Time between GPS locations

When recording a track: Time between GPS locations is about 1 minute --> Easy. (Saves battery)
When starting the screen: Time between GPS locations should be 0 seconds --> Possible?

Result would be like a sleep-mode. When turning on the display you could see your position at the moment.
