the listing has been corrected. All works well now.
Thanks and best regards.

Hi druki,

I also wrote the owner and give her some time to fix it. If she does not I might use the workaround you presented. Thanks for the idea :)

Hi again,

believe it or not. I finally tracked down the troubling cachelisting. It's GC3E8B9 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_de ... a626aa8e7a

The listing on the web (have a look in the source code), the GPX file created for this listing and of course any pocket querry including this listing is 2.4 MB in size. It includes this huge data URI that keeps breaking the import of locus on my phone. As far as the listing of the caches tells other people discovered problems at their garmin devices also.

Although I am still wondering why it works on your phone...

Best regards

Hi Menion,

well I now checked with Geobeagle, which also fails during import. Logfile suggest out-of-memory during XML-parsing just like in Locus. Do you think it would be useful to file a report with the androis xml parser team? With Locus I tried as you suggested, all pois hidden, no tracks, no overlays, no wms) does not change anything.

But then again I am very curios, why the import fails with a certain entry in the xml file. That is a different number of the poi in different pocketquerries (weekly updates).

Best regards

Hi Menion,

I am getting a regular crash of Locus Pro with one of my pocketquerries. Others just work fine. GSAK opens the troubling compressed GPX without problems though.

Locus fails at either while importing waypoint 285 or 286. I therefore tried to extract this points from the GPX file and import them on their own. But all GPX with just one single waypoint of those import just fine. I really dont see what I can do here, better for you to look why Locus breaks over this one.

WPT 285 should be the one with <wpt lat="50.946933" lon="11.352433">

Cannot upload the file here (4 M). And the extracts seem to work out. Any way to send you the file?

Thanks and best regards

Hi!

if you insist, I'll move on to getsatisfaction, although that sounds more like duelling someone.

Hi,

1)  in new version, you can enable "Always log offline" in settings

Nice, helps a lot. Useful for me and maybe three other people around the world :) Thanks.

2) this is intent, because

I understand you now. With 1) solved I am satisfied however.

3) all entries marked ... done

Great! Works well.

4) automatic download and import ... it's not so bad right now correct?

Behaves strangely right now. Pocket querry has been created yesterday (1000 entries) and is available for download @ gc.com. Locus keeps telling me that there is nothing for download available... Don't know why. Linkup with gc.com works fine, upload of fieldnotes is working fine. Don't know.

About automatic, I am dreaming even further, like locus checking regularly for new pocketquerries and importing them the a predefined category. Or something like that. But that's not essential. Just dreaming ;)

Kind regards

Hi Menion,

with the new update the geocaching api is working for me too ;) Thanks for that.

I have however a few remarks for consideration.

- during logging a cache to fieldnotes one will get the question (online-log, online-fieldnote, offline-fieldnote) each and every time. Would be nice to have a preselection here that is configurable or something.
- the same feature as above, during selection there is no way to abort the process (granted it's not missed that much ;) )
- upload of fieldnotes. Now all entries are unmarked. I would consider all entries marked more useful.

As for the download of pocketquerries. Seems to work fine. I'm still dreaming about some cool way of automation of let's say regular download of pocketquerries to certain well defined poi categories :)

Best regards

... yes thei're very fast indeed. They add some stuff to their system now and then but there's no real improvement on the existing features. Look at the limits in pocket queries, why the 500 limit on emails? I've seen 500 item querries producing larger files than 1000 item querries. And even if they're not who cares about one or two megabyte :) And the time it took them to come up with a smartphone app (not to mention the high pricetag compared to everything else out there). So I'll stick with Locus Pro, that's for sure :) With the OSM vector maps I like it even more than my old garmin.

The direct download to Locus will be very cool. I am also looking forward on your solution and how to automate the new pocket querries to existing poi categories ;)
