Having the ability to measure azimuth and distance would be a great improvement on this nifty app. Currently it only functions when the GPS is on and only works from the GPS location with reverse azimuth. The measure azimuth/distance tool in the OruxMap app is very intuitive but the app itself is quite lacking though a simular tool in Locus would be very useful. Or a code could be added in the Add New Route feature so the azimuth would show up where the Distance and Area is displayed in the upper left side of the screen. And it would be nice to have an additional option in "Settings/Localization/Lenght units" for the distance feature to be able to show in feet and meters in lengths over a 1000 feet, like up to 10,000 feet or infinity.

Thanks! you're a genius!

measure azimuth.
That would only work online because the data would be received from a server.
but a nice idea ...

btw.
The distance measurement works even without GPS.

Edit:
misunderstanding!
u talk about azimuth and i mean altitude/elevation

hmm it depend what azimuth you want to know ... just azimuth between two points? then you can simply use guiding feature for this. During planning with "Add new route" is azimuth not needed or is?

Yes, during planning with "Add New Route" azimuth is needed.

Azimuth and distance should appear together on GPS mapping. Example, off the trail in mountainous terrain having the ability to measure between two objects with azimuth/distance is essential for navigating because those of us who work/play in rough terrain off the trail use a compass as a primary tool and a GPS mapping as a reference.

as I wrote before ...

tap long-click on place where you want to go, then tap on address and select "Guide on" from bottom panel. This will display distance and azimuth between selected place and map center (when GPS in locus is turned off). If you see only distance, you may enable display of azimuth in settings or you can select "Guiding" panel in top panel

Yes, I understand using the guide feature, thanks. But what my suggestion is toward is an actual azimuth/distance tool.

Also, the azimuth should show with and when any distance measurement is shown ie in the "Add new route" feature.
In other words, what good is distance without the azimuth. Navigating, plotting a course, track or any other measurement the two things that are paramount are azimuth and distance, they both go hand in hand. It just would be nice to have them both appearing when ever the distance shows, it just seems counter intuitive with out it.

Great app!

Thank you!

I personally do not agree that azimuth is essential as distance but what about this?

Yeah, thats nice, I like that. How did you do that? How about lenghts in feet/meters over a 1000 feet/100m?

Thank you!

how? just programmed this :)) ... you may try test version here viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1404&p=8854#p8854 ... about forcing basic units? hmm is this really useful?

Yes, having an additional option for feet/meters over 1000 feet/100 meters would be helpful for GIS applications in the field. Maybe one day you can work on a "LocusGIS" version of your brilliant app. My dream is to have a PC utility that would convert all my ArcGis layers (shp, e00, gdb ect.) to SQLitedb. Maybe you or GlobbalMapper will one day develop it. At this point I see you are a head of any one else and your work is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
