When the target is far the line to target shows the distance both at the target location and at GPS location.
That's OK.

When the target is close the distance is only shown between target and GPS.
It should be the other way around, only the reading BEHIND GPS location should be shown in this case.
This has two advantages:
1) the target area on the map stays clear, you can see the map details
2) the distance acts as a pointer (actually arrow tail) and indicates the direction to the target.

Troubles & Questions / GEMF: converted to sqlitedb
September 12, 2013, 17:25:24
I started a new thread, because this is not a speed issue.

wait converted?? nono, nothing like this is possible with Locus :)

Well all my personal files (.SQL and former .GEMF) seem to have a mapname.sqlitedb-journal file associated, date = 9/8/2013.
This is the date I upgraded my phone from ZTE Blade to Xcover 2. I just moved the SD card and re-installed Locus PRO.

One of my original GEMF maps causes an error and will not load, 2 others work well.

The (assumed) conversion probably thought, that the maps used ellipsoidal model, but they had spherical. I do not remember if we ever solved how this data is placed into GEMF file. The provider number wasn't a global solution.

Currently I have only "academic" interest in GEMF maps, other maps provided by Locus are just fine!

@stebu: why you don't tell me about it immediately? :) I'm testing some GEMF map and no problem. Do you have disabled "map shift"? Also if you select this map from list of maps, you still see incorrect icon in title?
Well, I haven't used those maps for a long time. I just checked and they have been converted into sqlitedb format. there is also a "mapname.sqlitedb-journal" file for each of the former GEMF maps.So Locus must have converted them at some stage ???
I'll check if I can find the original GEMF maps.

I have no speed complaints, but the map is placed wrong! My current location is about 17 km to the North of my actual location.

Also, the icon for the map is SQL, it used to be GMF or GEMF.

My maps don't have (a lot) of empty tiles.

The lightning bolt icon is there because Locus thinks that the current map does not provide the tiles that it needs. Therefore it prompts the user to select another map file.

use

http://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?action=unread
Thanks, that looks better!

But still doesn't solve the automatic forwarding to search from this URL?
I edited the NAME of the bookmark, not the URL  :o
Now the forum opens up just how I want it! Thanks again!

About the name of the file being imported:
When I load a bunch of caches from Dropbox using a URL like:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/2cd3ef456abc789/GCsolved.zip (this is fake:)
Locus import box title shows importing "ab789cf17b.zip"?  (This zip file can be found in Locus/downloads/)
I'd like to see GCsolved.zip!

@stebu it's a question, how you open this file. Directly from dropbox? I'm worried, that dropbox do not provide exact name of your file
Well, the url contains "GCsolved.zip",  how can Dropbox rename the file during a http get/post?

BTW The link is https://dl.dropbox.com/s/2cd3ef456abc789/GCsolved.zip   (not www)

Implemented / Re:map tile loading
September 04, 2013, 16:41:30
@Menion:

I tested this with my new Xcover 2 (A4.1, L pro 2.14.1) AND no tiles were loaded when display was off, GPS on etc..
This problem/feature has vanished.

It probably was ZTE Blade (A2.2) strange behaviour?

Yes they are in Locus/mapsVector/. I moved 3 files from the subdirectory direct to Locus/mapsVector/ but still I don't see them. And yes tehy have exact same size.
Just a comment: ivo, are you using "Locus/maps/Vector/" or " Locus/mapsVector/" ? The first one is correct.

So it's better to use *.img files with garmin.devices
My Vote: Stop waste time to optimize import of .img files ;).
My thoughts, exactly!

Right! I'm not happy with the results of Garmin map  :'( This is a free map for Finland, one eager beaver converted the survey map into .IMG format.
Mostly I am missing the shading of different landscape (fields, forests, open cliffs, etc), buildings(!), major roads (now I have two thin lines for opposite lanes), etc.
I do not have original Garmin maps, so I do not know how good your rendering is on them. But this Finnish maps looks much better even on a low performance Dakota 20 than on Locus.

So..., there seems to be a lot to do, so make sure that your efforts are not wasted on a non-publishable feature.

I don't want to sound so negative :), for me Locus is very nearly perfect ;D, I just haven't found a good map for all purposes.

Are you looking for a Finland map? I´m not sure if I understand correctly.
Nope, I have a this map on my Dakota. So I was excited to test it on Locus anmd was deeply disappointed :(
Just don't know if I miss a lot if I don't have a Garmin Dakota: Is this garmin format Finland map significantly better than the Finland vector map from Locusstore or openandromaps?
The "open" maps are almost worthless in the woods (IMHO).
I took two screenshots and placed them side-by-side, judge yourself, which renders the same map better, Locus or Dakota. (Note that the screenshots are 800*480 (Locus) vs. 240*160 (Dakota)).

Screenshots (one image) are at https://www.dropbox.com/s/zvc8diqu5web7cl/garmin_img.jpg
The map can be found at http://eivoittoa.fi/mtk/2013-02-17/mtk_suomi20.img

The Garmin map loads up and performance is outstanding! Really really really love this new option to use Garmin maps. My only 2 complaint2 with the current implementation is that I cannot hide the labels and can't overlay a Garmin map on a Online map. Another big step for Locus! Thanks so much!!

I'm surprised you're happy with it. Results aren't even from half as good as from MapsForge library I think.

Anyway glad you find usage for it. Currently there is not settings for these maps. System that is used directly for rendering is quite a simple and it should be easy to improve it, anyway I'm worried that using IMG maps violate "Terms of use" of Garmin, so I'll probably not public this feature as official in Locus and also will not work (too much) on improvements. I'm worried situation that was previously (more then two years ago) with online maps, when I had to remove almost half of all maps and users were really angry :)
