Can't Save Navigation Track...?

Hiya all/Menion.

Found something very frustrating today and wondered if it was a bug or I am doing something wrong...

Put an address in and got my navigation track via MapQuest - all was great... but it seems I cant save that that track anymore to use another time.

Previously I have changed the name of the standard 'navigation' file that is written from 'navigation' or 'temporary' to my chose file name and it has stayed there in the 'tracks' section for me to use another time with voice navigation without it having to contact the navigation servers....

but now....

I change the name via edit to keep the track but as soon as I ask it to calculate another destination it writes a brand new 'navigation' track but gets rid of the last one I saved despite me changing the name.

Does anyone know if this is a bug - or if not - how I save a voice navigation track for later use.

Cheers.

Hi,
this is not a bug. It was bug if this worked for you before :). For creating permanent tracks that you can use later (I mean that will not be overwritten with new calculation) you have to use function called "Add new route" and here define and store route .. these will remain untouched by new calculation

Many thanks for the quick repy menion.  :-)

I understand what you say but I dont think this method will work.  I use the +end point quick launch to make a voice guided navigation track.   Now lets say I travel that route and like it but want to save the route to use another time.  I tried your method by going into 'functions' and 'add new route' but there is no way to save the current track that was formed with the navigation shortcut.  The only thing that can be done is to select 'add new route' then press the 'compute route' icon and choose what type of route - but even that does not let you save it.  It just remains as 'Navigation in the tracks menu and is always replaced by the next voice navigation regardless of how the track name is edited.

The only way I have found to do it is quite long winded...

I have to export the 'Navigation' as a gpx...
then go into 'import data' and then reimport that file into a POI catagory...
then it will appear in 'tracks' with all the navigation cues properly.

But this is quite long winded as it used to be possible to justr rename directly from the created track but it seems now that all navigation tracks are embedded with the title of 'navigation' which means no matter what I save directly it is always overwritten.  A good example is my procedure I just explained...

I had my nagiational track and exported with the name of 'tester'...
but when it is imported back into the tracks menu it has the name 'navigation' again.
The whole thing seems to be down to the tiny problem that all voice navigated tracks are no longer called 'temp' and sequencially numbered but are now just called 'navigation' which means only 1 can ever exist.

I hope I explained that ok Menion.

Cheers mate.

Hi phoneguy,

you can still go that way:
- create the navigation of your choice
- go to data-manager
- go to tracks
- there is now the track "navigation"
- edit it the way you like it, rename it, choose another category
- that's it ;)

Cheers

I'm worried that this is what he wrote berkley. And this will not work. Tracks that are created by "Navigation" function, share same ID in database and they everytime overwrite itself. Function I told you, to use "Add new route" is really what you need ... steps

1. start "Add new route"
3. tap on third button and select type of route you want to compute
3. them move over map and by first button add new points to route. When you add second point, compute will start
4. by fourth button, save track when you're satisfied!

Thanks berkley - but that doesnt work as meniono rightly said it shares the same ID in the database so will be overwritten.

Menion: thanks for the reply - I appreciate it.  I know this method can be done but it is nowhere near as good as the awesome way we can use the quick navigation seletion icon and choose an addres to navigate to - or a favourtie, or a contact etc.  That method is by far the best method for voice navigation but is only let down by the fect the tracks cant be saved.

Cheers.

yes but method I describe is almost same! Did you noticed small black corners on some buttons? That means that button have second functionality for long click, so try this on first button on bottom panel when you create route with "Add new route"
