Add photo to route description
« on: October 03, 2020, 18:16:28 »
Hi,

I wonder if it is possible to add photos to the description of a route (not attached to a point, just a photo in the description). Looking at the rohter routes I bought in the Locus-Store in principle it should be possible. However, I couldn’t find something about this in the manual. Is there a way to do this?

It's quite a simple method. Description for points/tracks may be full-featured HTML code, so images attached to Rother tracks are currently only linked ("<img src="">) to web images, nothing more.

Hi Menion.

The linked picture in gpx track description is not displayed in Locus.

Thank you both,

I added some simple html to the description directly inside Locus. In principle the content renders o.k. in the detail information of the track. However, in the track folder the html code is visible (see screenshots). Moreover, the linked image is not displayed.

In the (exported) gpx the part looks like this:
Code: [Select]
<!-- desc_user:start -->
<b>Bernrieder Panoramaweg</b><br>
<img scr="https://www.w3schools.com/images/lamp.jpg" width="100" height="100"><br> Rundwanderweg mit schönen Aussichtpunkten...
<!-- desc_user:end -->

What am I doing wrong? Btw. in which directory locus is looking for the linked image if I just use <img scr=”test.jpg”>?

Try img src not Img scr

A very good remark - that solved all issues. Some time ago I was in a training in which all participants got the following advice: „embarrass yourself daily”. Mission accomplished!

Btw. if no absolute path is given the file has to be in /Locus/data/import (or relative to this.)

I think it would be worth to add the html capabilities in the manual (maybe in the section “Save Route” on this page).

Thanks Sir !

Question:

1.  Add a marker that indicates those points with extra in attachements would be nice. "A (red) circle around the map Icon ? ". (= Not urgent)

2. Can you make the text also "clickable" in the general route Description ?
(In the individual poi waypoints display the desc text is "clickable)

3. Can the gpz extension be recognized by Locus]? (Probably a relatively easy job ?)

By zipped (gpx + "files" folder) > into gpz, just like zipped (klm + "files" folder) > into kmz.

App "gpx viewer" supports gpz extension.
Very comfortable by the file extension you can directly link to your preferred GPS app.

Locus only imports as a .zip file.
But .zip is  reserved for standard unzipping.

(Locus actually generates a (kml + "files" folder) nicely as kmz,  but for (gpx + "files" folder) you still have to zip both manually)

Import demo was by Locus Free 3.49.
All images are displayed inclusive .gif.
By image program: Google Photos !

An operational problem was detected !

- Import than remove the gpz (zip) track out of database: Q: Remove also attached files ?
- Answer Yes: A reimport of the same the gpz (zip) > shows the images. OK.
- Answer No: A reimport of the same gpz (zip) > No images are shown. NOK
- Import display only:  A reimport of the same gpz (zip) > No images are shown. NOK

How to solve actually ?
- Locus > settings > diverse > remove temp files > unused attachments > delete > restart Locus app.

"Even then there are still some remnants that make the Locus data folder ever bigger ! "

Double check !
- Locus > data > import > Check and remove the Folder with name of the imported (gpz) zip files.
- Locus > data > media > Check select and remove eventual restants of imported images.

Attached the testfile.
For Locus actual 3.49 version by .zip only !
