Locus Map Classic 3.68.2 with OpenAndroMaps installed on a Pixel 7a running Android 13. Sometimes, when I pan a map, part of the screen does not redraw the map correctly - see attached screenshots. When this problem happens, if I pan the map a very small amount further, so that most of the area I am viewing remains on screen, then the entire screen draws correctly. Any thoughts on why or how to eliminate the problem?

LM Pro 3.55.1 on a Pixel 5 running Android 11 - well actually Android 12 as of this morning - problem is the same on Android 12. I mostly use OpenAndroMaps in LM, but I also have a couple of LoMaps. If I have the screen displaying an area covered by OpenAndroMap, do a search that will take me to an area on an LoMap, then when I tap the search result to show the map, I get a blank screen with just the POIs showing. The only way to get the map to display is go to Map Manager off the three bar menu, find the LoMap in the list of maps, and select "Center map", which causes the LoMap to display, then repeat the search to get to the location I want.

The same problem happens the other way as well - if LM is displaying an area covered by an LoMap, and the search takes me to an area covered by an OpenAndroMap, then again I get the blank screen except for POIs, and have to go through the same process as above to get the map to display.

See attached screenshot after performing a search that goes from OpenAndroMap to LoMap. Even closing and re-opening LM doesn't fix the problem - I still just see the POIs until I go into Map Manager and center the map.

Troubles & Questions / Brouter with LM4?
April 08, 2021, 11:22:40
with LM Pro 3.x, I use Brouter as the routing service when planning routes in LM, and then export the routes as GPX to my Garmin device for the actual navigation. With LM4, can I do the same?

Locus 3.48.0 on a Pixel 4 running Android 11. I have the OpenAndroMaps world 1-9 raster map installed (http://download.openandromaps.org/maps/world/W1-9-J70.mbtiles) and also their vector maps for Australia and Europe. If I'm in one of the detailed vector maps, and zoom out and then pan across to an area not covered by the vector maps, all I see is a blank white screen where the map should be. Zooming in or out at this point makes no difference. I have to select Maps off the main menu and center the world raster map from its three dot menu to get it to appear, after which I can see the map for the area that was previously displaying as blank.

Conversely, if I have the raster map displaying, and pan across to an area for which I have vector maps installed, Locus doesn't switch to the vector map as I zoom in. The only way to get the detailed vector map is to again select Maps off the main menu and center the vector map off its three dot menu.

I installed the just released Android 11 beta 3 on my Pixel 4, as it's pretty much the final release before the real thing. One thing I have noticed with it is that if I have Full Screen enabled in Locus display settings, then none of the icons in the bottom and right panels function - tapping on them gets no response.

If I turn off full screen display in the settings, then the icons function as expected.

Android 11 build number RPB3.200720.005 and Locus Pro 3.47.2.

Still in beta, but from my playing around seems to work OK: https://www.openandromaps.org/en/the-naming-of-maps-and-pois-are-changing.

I followed the instructions at https://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:move_to_new_device_sd_card to move Locus from my Pixel phone (original model) to a Pixel 4. I set the new phone up from scratch rather than moving my apps and configuration to the new phone. The problem I had was that after having completed all the steps in the Locus move instructions, although my purchased LoMaps were there under the Locus/mapsVector folder, and Locus could see them there (they showed up when I opened the Locus menu and selected Maps / Region etc), if I selected any LoMap and then asked Locus to center the map, rather than the LoMap it displayed an online map instead.

I had to download all the LoMaps again from the Locus store to be able to use them in Locus. Both old and new phones were running Android 10 and Locus Pro 3.40.2

I just noticed that as well as the .hgt files in the /Locus/data/srtm folder, there are hundreds (636) of zero byte files with a .empty extension, all with names of the form <lat><long>.empty - eg S44E149.empty. Can I safely delete these? Locus Pro 3.40.2 on a Pixel 2 running Android 10.

