outdated google sat images

Google recently updated the sat images in my area. If I look at my home, in Google maps, I can see a lot of new buildings. I get the same images in OruxMaps, but if I choose Google sat in Locus, I see images that are at least 6 years old. (No, it is impossible that they might come from the cache!)

Any chance to get up-to-date images in Locus as well?

Hi,

You could hit the settings button right next to Google Sat Maps in Online Maps Tab. You have the option to delete the cached tiles. Be sure, you want this, because all tiles for this map are gone! ;)

Anyway, i noticed some different images for Google Satelite and Google Hybrid. Maybe they come from a different map server?

Cheers, berkley

As I wrote, the images do not come from the cache, that is for sure. The strange thing is, that OruxMaps shows the new images, and Lucus doesn't. Yes, probably a different server, but this should better be changed.

Hello derBeobachter,
could you give us two informations to make it easier:
1. Tell us the coordinates of your sample so we can test in "our Locus".
2. Please explain why it is impossible that it's not the cache/Offlinedata of your Locus (just to let us share the believe).
Greetings, Druki.

1) In Google Maps, search for "Olympiastraße Innsbruck", Coords 47.2579353 N 11.4050570 E. There are a lot of new buildings to the north, but in Locus you'll see a torn down stadium.

2) I have installed Locus only a few weeks ago, and Google is already serving the new images for much longer.

For me it looks like "Google Satellite" on PC with Locus too. Can you make a screenshot?

Jusc, PC Browser and Google Earth are caching tiles too... ;)
Compare with orux as stated above...

Just to make sure: I have erased the cache, but no change.

However, if I choose Google Hybrid, I do get the current images, but not on Google satellite.

Yeah, got it!
... I played arround with the settings of Locus providers.xml (at folder Locus/mapsOnline/custom/)

Direct compare of the URL:
Orux
http://khm{$s}.google.com/kh/v=107&x={$x}&y={$y}&z={$z}
Locus
http://khm{s}.google.com/kh/v=83&hl=en&x={x}&y={y}&z={z}

So just replace 83 by 107 and you get the newest pictures.
Enjoy!

I would like to use "historical imagery" from google.  It has to be a similar change, but I am not sure how to find the v value.  In google earth on the PC, I can change the date back to 10/22/2005 and the images are what I want.  Trying to figure out how to get locus to dispay the histirical images.  Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
