Themes - Vector maps / [Theme] TOTM (V3)
January 29, 2018, 16:09:50
Tiramisù as OpenTopoMap

No routes, only topography, better larger zoom.

for V3 maps

On the OAM maps, there are intermittent streams, embankment, ridges, cutlines, etc....

It is recommended to use with the "Hill shading" map is ON - that the similarity is maximized.

There was no purpose to do an exact copy, but to use the best features.

OpenTopoMap -> https://www.opentopomap.org

Update: ver1.8 (15/02/2018)
- again redrawn the forest, with transparency. Now it is correctly mixed with other fills and objects.
- added or changed: mountain_pass | saddle, natural = stone, tower: communication, volcano, turning_circle, man_made = adit | adit_disused, wells water_well, waterfall, summit: *, fixed reservoir | basin, redrawed bare_rock, completed the color of main roads
- the mapping of the mountainous terrain has been reworked,
- added a layer of "Winter routes", the display - slightly adjusted copy-paste from the built-in theme "Skiing"
adjusted visibility on different zoom levels amenity|waterway / natural = drinking_water|water_point|spring|fountain

Update: ver1.9.2 (15/01/2019)
landuse kindergarten, school...
contour path text rotate_up=false (always uphill")
selection of landuse hospital, residential, adjustment of overlays
slightly thicker contour lines
removed signatures on fence | wall | city_wall
added water sources zoom-min= " 13"
added barrier=turnstile (OAM), name=neighbourhood|quarter
and other things...

Thank you all for testing.
Taras D, Viajero Perdido, check now how your trails are displayed
Fixed:
- display paths with the tag "sac_scale"
- the visibility of the names of the elements "mountain_pass, volcano, saddle, cave_entrance, river, stream | canal, water bodies; ele cave_entrance" ...
- "Place names" now hides / shows everything except for the names of settlements

and various trifles.

Report if you find another errors - together much can be fixed!

I take this opportunity to express my great gratitude to the great people - John Percy, Tobias, Jencek, LocusUser#1,  ManfredG, bm.ffb, and oth. , who create such wonderful themes. This is a huge work, I respect your work!

Now able to work in Locus. Some layers have been added. This theme is only for maps version 3. (lomaps and other V3)
Redone the "scrub", now this is a clarified version of the forest from version 2.
The "wood" is now correctly displayed taking into account the type of foliage and has a different shade, for example, coniferous - darker. Increased object signatures, house numbers, regrouped layers
and many many other small things ....

[
Satellite map  + overlay Lomaps with the included layers of tourism and huts only ... everything else is off

Updated to 3LE+5 (12/02/2018):
- slightly increased the visibility of the trails
- buildings names in Place Names
- underground waterways
- intermittent streams and rivers (OAM only)
- embankment's  (OAM)
- and the little things are different

Hi,

I always needed high contrast themes, without environment details, just roads, sidewals, bike roads etc. Much like Garmin 200/20/25 or Sigma Rox 7/11. The only things that are marked are roads, street names and house numbers. Used colors are black and white.

Toghether with my hight contrast bike dashboard, makes a perfect bike computer (for me).

Hello

Does anyone knows about an on-line map source for transparent elevation contour lines that could be used as an overlay over satellite imagery maps ?

I am looking to achieve something like in Strava (see below) by adding elevation contour on-top of Google or others satellite  maps.

Thanks in advance

best regards

barbudor

Hallo Locus Benutzer,

Update:

new theme in preparation...

I made some updates for cyclists and hope that the theme is now better visible outside.
It now  includes onroad cycleways and some improvements for mountain bikers.
Paths (only one line) and tracks (double lines) are coloured.
Streets are a bit more accentuated. Hopefully the city names are better visible.

This theme ist best for maps from OpenAndroMaps. (http://www.openandromaps.org/) You should be able to use it with maps from Locus store too, but I have to adjust some colours, I think.
Feel free to use and to post your suggestions or questions.

Attention for new users

Please follow these steps

1. download both zips
2. unzip at first  the V-Scale2.zip.
3. unzip V-S2_Cycle_OAM.zip
4. copy both folders to /Locus/mapsVector/_themes/

Themes - Vector maps / [Theme] V-Scale2_Pure

new theme in preparation...

I updated a bit the V-Scale_Pure theme.
Now with motorway junctions and hopefully with better visible town names.

Unzip the the attached file  (both folders in zip) to _themes

Have fun

UPDATE 27.06.2014
Inspired by this question http://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=4000.0 I mad a few smaller changes.
The minor roads are a bit more visible.
Tracks and paths are shown later  (up from zoom level 15). Now streets are better visible in minor zooms.

@Christian,
I hope the motorway and junction tags are once more a bit improved. But it seems not to be possible to get all tags in all zoom levels. Sometimes they are overlapping, or I have to stretch them to far from the ways. May you have a look please?  :D
@borkenkäfer
I removed the "track grades" and other hike or cycle tags in this theme, so pathes and tracks shoud be better visible now

Please unzip the attached V-Scale2_Pure_20140627.zip and replace (only) the V-Scale2_Pure.xml in /Locus/mapsVector/_themes/VScale2_Pure folder.

