Under review / Weather Widget
November 22, 2011, 17:49:29
Just an idea, that came on my mind...

I like the weather service in Pro version a lot. So why don't make a weather widget. It could show the next days with the same symbols as provided in Locus Pro. Displayed options could be the current location or a given location.

What do you think of it?

Declined / Profiles for different GPS settings
July 26, 2011, 06:46:52
Hi there,

we talked many times before about "profiles" for different GPS settings. I recently noticed, that it is already there!
The not so new feature for backing up and restoring your settings makes this possible. All we need is a function to add this feature to right or top panel. So you could easily switch between different settings (profiles) if you want to.

If the function is called, you'll see a list of all available settings and simply choose one. In addition to that, there could be some default settings for new unexperiened users. Like "Car", "Bike", "Bluetooth GPS". Also some options including battery consumption with three or four levels starting from "low energy consupmtion" and ending with "high accurancy".

What do you think about this?

Hi Menion.

The new feature to limit points on map is great. Because long trips have a lot of points. And a lot of Points means using a lot of RAM. And a lot of used RAM slows down the speed of the device. But using the feature as it is right now, you do not see your complete track on the map.

So what about an extended option to this feature. For example:
- show latest x (=1.000) Points on map
- hide y (=95%) of all other Points on map

In this way, you could see your complete track with the latest recorded points very acurate and always have an overview of your complete track.

Hope you understand?

Implemented / Settings for Map Rotation
June 15, 2011, 16:16:59
Hi there,

would it be possible to make a setting, where you can choose what happens when you press "map rotation". I'm always using real map rotation. I just ran the "change view" one time, to find out, that it's worthless to me. So.. Any chances, to have this done?

Implemented / Improving Digital Zoom
June 15, 2011, 16:14:24
Hi,

I switch very often between regular and digital zoom. It is very annoying to find the zoom level you used before toggling.
It would be very nice, if Locus "remembers" the zoom level you were before toggling to or from digital zoom.

What do you think about it?

Hi there,

i recently discovered an app:
https://market.android.com/details?id=c ... oncachemap

As Locus replaces more and more apps in one great app, i thought it would be a nice idea to do the same as "Location Cache" does within Locus.

What do you think about it?

Other features / NTRIP client released
May 21, 2011, 15:54:24
Hi Guys,

just discovered an app on the market:
https://market.android.com/details?id=c ... tripclient

It is a NTRIP client to improve GPS quality. Will mean, with the right Bluetooth GPS Receiver you'll get submeter accuracy!!! You have to have access to some RTK broadcaster, register here:
http://igs.bkg.bund.de/ntrip/registeruser

I personally didn't get it to work right now. Even with the windows NTRIP client from same dev:
http://lefebure.com/software/ntripclient/

I guess, it's a lack of my Bluetooth device, which has a MTK II Chipset:
http://www.qstarz.com/Products/GPS%20Pr ... 18XT-F.htm

Tried to configure it with this little tool:
http://www.4dsystems.com.au/prod.php?id=110

Maybe someone wants to try it and check if he gets it to work? Maybe someone with a GPS device with a built-in u-blox or antaris chipset? Use this tool to setup your device:
http://www.u-blox.com/en/evaluation-too ... enter.html

I know I know, a lot of links and a lot to test. Please, if you do some testing, be sure what you do. It won't brick your phone, but you can destroy your GPS device!!!

Let us know, if someone gets it to work without buying a 5.000 $ GPS device :D

Implemented / [XDA] Quick POI buttons
March 18, 2011, 15:38:12
Hi,

i publishing here a wish from an user of xda-developers.
Here is the link to the original post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpos ... stcount=81

QuoteIf I may have a suggestion I think it would be nice to have something like quick POI button.which means for example when I hover over certain point on the map and place the red cross over it by hitting this button the editing tab would open and I could edit POI info, insert picture etc.I think long press on a point is a bit cumbersome for adding POIs.plus it always loads the address if the place and sometimes it's not what I want there so I have to go to categories-POIs and do the editing there.adding pictures from gallery would be also nice.
Thank you.

So, what do you think of this?

Other features / Getting social?
March 09, 2011, 07:16:02
Hi,

I was wondering if it would be a good idea to have some social networking in Locus?
There are several location based services...
- Facebook
- Foursquare
- Latitude
- Twitter
- many others

What do you think? Is it getting too complex with this?

P.S.
Sorry Menion!

Hi Leute,

So, nächste Frage:

Wie soll Points übersetzt werden? Punkte, POI, etwas anderes???
#33
Hi,

ich eröffne mal den fröhlichen Reigen der Übersetzung und werf mal so in die Runde, wie ihr "Guiding" übersetzen würdet?

Bin mal gespannt...

Under review / Live Weather Radar
February 26, 2011, 09:41:33
Hi,

Another "killer" feature for everybodys use: The Weather!
And pretty challenging for the dev ;)

Have a look at this app: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15854693/wetter.info_v1.0.2.apk
It's german only, so I uploaded it to my dropbox.
A little description how you find the feature I'd like to see in Locus:
- open the app
- hit the menu button
- hit the lower left entry "Niederschlag"
- now you see the past 2 hours of rainfall over germany
- hit the screen somewhere and hit the button "Prognose" on the top
- now you see the prediction of clouds and rainfall for the next 12 hours over germany

I know, it's only for Germany, but if the Germans got this to work, I'm pretty sure there are also services for other countries too :P

This would be a really great extension and perhaps it could be one of the features you could make a widget?

Implemented / polygons in points
February 17, 2011, 08:47:46
Hi.

What about importing polygons to points via a kml? This feature would be very useful for me.

Thanks in regard,
