Troubles & Questions / Re: Track recording question
September 06, 2017, 14:16:42
Number of track monitoring items - defines number of visible track monitoring items in a grid on the panel.

I don't know what this means. What is a track monitoring item?

Troubles & Questions / Track recording question
September 04, 2017, 03:22:25
In the track setup menu I don't understand the option "Number of track monitoring items".  I have tried changing that option, but I can't see what difference that makes. The Help File didn't answer that question for me, either.  Can someone explain what the difference would be between setting that to a high or low value?

Ah, not a bug then.  Just a difference of opinion on how it should work. At any rate, now that I know what causes the issue that I had, I can watch for it and turn them on for viewing afterwards.

Thanks for the response.

I'm using V3.24.3, but this bug existed before this.  I just learned how to replicate it while playing with the update.

I'm viewing an offline list on the map.  Turn on Live, and I see a couple new caches pop up nearby. Select each new cache to open the description and select Copy To (my offline list).  The next time I open Locus (with Live off), the new caches are not showing on the map.  When Locus copies them to the offline list, they are marked with 'do not view'.  The eyeball selector is crossed out.  I think when an item is copied moved or imported, it should default to View ON.

Very nice. I mistook that option for Write Note instead of Personal Note. Thanks for the help.

Is it possible to create or edit a geocache personal user note? I can't find how to do that if it exists. If not, I wish it were possible. I use that feature often.

Nice <!-- s:idea: --><!-- s:idea: -->  As I have quite a few aerial maps, it would be most useful to be able to display some sort of "hybrid" by overlaying i.e a streetmap or topo ontop. For instance, being able to mix an aerial with a topo to view altitude curves would be the best thing since sliced bread.
My garmins do this, and it's awesome. BirdsEye aerial overlaid on a topo or OSM map plus tracks and routes on top of those.

I now have Locus 3.22.2 and the import works just fine. Many thanks for the fix!

Thanks!  There are all sort of hidden gems in this app!  Just takes a while for a Locus newbie to find them.  :D

Unfortunately, BaseCamp won't open the Locus export. However, the Garmin 64st opens it just fine.
And my wife's iPhone using Cachly opens it just fine.  This will work!
This lets me do the equivalent of a Pocket Query with my phone while in the field, and then send the GPX to the Garmin and my wife's iPhone app and we're ready to go - no computer needed.  It's come in handy several times when we were in the boonies and we saw an interesting area to explore/geocache.

Here is a sample BaseCamp GPX export. I exported to my Dropbox and then imported from Dropbox into Locus Pro.

Troubles & Questions / Importing from BaseCamp
March 05, 2017, 15:09:22
Since we use a Garmin when we geocache together, I also use BaseCamp a lot.  If I export a GPX from BaseCamp and then import it into Locus Pro, the geocaches are listed by GC Code, not by name. I'm thrilled to have a phone app that recognizes my waypoints, tracks and routes, but sorry to see that geocaches are not listed by name. I have looked through all the settings, and I cannot find anything to change this behavior.  Am I doing something wrong somewhere?

I've been working with Locus Pro since purchasing it the other day. We also use a Garmin when we geocache together.  One of the things I used to do with another geocaching app was to use the app to capture a group of caches and then export that group as a GPX file and then copy it to the Garmin.  It would work like this:
1. On my phone, pan the map to an area of interest and let the Live API fill in the map with geocaches there.
2. Grab and export all the visible caches on the map as a GPX file.
3. Copy the GPX to the Garmin.
I don't see a way to do this with Locus Pro.  Is this possible?