Attention for new users
As long as it´s not sufficient for us, I will make a few improvments and only change the xml file.
Later I will make one package.

For new users
Please follow these steps

1. download both zips
2. unzip at first  the V-Scale2-Pure.zip.
3. unzip  V-Scale2-Pure_XXXXXXXX.zip.
4..move the unpacked V-Scale2_Pure.xml from  V-Scale2-Pure_XXXXXXXX.zip to V-Scale2_Pure folder you have unzipped before
5. copy both folders to /Locus/mapsVector/_themes/

Themes - Vector maps / Vmap
August 27, 2013, 14:44:58
Some weeks ago while thinking on a map style of may own ( I used Openandromaps but I didn't like it's colours :( ) a friendly guy pointed me to locus for the possibility of using svgs in mapthemes.
I found V-scale, had a closer look at it and started..while getting more and more familiar to Freizeitkarte at the same time.

So I tried to create a theme/style that works with all maps, Locus, Openandro, Sebbos, mapsforge itsself and last but not least Freizeitkarte, too.
OT on
From my point of view, Freizeitkarte walks on a completely wrong way. But it's still 1st choice for bicyle way's.
OT off

The main templates for my theme/style were the openandro themes, so I copied the non physical routes nearly 1:1.
Declared aim was the best possible visiability of ways on and off the roads under certain circumstances on standard android devices (not high end).

light, MTBSKI, HC

pistes within MTBSKI

bicycle ways supported by Freizeitkarte

Themes - Vector maps / [Theme] V-Scale

new theme in preparation...

2013/08/09 Update of powerlines as proposed by john_percy in viewtopic.php?f=40&t=3187&p=21689#p22858

I´ve created a new theme bundle for OpenAndroMaps and maps from Locus store.
What´are the differences to the older Volatile themes?
1.
In older themes, the icons become smaller and smaller as you zoom more into the map
These V(olatile)-Scale themes are full scalable, all icons (.png files) are changed to SVGs (scalable vector graphics). So it´s now possible to let the icons grow while zoom in.
A lot of the icons are inspired from openstreetmap ( https://trac.openstreetmap.org/browser/ ... /map-icons).
Some I´ve created by my own.
2.
The streets and the street names are now better visible.
The descriptions (refs) of the cycle and hike routes are placed along the routes for better visible.
3.
I rounded the end of the wider lines for the refs, so the curves are looking a bit smoother and no longer disrupted.

a. V-Scale_Pure
the theme for sightseeing in the city
b. V-Scale_Hike
like a. plus hiking routes
c. V-Scale_Cycle
like a. plus cycle routes and mtb ways. (including track grades and up and down difficulties)
You´ll see also some barriers at zoom level 17 and up.
not yet available OCM and Winter. (I´m thinking about)

The themes are developed with a Samsung Note 2 and controlled with a Galaxy S2 and Defy.
I hope, they are usefull for you with other phones too.
So please let me know.
click for better view

For installation unzip the bundle in ..Locus/mapsVector/_themes directory of Locus. Don´t forget to restart Locus.

I was playing around with some other stuff, as I thought about hiking and cycling overlays for online maps like Outdooractive online maps.
So I extracted the cycle and hike routes from the volatile themes and put it together with another nice online map.
This is the result:
click on the screens for better view

[attachment=1:jqjk538n]Overlay.jpg[/attachment:jqjk538n]

You can believe me it´s much better looking in reality.  :mrgreen:
1. So extract the small overlay.zip into your _themes directory.
2. load an openandromap (vector map)
3. change the theme to Overlay-Hike p. e..  (you´ll get the second picture above)
4. load the outdooractive (online map) as overlay choose mode "Muliply" and at least 75%, better 100% for opacity. (3. picture)
5. Now you´ll have your Outdooractive map with hike routes form openstreetmap

btw. normally you would load the online map (outdooractive) first and the overlay (map) later, but my way descibred above is the better one.  ;)

Themes - Vector maps / [Theme] Voluntary
March 04, 2013, 18:22:01
Theme last updated 22 January 2024. Download and install from https://voluntary.nichesite.org

The Voluntary themes support OAM maps and both new and old LoMaps.

The Voluntary theme is designed for clarity of display. Its colours are based on UK Ordnance Survey conventions and will be fairly familiar to British users. Even if you are not British, the colours and styles will probably work well for you. It automatically scales for devices with displays of different resolutions and symbols enlarge smoothly for higher zoom levels. The zoom levels at which various features appear has been adjusted to provide optimal information and reduce unwanted clutter.

You can choose Hiking, Cycle, City, Multi, Yellow or Transparent style when you select the Voluntary UK theme.

The styles take advantage of switchable options. Display of hiking, cycle and mountain bike routes can now be switched on or off, as can highlighting for each of them. The number of options shown is relatively limited to aid ease of use. Cycling, Hiking, City and Road styles function almost as presets with a limited range of tailored options. Within these particular styles the display is subtly tailored to its purpose: for example, Road displays junction and road numbers better; Cycling has a better display of cycle routes. Multi, Transparent and Yellow have a fuller (but manageable) range of options. Locus remembers the settings of the options for each style.

