ROUND TRIP:
Unless real utility can be found for this feature, integrating it with the options I wrote above (and all the complications of the case), it should be removed, useful and solid functionality better than things like this that do nothing but generate doubts in users.
@lor74cas I disagree on this aspect - although I doubt I'd use it much, I don't see that as a reason to remove it. In my limited desktop testing the results were interesting and within expectations.

The "generate" icon on the LHS (see screen cap) links to/ selects, the Locus navigation profile, so I assume this provides some degree of configuration to meet the desire of the user?

I use it quite a lot to be true. In areas I know, it is nice to simply let the app decide where to go without the need to think too much about it. Anyway, the current system is based on the GraphHopper online service and this does not have an idea about user preferences. This may be improved later in our own solution, but it will really take some time.

Anyway good point > I do not have exact numbers, how much is this feature really used.

@tapio
Speed is included only in case, it is measured by any sensor. In case, it is measured by GPS or mainly computed from coordinates, it is not (and should not) be included.

@Viajero Perdido
weird problem with auto-update. Are you using automatic backup? Does it work? It uses the same system.
And change leaves at 7 days > you click on for example 4 days,, but it still remains in the UI visible as 7 days? Weird.
Anyway 7 days or 8 days, timing is not precise, so a day is delay is not a big problem, but should not happen.

Hi all,

I made a little tool that shows explorer tiles (https://www.statshunters.com/faq-10-what-are-explorer-tiles) in Locus Map, which makes it easier to plan trips to unexplored tiles. It's here: https://liscopridge.nomi.cz/statshunters/

(red are all explored tiles, blue is the maximal explored square)

It helps me find new places to go, and it's a fun way to challenge friends. Posting here in case someone else finds that useful.

Find inspiration here. Has streetname info and multiple route select.

Registration is free and you already get 3 free test attempts.
Download as gpx track + waypoints > Select Directions. (Locus compatible)

Web portal & sync / Re: Web planner / portal

When https://web.locusmap.app is first displayed, or refreshed, the #1-point textbox isn't selected, so the mouse cursor is a default arrow icon instead of a cross icon. The user is therefore prevented from quickly adding their first point to the map, which is confusing. I suggest the #1-point textbox is selected by default.

As far as I know, the data will be updated 2 times a week. That should be enough.

I couldn't post to helpdesk so I write here.
Yesterday I changed a lot of my folders and groups in the app but I forgot to turn off automatic sync. It tried to sync after every little thing I changed.
The problem is, syncing is now crashed. When I try to sync, it stays at 1% (tracks downloading), then the whole app crashes. Resetting the app did not help. Trying just to compute the syncing plan in the advanced settings gives the following error code: "rr$!, code: -1"

Please help, how could I solve this without redoing everything?

Hi,
@lor74cas
Elevation data for routing: we have altered brouter internals to use our company maintained dataset, which combines enhanced SRTM source (viewfinderpanorama) and some Lidar sources. However the resolution is 3'' only.

@balloni55, @Diddi
really, still crashes? Damn!

@lor74cas
Mess, I know  :-\ . Live tracking will be integrated into web.locusmap.app, so this will be solved. Anyway, the rest ... it looks like we will need some guy skilled with PHP who will take care of it. We tried at unite design with existing webs some time ago at least a little bit ...

Because I'm no longer alone on these tasks, as I see in our Who we are page (finally visible our faces, nice right?  ;D), it is best to job for @Jan Čapek :). Jan, any comment here?

@lor74cas
1) Altitude always in metres - thanks for opening this topic. I have already changed this so you can check it in web planner.
2) Profile icon - thanks for the clarification. I added this on my list
3) Srtm files - I am receiving elevation data from the routing server and I don't know what is used internally for the calculation. I have asked @Radim V so probably he can give you more accurate answer
4) Different elevation gain stats - there must be somehting really wrong. I have tried it to reproduce and I was not able to see more than 1 meter difference (rounding issue between browser and backend). Could you share particular example of track where this is happening? Thanks a lot

Hi guys,

thanks a lot for your feedbacks and ideas. As you probably already spotted, we finally officially released LM4 for wide public. We can say we have LM4 app in the state which we wanted for its first release, but truth is that this is not really case for Web planner. We are aware of many missing features/updates which we wanted to include to first release, but time was against us.  On another hand we for sure believe it is already far better than nothing.  ;)

That being said, we have huge list of priorities which we want to handle and which should solve lots of your complains or implements your mentioned feedbacks. Because of that, we decided to leave BETA sign on its header for some time.

In the long-term, we have quite a lot of ambitions with our web portal so be sure we will keep rushing to make it better, its public release is just the beginning for us! Don't hesitate to keep your reports and feedbacks coming please - this of course help us to check we have our priorities right or help us to update our plans (here or even better to: https://help.locusmap.eu/topics/all/status/all/category/30/sort/new_updated/page/1). Also please don't forget that web portal is set of various big and "independent" feature sets, so if you find something strange for example on online LoMaps - like Trump playing golf ;D - better report it to its particular topic (https://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=7191.0).

Regarding some topics which were already mentioned:
1) Not recalculate route when you change main routing profile is intentional to allow you to quickly change it during route planning while keeping previously routed part of the track intact. We will for sure try to find some solution to make it more obvious and option to recalculate whole route if wanted.
2) Ability to easily update routing profile of individual route segment will come soon.
3) Behaviour of routing points on left panel will be tweaked to not loose route statistics from the sight all the time when you put more routing-points.
4) Graphs will of course be not only for planned routes but also on other tabs and will contain a lot more data.
5) Another big topic for us is already mentioned ability to show multiple content from various tabs on the map to allow you for example plan route while having your previous tracks or even somebody else's track on map. Definitely lots of plans there.

So wish us luck to bring it all soon.  :)

The offline LoMaps in LM4 are the same as used to be in LM3. The incorrect priority or wrap of text labels is a quite an old issue - still not ideal. The size of the text should represent the priority of the POIs - we can discuss it, but probably in a separate topic :)

The online LoMaps are updated continuously, let say about every 10 days. The offline every 2 - 3 months
The online LoMaps are updated every 10 days. I assume the LoPoi also every 10 days?

That could then also be mentioned in the new operating instructions. Then the question won't come up that often in the future.

@lor74cas
1) Editable filename of GPX export - thanks for the explanation. Yes, it makes sense. I have created ticket for it.
2) List of reported issues/features that are planned - yes, I will try to do it ... but I am little bit lazy in this kind of work. So hopefully, till the end of this week ;)
3) Pricing - this is the decision made by team and several calculations. I am not the one that should explain it ... but we tried to keep prices as low as we could to be certain that we are able to pay our monthly expenses. So, it is very tricky to compare prices only with respect to functionality ... and ignoring the cost of infra.

@gps2003 Subscriribing to "Gold services" - Oh, we are really sorry. According to our plan there should have been available pre-release version in Beta channel with working subscription since Friday ... but unfortunately we are having difficulties pass Google Play validation process. Hopefully, it will be released soon. Right now there is no way how to subscribe, sorry fro the inconvenience. Please, watch dedicated discussion here for the latest updates: https://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=7258.0.
