In the above article it is mentioned that the Locus team is busy bringing IOS-Locus to the same full-fledged level as in the Android version.

Android version full-fledged?

I understand that certain improvements desired by the Locus developer within the Android version are being held back because they cannot be implemented within IOS due to the security policy of IOS. It cannot be that the IOS policy is leading in this. That policy was for me and others the reason many years ago that I replaced my iPhone with an Android device to my complete satisfaction. Perhaps a good reason to inform new IOS users about these kinds of things. It has been the case for many years that IOS has been significantly adjusted under pressure from users.

I fully agree with your "It cannot be ..." statement. However, from the iOS post you refer to, I cannot conclude such policy. Did I miss a point here?

"held back"? And in my following post https://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=8957.msg76573#msg76573 with 14 years to catch up to Android LM, with a single developer and limited resources. Always a difficult decision how to prioritize competing features.

"Held back" - why, where? Is that in your phantasy? Otherwise be more precise.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to respond to the comments for a while due to illness. I suspect that I should explain better what I meant with my comment.

I came across the message announcing the iPhone version. It was made clear that long-term development is needed to a level comparable to the Android version. In itself a nice message for iPhone owners and of course my compliments to the development team for that.

However, I remember a message from some time ago regarding a possible adjustment. Menion wrote that this solution would not be implemented because it could not be implemented within IOS due to security requirements within IOS. If I remember correctly, it was about improving search methods. Using an API from Google was then stopped.

When solutions are possible within Android but are rejected because they cannot be done in IOS, I can only translate that as an expected decline in the level of the Android version. I fear that many more things will not work in IOS in the near future, given Apple's policy. Will that mean that Android will be downgraded? "Nice solutions that we came up with, but it doesn't work within iOS".
That's why I ask whether the Android version is (and especially remains) so full-fledged.

Ah, that's a clear description, thanks. Btw. hope you are already fine!

Yes, I wrote this. iOS restrictions were one of the reasons here, but not the only one. I'm sure, I've explained this problem in "search topic". Simply: we need a robust united search system usable everywhere (Android, iOS, web) and dependency on Google is generally not possible, dot.

Anyway ... our logical dream is to have both apps "identical". This is anyway not possible and we will not push too much to this dream. In the app is already many many features that won't be possible on iOS and it is ok.

So no worry, Android won't be limited by iOS except cases, we do some global feature that needs!! to be united on all platforms.
