I added to locus list of recommended WMS maps. If you have nice tips, which are by you "must have" for users, share links here and I'll add them to Locus!

Hi,
here's another german WMS Server address.
Sachsengeoportal:
http://www.atlas.sachsen.de/geobak/servlet/gtEntryPoint

At the far end of the long list, there are the TK50, TK100, TK25 etc. topographical maps. There's also a lot of other more or less usefull stuff.

you should try some examples that are already in application. go to map manager screen, tab WMS, and at bottom click on first button. You'll see some recommended maps, just click on any you want (or add own by second button on WMS tab). If map will be added, check it, and tap on it and select "Select layers" and choose layers you want to see. Use Online maps or Offline SQlite maps to see them ...

I am very impressed with the development of this app. Outstanding work!

There is a great wms service for Alaska - imagery improving all the time and everything on it is allowed to be downloaded and used offline. I do it all the time at work with ESRI products. I have tried it in Locus and the service works great.

Looking forward to being able download tiles and save them on my Android. I have been using HTC phones for a couple of years and just ordered a tablet so I could get more serious about mapping In Android.

Please rename Germany/"Geobasisdatenportal" to "DE.GeoPortal.NRW". Maybe users may see at the 1st view, that it offers services, that cover the german Bundesland Nordrhein-Westphalen.
Thanx, mike  ;)

Hi

I've set up a WMS but it doesn't match with the basemaps - about 200 metre offset - I've seen similar when projections get mixed up.  My data are in Britishish National grid (WKID:27700), but I can produce the WMS in any projection so I tried Web Mecator, but with same effect.  Is there an ideal projection for Locus to use?

I'm not sure, but my issue may be similar to this one on the Esri forum //http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/12115-Project-WGS84-to-British-National-Grid-with-Geometry-Service.

I'm sorry, but for copyright and server reasons I can't post the WMS link here

Cheers

Hi,
currently I support only EPSG:4326. I can add support for more coordinate systems of course. Anyway I use Java port of Proj.4 library that contain only limited part of projections so not all can be simply added. I have also whole system fixed on this one projection so it can take it's time to create some better support :). So please try to solve it with some transformation on your server, if this will be possible

Gosh, that's one I've not used, make me maps all squished :-D I'll have a play with projecting my WMS as that, ArGIS can do most re-projections if it has the right .prj file

Cheers
