Thanks for the response, menion.  I'll make sure I place them in that folder.

Sorry, gynta, as menion indicated, it's a calibrated image, not map.  My bad. :)

Don't know if it was mentioned in this thread or elsewhere on the forum (I looked and didn't see it), so forgive me if it has been, but I like to create a set of points in locus to help calibrating the maps.  Make sure the points are turned on when you start the calibration process and after you set a calibration point and open the map to set the corresponding map point, click on the appropriate POI and the exact coordinates will pop right in place.  Eliminates having to zoom in/out to get it as close as possible and reduces some of the error.

Thanks for this option, menion!

P.S. Once the map is calibrated, I assume it should be moved to the maps folder within Locus so that it can be turned on/off as needed?

Add-ons & Co-apps / Re: Addon - Geocaching

Love this add-on!  Thanks very much for developing it.

How difficult would it be to program the app to connect to information on http://www.waymarking.com/ (Affiliated with geocaching.com) and/or http://www.opencaching.com/  Certainly neither are a neccesity....but if you so chose to do that, I'd certainly send you a donation.  :D

Thanks again.  Art

Menion, the problem you're seeing is what's happening for me as well.

Other features / MAPC2MAPC
June 03, 2011, 16:17:51
The newest version of MAPC2MAPC has an option to create RMAPS/sqlite.db atlas maps which work in Locus. I took a regular aerial (with a world file) from my work's data library and converted it to sqlite format and loaded it easily into Locus. So, this means we're no longer required to use online map sources. You can even use maps that don't have a world file or some form of "geo-calibration" and calibrate it. This is perfect! I have some really high quality aerial photos that I can now use instead of being limited to Google, Bing, etc.

I don't know all the ins-outs of the MAPC2MAPC since I just downloaded it today, but the stuff I did worked very easily. The only downside may be is that it's shareware ($15 US), so if you don't pay/register, the output files will have random "X's" placed all over the images. But, for me, the cost is worth it.

Cheers!

Simply fabulous!  I haven't completely tested everything, but it all seems to be perfect.  Will let you know if I run into any snags.  Thanks so much.

Very nice! Thanks!  Can't wait to test it out.

If you add KMZ support to this app, I believe it will make this the best android mapping app on the planet!  It's pretty close right now, but that would put it over the top.   :D

Good gravy, berkley....I read your answer and thought to myself, "I know how to do that....I've done it before a dozen times and here I couldn't even see the forest for the trees."     Sometimes you just need someone to screw your head on straight for you.  Thanks for that.  :P

The new release work perfectly!  Thanks so much.  Before we close this thread, I do have two questions:

  • When I open up the tracks menu and there are no tracks in there, a message reads, "No tracks in Locus category.  To add tracks into Locus, use ......or import data from MyMaps  How do you import data from MyMaps?
  • How long are MyMaps cached before they are no longer available?  For example, if I'm working in a remote area without internet connection and I open up MyMaps prior to losing the connection, I'll still be able to view the map for awhile.  If I close the app, is it cleared from the cache?

You ARE the MAN!  Thanks so much for the quick reply and fix.  I will definitely test.  I really like MyMaps because I can place property boundaries/project limits and other features to help me know where I need to be.  Nothing like doing work on the wrong property!

Thanks again!

Implemented / Google My Maps wishlist

Would love to have these options added for the Google My Maps viewer:

  • Option to delete points/lines from an existing MyMap.  I understand this may not be possible and if it's not it's ok
  • When clicking on the Edit option for a particular MyMap, have Locus zoom to that location.  Currently it appears you have to manually zoom.
  • Add a zoom option to the menu in case you want to just view a particular MyMap.  Again it appears you have to manually zoom to the location

Thanks for your consideration.  Cheers!  Art

I'm having a similar problem.  Running Locus Pro on a rooted Motorola Droid.  No app killers on my phone.