The City style is aimed at use in large cities such as London and has a less cluttered (and slightly faster) display at low zoom levels. Colours in the Yellow theme are more muted and are aimed at use with overlays.

A "Transparent" style turns off the map background and enables use of a vector map as an overlay on top of a satellite image in Locus. Similarly the "background" checkbox in the Yellow style can be used to achieve the same effect.

Generally, blue dashes are cycle ways, green dashes represent dual use both on bike and on foot (bridle paths in the UK), and brown shorter dashes use on foot only. Blue blobs are cycle routes, green blobs are hiking routes. Mountainbike trails are shown by violet blobs. Cycle routes are also indicated by blue dashes on the roads. Hiking, cycle and mountainbike routes can be emphasised by selectable overlays.

The theme is designed to work well with both LoMaps from Locus Store and maps from OpenAndroMaps. Footpaths, bridleways and cycleways are indicated on the map by dashed lines where they follow the path of a mapped track or pedestrian way if the map supports it. On maps from OpenAndroMaps, blue dashes on roads are either cycle routes or roads with cycle tracks alongside, while shorter blue dashes on roads show cycle lanes in the road.

The Locus package includes two flavours: one that works with older LoMaps (LE) and one that works with the newer LoMaps as well as Mapsforge maps, such as from OpenAndroMaps (V5 LE). The appropriate theme appears according to the map selected.

Also included is the visually-similar Velocity theme for a simpler display with much faster drawing.

The package is also available in  versions for other apps such as Cruiser, Orux Maps, etc.

o V5 for latest versions of Cruiser, Orux etc
o V5- for apps that cannot display text on curved paths
o V4 for apps that cannot scale dotted and dashed lines.

Voluntary and Velocity themes can be downloaded and installed from https://voluntary.nichesite.org

Themes - Vector maps / Re: [Themes] Volatile-Bundle
February 12, 2013, 19:12:46
Quote from: "voldapet"It depends which theme do you use and data of vector map (release date). There is new map with date:  31.1.2013, which contain mentioned blue polygon.  It is rendered with these instructions:
<rule e="way" k="*" v="*">
<rule e="way" k="natural" v="sea">
<area fill="#b5d6f1" />
</rule>
<rule e="way" k="natural" v="nosea">
<area fill="#50F3F3F3" stroke="#F3F3F3" stroke-width="1.0" />
</rule>
</rule>
I am using a map with release date of 2012-12-10 from http://www.openandromaps.org/en/downloads/europe - where is the later map from?

edit
Quote from: "jusc"The stream isn´t shown too with your theme(s) as far as I can see. So we have to make more tags more transparent I think?
It is now visible in both versions of my theme. The patterns need to be partially transparent as well, which I had already partly done in the brite version. I attach the updated themes.
My original reason for making the landuse/wood patterns transparent was for areas in the UK where park and woods overlap, which is just what koksch was finding in Dresden area. The problem with this stream is different, Layer = -1.

Themes - Vector maps / [Theme] Volatile-Bundle
January 28, 2013, 13:39:08
further development stopped.
new theme in preparation...

Hello,

Update 2013/05/05

I have changed a few things in my Volatile themes. Now there are 5 Volatile themes.
I made some small updates for the Volatile bundle. There are no significant changes inside the themes, but now you can use the 5 Volatile themes with the Freizeitkarte (<!-- m -->http://www.easyclasspage.de/maps/seite-2.html<!-- m -->) too.

Scroll down for  Volatile-Bundle_V2.zip

I divided the hiking from cycle theme, added the Volatile_OCM and the Volatile_Winter theme.
The Volatile_OCM theme ist inspired by the excellent OpenCycleMap of Andy Allan from <!-- m -->http://opencyclemap.org<!-- m -->.
The winter theme is the "snow covered" hiking theme. But nevertheless you should see the ways. <!-- s:-) -->:-)<!-- s:-) -->
Only in the winter theme are ski pistes included.

You can use original Locus maps (direct download from Locus shop) and (optimized for) kech61s maps from OpenAndroMaps as well. But the layout differs a bit in few points.

Volatile_Winter
Only the winter theme includes ski pistes as you can see below. I made the pistes a bit more visible.

Volatile_Hike
The Volatile hiking theme is inspired by lonvia hiking ways (<!-- m -->http://hiking.waymarkedtrails.org/de/<!-- m -->).

Volatile_Cycle
Includes the cycleways, regional, national and international cycling and mtb trails.

Volatile_OCM
Very similar to the cycle theme but with more "transparency".

Volatile_Pure
This theme is the base (naked) theme without ski pistes or any cycle or hike routes from national or regional cycle or hike networks.
Cycleways and footways are shown of course.

The themes are mostly created and tested with the Galaxy Note 2, so it´s possible, that there are changes necessary for other phones.
Feel free to use them, but I have one request: If you want to have changes or improvements, or you do these changes by yourself, please let me know or offer them in the same way.
