There are problems with the "navigate to" function in the current beta 4.22.2.1

Mode "walk" or "hike", "Include navigation commands" off. (Which, as you know, I prefer and have therefore mostly deactivated).

I select a destination (point, POI, screen centre). Then I click "navigate to". The route is calculated and displayed on the map. I click on the navigation icon in the top bar. The navigation starts. "Time to target"/ETA is reasonably plausible.

But: There are no navigation instructions! The Next turn panel only shows the destination and the distance to it. "Itenrary" is emty, only lists the target.

Now I click on "Recalculate". Navigation instructions are now created. In addition, a time to target of approx. 6 or 7 minutes is displayed, which is absurd.
But: Only the first few instructions for a small section at the start of the entire route are calculated. After that, the display in the Next turn panel jumps directly to the target. "Itenrary" also only lists these first few instructions, the last instruction shows the remaining long distance to the destination.

See screenshots 1 - 4

This is absolutely reproducible for targets from a distance of approx. 1 km or more. Regardless of whether the destination is 1, 5 or 20 km away, initially no navigation commands are created at all, after the manual recalculation a time to target of approx. 6 minutes is always specified and only the first few instructions are created.

If I then start walking anyway, the absurdly short time to target of approx. 6 minutes is initially counted down as normal. At some point, at around 3 minutes, Lokus "realises" that there is not nearly enough time for the remaining distance and slows down the countdown drastically. Every 5 - 10 real seconds, the time to target is reduced by one second, or it stops/freezes completely.

This was never the case before. Not even in the current stable version 4.22.2. Navigation commands are always generated for the entire route, even if the "Include navigation commands" option is deactivated. Anything else would make no sense.

In addition, the beta version crashes from time to time, but I have not yet been able to find a reproducible reason.

Happy Easter to all!

Another issue with the new beta: GC Live Map does not work. No caches are displayed on the map.
(Not even with Geocaching for Locus.)

An hour for 23 km of hiking is optimistic. Router is BRouter classic. I just use a profile for shortest ways because I decide where to go (locus-reroute.brf), strange estimation because of the profile?

BTW after "Recalculate all" it displays all navigation commands.

Map/theme display, anyone? I've seen that quite often with the latest version. Idk yet when it happens.

@Tapio - working OK for me.
I noticed, after Locus start, the map content panel will always show "Nothing to display" - until I apply a vector map again (directly or via a preset). After Locus restart it will again say "Nothing to display".  No real problem because in fact the map is shown.

Hmm. Now caches are displayed again when Geocaching for Locus is activated.
But not so in GC Live Map...

@loudini
sorry to read this. The only crash I'm aware of happens in case, you are not a Premium geocaching member. I'll look at it and fix it. I hope this is your case.

@Graf Geo
translations will be done over LoRouter project, so they may be incomplete for now. But it will be fixed over time.

Missing navigation instructions > you wrote "Include navigation commands - off" - so why do you expect, there will be any navigation instructions?  :D. They should not be generated even in stable version! But the problems after recalculation are unacceptable. I'll have to look at it. The question is, what to expect here to happen? Hmm, the whole system is starting to be more and more problematic ...

@slarti76
sorry you had to spend extra time with "more" task :-\.

Internally this means a very generic exception on the background.
    /**
     * Negative result of "Move root directory" task. The task finished with an exception.
     */
    const val RESPONSE_MOVE_DIR_FAIL_EXCEPTION = 12521
The best in such cases, is to create a system bug report... hard to help otherwise.

@Diddi
Presets > only after restoring a backup or manually copying into the "presets" directory, right? This will be solved in the next version.

Yes I think so. The speed belonging to the applied timestamps do seem to be very far from reality. It is a mystery how Locus manages this.

...

I thought I had described it clearly and concisely. So again: It's about the "navigate to" function and not about route planning with saving the route.

Of course, there is a difference whether I create the route with or without navigation instructions. In the first case, the navigation instructions are created immediately, in the second case none are created and if I want to navigate the track, Locus generates navigation instructions based on the track geometry. This works wonderfully, and I personally have better experiences with this than with the navigation instructions created in the same way. And this is exactly how it is described in the manual and in the documentation: "Locus Map automatically generates navigation commands along the route in places of the most remarkable direction changes."

The same happens, of course, if I want to navigate directly to a point or an address, etc. So "navigate to". If the "include navigation commands" function is deactivated, Locus creates navigation instructions based on the geometry. The "Itinerary" lists these, of course without street names (instead "unknown street" - logical, because only the geometry is taken into account). This was the case in all previous versions and also in the current release version. Only the beta does not do this and that is completely nonsensical. You can't tell me that this is what you want.

I prefer navigation based on the route geometry. It's more reliable for me and also works off-road. I've been using it for years and have always found it better and clearer than the instructions when "include navigation commands" is activated.

I'll repeat the steps again to avoid misunderstandings.
Stable release version 4.22.2:

  • I click on a point.
  • I click on "navigate to" (icon below), "include navigation commands" is deactivated.
  • Route is calculated and displayed (of course without blue dots on the track).
  • I click on the navigation icon at the top.
  • I select navigation.
  • Navigation starts, navigation instructions are displayed.
  • When I open the "Itenerary" list, all instructions up to the destination are listed (all items "unknown street", of course).

You and anyone else can check this.

But in the last beta there are no instructions. Completely nonsensical.
