The "always screen on, when connected to external power" is great!

But I have a doubt, that the external power status is checked only when Locus is turned on, not constantly.
Because it sometime works, sometimes not.
The external power should be checked, when Locus is about to switch the screen off.

hmm ... yes. Seems that they renamed type of cache from "Unknown cache" to "Mystery cache"

Thanks for report, will be fixed in next version
You should allow both types! They keep changing it back and forth, see e.g. http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=322935&view=findpost&p=5390487

@stebu: first problem - thanks, fixed. Second - I do not see any such error. It happen to you just when you open 'Maps' screen? Weird, there should be no attempt to connect to internet
OK, it happened only when I switched off internet while I was using ONLINE map to test the map caching feature.
So no problem :)

Hi!

One minor "downgrade". In current pro (and previously) the selected map type (online, personal, vector ...) was remembered.
In the latest test version, Locus always opens online maps. If I'm using a vector map, I would like vector tab to be opened!

2nd:
When I'm viewing a downloaded online map (peronal) and I have no internet connection, I do not want to see the red "Problem with internet connection" banner. The old system with the error text inside the empty tile was much better.

I have pro v 2.20.2, I just noticed that I cannot disable Poi alert activating from the downloaded Poi.db. (I have finland.osm.map and finland.poi.db in vector maps folder)
Is there a way (other than remove the poi.db) to remove these pois from the alert list?
There should be a selection option in the same menu where the folders are selected.

How about a setting that allows only "easy" zoom levels?
With old Erik's weary eyes probably only 200, 400 and 800% are needed. I think these zooms can be rendered a lot faster than e.g. 350%.

There do not appear to be any easy zoom levels. Not the "doubles" either. Tried and tested.

Also, there is not as much weary eyes as the maps are just tiny on 1080x1920 screens. Check out the screenshot and step away a couple of meters or three from the monitor so it resembles a 4,7 inch display in size. Then try to read the house number and street names :)
I know the problem, too. Very often I use the zoom lock to increase "unreadable" names. But no performance problems on my Xcover 2 (800x480, 4 inch)

I think there are shortcuts to implement 2^n zoom levels instead of having one algorithm that can handle any zoom level.

Tools / Re: sqlite to GEMF map conversion tool

Hi stebu, thanks for this tool. I wanted to ask what density and number of rounds should I use to get max compressed map. Have these values impact on performance?

And second question is why gemftool creates two sets of map:
For example I have 3GB big atlas named atlas.sqlite, After conversion I get atlas.gemf, atlas.gemf-1, atlas_.gemf and atlas_.gemf-1. What's the difference between maps suffixed by underscore and wihout it?
It's over 2 years since I made or used Gemftool! So my answers might not be precise.

The more compressed (empty tiles squeezed out) the map is, the larger the header part is; more ranges of smaller map areas. I think the performance impact is on the app that uses the Gemf map, and I have little experience with this.

If you find that the Gemftool itself is running a long time, then reduce the number of rounds directly and/or reduce the goal density.

The files with underscores are temporary files and  may be deleted. In yor case atlas.gemf, atlas.gemf-1 are the result of the conversion. There's two files, because the size of the map exceeds 2GB, 3GB map is split into two files.

My ISP shut down my home page.

Now you can (hopefully) get the conversion tools (V006) from Dropbox:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/64901427/GemfToolV006.zip

The zip contains:
gemftool.html that has some description
readme.txt probably the same content as above
gemfread.exe
gemftool.exe

Some false positives have been reported by Avira. But I'm 99.9999% sure that they really are FALSE.
One ppm is reserved for NSA :)

Munzee just introduced a pet called Rover. It can sit on any type of munzee. I hoped I could combine two icons instead of making about 10 new icons. I guess I just have to go to the drawing board.
#26
I think I once saw somewhere that a disablde cache's icon is made from two separate icons:
1) the cache symbol
2) a red diagonal bar

Is it possible to do this with any icon in <locus:icon>file:xxxxx.zip:yyy.png</locus:icon>?
If yes, how, please?

@john_percy, stebu: zoom values are drawn in case, there is enough place for them. Did you tried to tap on this scale bar? It has four modes that cycle as you tap on it. Short without zoom, Short with zoom, Long without zoom, Long with zoom ;), so try Long one and it maybe helps.
I've always had only three steps in the cycle. But the tapping on the scale bar has felt unresponsive, so it is possible that my device will not show Short with zoom.

But the problem was definitely different: at one zoom level I had the zoom level visible, then when I changed the zoom level to a particular level (11 I quess) the zoom level was not displayed, changed the zoom again and zoom level is there?

Edit:
Now I see the light. If I allow landscape screen, I can see the 4 cycles. On portrait mode the side menu also affects whether zoom level fits or not.
I have suggestions:
1) It's not necessary to display decimal km (10.0) 10 is fine, even 1 km
2) Make it so, that with  Long + zoom  the zoom level is always visible
3) Could you make the scale lengths so that the significant (first) digit is 1, 2, 5, 1, ...

At zoom=14 or scale=1000m (don't know which is critical), the zoom value is not displayed in recent versions. See screenshots

Also zoom 10 behaves the same way. Pro 2.19.1, vector map of Turkey. When this behaviour occurs, you cannot get the zoom level displayed, it shows the short distance, then probably two times the longer distance and then back to the short.
Now I changed maps to online, and every zoom level was OK. Then switched back to Turkish map, and no problems there, either???

#30
This has nothing to do with 3/4 digits in the coordinates!
Das Anzahl Nummer in die Coordinaten hast nichts zu tun mit deine Problem.

You are searching (suchen) for a geocahce. In english the function is expalained:
"By coordinates
Search for the nearest objects around the selected location"

So Locus looks in its database and finds nothing close to these coordinates.
You probaly have not downloaded any geocahes into Locus in that area.

You have to first download a GPX file with geocaches into Locus or use some of the "Live" methods.
Geocaching with Locus has been explained here