Locus Pro 3.38.3 on Pixel 2 with latest June 2019 Android 9. When I do a search for a place in Locus, and then tap on the search result that I want, to position the map at that location, I frequently see square or rectangular blank areas on the map screen - they're not completely blank, they show a grid of light grey lines on a white background. See attached screenshot.

I can always get rid of the blanks by zooming in/out or out/in, and once I've got rid of them I can pan around and zoom in or out without the problem happening again. I've seen the problem both with LoMaps and with OpenAndroMaps. The problem doesn't happen every time I search, but often enough to be annoying.

Locus Map Pro 3.38.3 on a Pixel 2 running latest June 2019 update of Android 9. After buying and downloading a map, I press the back arrow at top left, but when I get back to the screen I've taken a screenshot of below, pressing the back arrow merely reloads the same screen. I've noticed this problem several times now. The only way to get back to the map screen is to use the Android overview button to view all running apps, terminate Locus from there, and then start it again.

I noticed today that map updates were available, so I downloaded the updates for the various Australian states and territories. Downloads that I initiated and waited for them to complete before starting the next were fine, but when I queued the remaining downloads, I noticed that they each appeared twice in the list of ongoing downloads, and they did each download twice. I definitely did *not* select each update twice when checking for updates. See screenshot below from the ongoing downloads screen. This is Locus Map Pro 3.34.1 on a Pixel 2 running Android 9.

I have Locus Map Pro 3.32.2 with Brouter as the navigation data source on a Pixel 2 running Android Pie. When I get Brouter to generate a route, it shows the expected total ascent for the route, but when I import the Brouter gpx into Locus, is it possible to get Locus to show me an elevation profile for the route?

I found a message here from a few years ago saying that a swipe up from the bottom of the screen would do this, but on Android Pie that action is used for app switching, and that's what happens when I swipe up.

I've installed a number of external map themes to see what they're like, using the quick install method. How do I get rid of the ones that I don't want? There doesn't seem to be any way within Locus to delete them. The themes seem to be all stored under the /Locus/mapsVector/_themes folder on the phone, with a separate sub-folder for each theme. Is it just a matter of deleting the folder(s) for the theme(s) that I don't want?

I downloaded the OpenAndroMap France North and France South maps within Locus on my phone by tapping on the Download link in the web browser on www.andromaps.org and choosing to open the link with Locus. The downloads appeared to complete successfully, but the maps don't appear to be there. When I zoom in on France beyond being able to see about half the country on the screen, the map just goes blank, and when I look in Locus under menu / Maps / offline, the France maps don't appear there.

For each download a message appeared on the phone screen at the end of the download:

I wasn't sure what this meant but I answered Yes each time. Any suggestions on what has happened?

I'm using BRouter from within Locus to create routes using from / to / via1 etc, which results in BRouter creating a brouter0.gpx in the /Locus/mapitems folder. Is there any way from within Locus to export this file with a more meaningful name so I can then copy it to a dedicated GPS? When I view the gpx file by selecting Map items from the Locus menu, this is what I see - there doesn't appear to be any option to export the file. This is Locus Map Pro 3.23.2 on a Google Pixel running Android 7.1.2.

Running Locus Map Pro 3.23.1 on Android 7.1.2 (Google Pixel). Every time I run Locus, I get this message in the pulldown notification area. The notification can't be dismissed by clearing notifications, and remains there after closing the Locus app. I had a look in the /Locus/logs folder on the phone's internal storage to see if I could find any information regarding an error, but there are no files in that folder. The only way to get rid of the notification is to reboot the phone.

The maps I have installed are the Locus store maps for Austria, Italy, Switzerland, and Australia. When I am using the Locus app, everything appears to work correctly, it's only that this strange notification appears every time I run the app.

Screenshot of the notification attached:

Troubles & Questions / Map updates
April 19, 2017, 13:37:43
When I go to the Locus store in the app and check for map updates, the response I get is "No data. No valid data". Is this indicative of a problem or just an indication that the maps I have downloaded do not have any updates? If the latter, then the response could be better worded to indicate this rather than displaying what could be construed as an error message.
