Using Locus maps in the desert

I just downloaded Locus map to use on my drz400s so i can use it on the street and in the desert but i must admit that im kind of lost using the software. I downloaded nevada,az,ut and az for when ill be off line in the desert.

The map showed elevation (which i dont need) and also a bunch of "red cross" all over.

How do i remove those ?

Is there a locus for dummy somewhere ? I could use it...
