Hi menion,

some minor problems with some particular geocache listings:
* Caches starting with '<' are not displayed correctly in the list of POIs. Some of them are displayed with an empty name, some are displayed with an incomplete name. Example: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest. ... ramaradweg  => GC2J4NT is displayed without a name. Some other caches of the series are display without the "<xx". Seems like locus is reading a html tag here...
* GC332T8 (Wupperkäfers Heim) => locus crashes when displaying the details of the listing. I can send a crash log if required.

Best regards,
 Elmar / mambofive.

Implemented / switch to night mode automatically
October 13, 2011, 09:35:39
Hi menion,

I learned that you do not want the app to do to much things automatically  ;) , but what about switching to night mode automatically?
I tested the navigation feature on some longer car rides - cool feature, works perfectly! But I can't switch to night mode while driving, an automatic switch would be fine here.

There are lot's of sources in the web dealing with computing sunrise/sunset times, maybe this one could be used online:
http://www.earthtools.org/webservices.htm
They offer a web service which returns an xml with some useful inormation:
http://www.earthtools.org/sun/<latitude>/<longitude>/<day>/<month>/<timezone>/<dst>

Declined / some geocaching improvements
October 10, 2011, 10:58:03
Hi menion,

locus (pro) got my main geocaching app in the last months - very good work!

However, I've some ideas how the "workflow" could still get improved when going caching, let's see what you and others think about it:

* When approaching to a waypoint which has guide turned on, switch from map view to compass view when the distance is below a given value (e.g. 50m)
* When logging a field note for a geocache, turn off the guide to it or any of it's waypoints
* When adding a waypoint to a (multi) geocache, turn off the guide to any other waypoint and (optionally) turn on the guide for the new waypoint.

Declined / link to wap.geocaching.com
July 22, 2011, 10:56:08
The geocache description in Locus contains a link to the full cache listing on www.geocaching.com.
In addition to this link I'd like to see (optionally) a link to the cache listing on wap.geocaching.com. I know, it looks awful and old fashioned there, but I think it's more useful to quickly check the online status of a cache or a TB on the mobile than browsing through the full listing on www.geocaching.com.

Keep on the good work - Locus currently is the app I use most often on my mobile...

Hi menion,

since an update of the app some weeks ago (can't say exactly when), additional waypoints for a geocache disappear from time to time from the map.

Steps to recreate:
- open a geocache containing some additional waypoints
- make the waypoints visible in the map by checking the box next to the waypoints
- exit locus
- open locus again
=> the waypoint disappeared from the map, although it's still in the description of the cache and is still checked there.

The waypoint can still be found e.g. using the compass, but I found no way to display it again.

Best regards,
 mambofive.

Hi menion,

just another small improvement I'd like to see in locus:

When importing geocaches from a pocket query, all waypoints I already manually added to existing waypoints get lost, because I choose to overwrite existing caches.
I'd like to see the possibility to (optionally) keep all waypoints I manually added before the import: importing an existing cache should overwrite the cache description, logs, waypoints included in the pocket query, trackables etc., but keep the waypoints I manually added before the import.

 mambofive.

Hi,

while doing a multicache recently, I had an idea for a small improvement:
- when adding a waypoint to a multicache, (optionally) suggest a name for the new waypoint based on a (customizable) pattern, e.g. for pattern "WP#{0c}", create "WP01", "WP02", ...

Keep up the good work!

Hi menion,

first of all: great app! - I use Locus pro mainly for geocaching, IMHO it's currently the best geocaching app on Android.

I have a small bug which causes to crash the app:
After importing geocaches which are already stored as POI (I selected to overwrite the existing caches), the app sometimes crashes when selecting the geocache on the map. After restarting the app, everything works fine.

Keep on the good work!

TFTA (thanks for the app...)
