did anyone tried this? For example to convert ozfx maps directly to Mercator projection and then to sqlite map file?

I used it to convert a Tiff with associated tfw worldfile, and a PNG with pgw worldfile, to TrekBuddy tar format. Locus was able to render it, but (a) the free version of mapc2mapc adds many cross-marks randomly, (b) I didn't see any way to export directly to SQLite, and (c) I could only get a map for one zoom level. However, I haven't spent much time with it, so there might be options I am unaware of.

From http://www.the-thorns.org.uk/mapping/help/uses.html :

"There is an emerging standard for Mobile Atlas appications - especiaaly on various mobile phones and PDAs. These use a system of Mercator Maps split into 256x256 'tiles' where each tile has a zoom level and X- and Y- coordinates measured from a point north of the Bering Strait. MAPC2MAPC will convert calibrated maps (or ones you calibrate yourself) to tis format. A future version will combine them into a SQLite database."

It doesn't say anything about various zoom levels, i doubt it will eventually support this.

For the moment, the only flexible and reliable method (but not very user friendly i admit) is still this one i've found : viewtopic.php?f=13&t=280#p1107

Cheers,

Cseu.

yes, thanks what I read also cseu. Sounds very nice because mercator projection in SQLite database is exactly what Locus use as primary map source. More zoom levels? You can use same technique as for huge maps. Move all your maps into one subdirectory in maps directory and all will work as one map!

Really? So if I have a map of a country at low zooms, and then maps of several cities at high zooms, I can drop them in a subdirectory of the maps folder and they will work as one map? I wish I had known that a long time ago. I would have built many maps differently if I had! Good to know for the future though!
