Hi,

normally I connect my computer (Win11) to my phone (Pixel 6 Pro) via
USB port. Afterwards I have access to the folder
'Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro' and are able to copy
tracks and maps to the subfolders.
Since the last updates (either Android 14 or Locus 3.70.4) the folder
'menion.android.locus.pro' is not shown anymore in Android/data.

So far I tried:
- deinstallation of Locus, new installation
- switched on Android developer functions with USB debugging

For all with similar problems:
Meanwhile I did some more research.
It looks like the January update from google crash the Pixel phones.
Some phones are completly broken, on some phones the apps are
not allowed to access their own data directories. Access rights for
the user disappeared, ....
Unluckily on my phone the only affected directory was the menion one :(

After all, I've to wait for Googles correction.
Sorry for the post
same result.

Any help would be great.

Hello,
I've read about this issue (a problematic patch). Unfortunately to my Pixel 5, seems that even these minor patches are not supplied, so can't confirm.

There is no logical reason, why (only) Locus Classic should be affected by this and I have no idea how to help here for now, sorry.

#2
I have exactly the same problem on a new Samsung phone with Android 14.
With FileManager+ on my phone I can see the folder and enter it but on my PC (Win 11 Pro) it's not visible.
Putting new Freizeitkarte maps in the correct location was impossible, I had to move them later inside my phone with FileManager+.

For your information:

I installed Locus Map 4 and got no problems to
access 'Android/data/menion.android.locus' and all
of its subdirectories via pc <-> USB connection

Good news: suddenly the folder Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro is visible and accessible in Windows 11 again.

Hi,
I have the opposite behavior here

No problem to access 'Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro' from Windows but none of my Android file managers can access this folder on the device itself.
MiX gives a warning that this is blocked for privacy security reasons.

I don't remember since when this is the case but I remember some times when I was editing custom maps' XML directly on the device...

I bet this is more a problem from Android moving to similar dictatorial behavior as iOS than from Locus itself.
I hate those companies (Google and +) deciding what is better for the user.

Still, is it mandatory for Locus to store files in the Android tree instead of Documents ? I would expect any app to be able to access files located in Documents without any restrictions

Cheers

Crazy Google engineers indeed.
Yet, there is some remedy from Locus perspective. Steps:
1) BACKUP! This is a Locus function and the target can be any folder, hence accessible. Essential to secure tracks and points in case of trouble.
2) use the Locus settings to move the Locus main folder to /Android/media (!!!) - this is accessible by all file managers I know.
3) depending on further settings you may have done, move the special folders (mapsVector, SRTM, etc. etc.) as fits
