In contrary to profiles, extra specification does not make much sense. I have spoken  for specification for common users, not experts. For the stats to be really useful, not just bells and whistles.

Whatever will be Menion's final decision, I will be fine with that. I have just wanted him to hear various opinions.

sorry, for me neither offline (LoMap, OAM, raster) nor online maps are displayed ::)

What you see, sync data between two devices, show that there is not a simple direct connection between devices on the table, but that points/tracks/groups are uploaded into the big database from one device and then downloaded to the second device. Once this will be working, it is the first step for another service that need this, like > drawing track on the web and send to your devices once saved, or sharing some points/tracks with your friends over the simple link or editing points/tracks on the web as well etc.

@tapio
if you won't need it, you don't have to use, it will be definitelly optional service.
Anyway, together with web site for planning & sharing, it will be ... ahh finally :).

Question:
At OpenAndroMaps (https://www.openandromaps.org/) they're talking about more and more HighRes SRTM data being used (to allow altitude lines with 10m resolution).
As far as I can see, Locus still downloads the same HGT files as it did years ago, at least the size hasn't changed which strongly implies the resolution didn't improve.
Is there any chance that Locus downloads higher res data, too - where available? Or is there a source for HGT files to download and manually copy into the data/srtm directory? If Locus can use that at all?!

Is there a new version planned because only some few days left?

... and I forgot how to work with official version. 😁

Understand ... searching ... best should be to place a link (to file, URL) directly into the theme. But this makes sense only in case, I add this also into the official MapsForge4 library and it may take some time ...

So in the next version, "temporary" solution: currently PDF (any other format may be useful as well?) file with the same name and location as a theme XML file. In the list of themes, such a theme will have a small badge and long-click offer display of legend.

An idea: currently there are 2 types of buttons that can be added to function panels:

  • Add function button
  • Add link to app
How about 3rd type: Add link to  file? This could for this discussion be a PDF map legend file, but could be any useful file in practice.

Well, the IT is in the 2nd part only. :-) I have posted it for general audience, as some may take it as useful info, others not so much.

Yes, the BRouter servers take from OSM the daily difference files, process them and make the related daily BRouter differential and full updates.

You can check yourself:
http://brouter.de/brouter/segments4/

For usual users nothing changes, they just notice in BRouter download manager less of data downloading and more of data processing.

The daily/frequent  updating makes sense mainly on the current data square only a/o if one impatiently waits for OSM update propagation.

Or, if one wants/needs to cut down the updating network data for whatever reason.

I tried the new circular automatic track, yes it works but why should I use it for ?

What I need is something that connects last point to start point to create a circular track

Every ID has definition if it's hike/bike/car category => based on this, some other parameters are used, like compute of time estimates etc. As I wrote ... it's not so simple :)

Really, I was already thinking about it and I can't simply change the current system to allow bigger modification of BRouter profiles ... for now ;).

Consider adding a regular routed segment as typing a letter on a keyboard, while adding a straight segment as a CAPITAL one.

Consider explicit profile switching to straight line as CAPS LOCK activation.

Consider long pressing route or + button as using SHIFTed letter to type just 1 or 2 CAPITALS.

What is wrong with SHIFT key ?

I see just 1 issue, why to use right SHIFT and not left, if right one is already taken ?

I voted "Long click on "+" button: add manual segment between last point > map center"
Because: a) I don't need what's currently on longclick+. and b) I think it is a rather regularly used function and we achieve a lot of convenience. Very good icitiative from lor74cas.

If this is implemented, @Menion can also allow to hide the manual profile just like the other profile types.
