  I'm not sure which functionality are you missing. On bottom panel is rotate button. When you turn it on, map will rotate as you want!

when you enable screen rotate by bottom button, when you rotate with display, screen rotate by hardware compass, so when you're moving and holding phone before you, screen rotate by your movement. If you want when screen rotate by bearing comes from GPS, then on GPS screen disable bottom 'Compass' button and then orientation will be taken from GPS and not from hardware compass ...
