appearance and use.
Though you will easily find bad design or control solutions.
Look at the android-dark-material-design, where active controls or tabs in browser are with that darkgrey that it is pita to reliably distinguish from black. Assuming there might have been a LOT of meetings and finetunings to bring that android-design to life.

Well, that red sign next to position is the worst decision of 2025.
Everything else is said.

I guess Locus will never be for beginners. E.g. look at the simple satellite radar screen with GPS off and you're immediately out of the game, 'no visible sattelites'. Don't get in panic and touch the screen..
I'm fine and understand the logic :)
