Versions / Re: [APP] - version 3.43.+ ( 9. 1. 2020 )

@john_percy
hmm, thanks for the info about incorrect notification. I think I see a reason for this.

@lor74cas
live tracking button is really interesting. May you share with me backup of settings only (backup manager)? It should help to simulate it on my device, thanks.

@Andrew Heard
"Auto-setup of function panels" > most visible (and the main reason) is screen rotation. Try it. App tries to fill top bar first and when it's full, it starts filling side panel.

Coordinate grid: unfinished feature ...

Quick new point: in case, the screen is centered on GPS, then you are right. All various parameters are also saved to point location. Which does not make too much sense, agree ... fixed, thanks.

@balloni55
hmm, I see some values in the log, but unfortunately not enough to fix it for sure. Anyway, I made some smaller changes that may help here, so give a try to the next Beta version. I hope it helps. And thanks for the log!
I found autohide not enabled on right panel, it's strange I have the same set up in Pro and beta. Now it's ok

@balloni55
version for the test is out ;)

@lor74cas
ah sorry, wrong number ... thanks.

Custom button ... what is it? Just a single button in the right panel and you have the right panel set to "auto-hide"?
Exactly the live Trak button on right panel does not disappear as in non beta version

Discussion/New features / Re: Locator Beacon and tracking

So you need "Of course, it would be better if Locus could read and recognize the SMS automatically."
to open the link in the sms directly in locus? I think you need to show to the developer (Menoin) an sms composed from that device to understand if it's possible.

My previous answer referred to the possibility of creating a similar functionality without a dedicated device, but using a smartphone and the Tasker app

For this purpose you can use Tasker,
create a profile that reacts to an SMS request from a specific contact "from +3391234567 and text where_are_U"
with an action, sending sms with coordinates in the form you prefer (the simplest are the built-in gmaps format).
No data connection needed only mobile and gps. (in rooted phones you can enable and disable gps with an action to save the battery, but you need more time to get better accuracy on the position).
Locus is great but I think this is not it's field of use

Hello menion
on my new device "Galaxy XCover s4 with android 9" the mentioned note appears
https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/locus-should-detect-power-saving-mode-when-a-user-starts-recording-track#comment-79982
but in the settings I cannot find an option to deactivate the energy saving mode.
possible settings:
- optimized, this option is selected
- medium energy saving
- maximum energy saving

so far i could not detect any problems during recording even when the display was switched off for a longer time.

Have I missed something?
if not, a checkbox "do not show again" would be useful

on my samsung I find:
options ---> device optimization ---> Battery --> battery use --> 3 dot upper right battery optimization

Add-ons / Re: Locus Map for Garmin
« on: January 19, 2020, 16:13:31 »
Hi, doesn't your model support buttons lock feature? Start/stop feature is implemented to behave similar as native activity apps.
Create waypoint feature is also in consideration.
Now I know something new about my watch, yes it supports this features, never know about that, thank you!

Datafields are not yet customisable but it is of course one of the feature which we want to bring in some future versions.
Is there a plan for making the Garmin watch able to launch/pause/stop the track recording in the smartphone Locus Map app, in replacement (or complement) of the track recording in the watch itself (already available)...?
I do not like the start and stop feature on the watch because there is always the case that an unwanted button press stops the recording track. But the lap/point mark should be usefull.

Hello,
take a look at the image, 5 notification for Locus if we use add-on. Is there any chance to group them in future versions?

Today I tested again the plugin:
recording and guide activated on the phone
the watch as a simple viewer
I found on the watch the Navigation watchface, why is it activated ? I have the guidance on the phone and not the navigation, I was following a track I did with locus planner.
Today it worked perfectly.
I'm still waiting for the custom watchfaces, than it'd be perfect for my use case, long distance running/trailrunning.

Locus Map (4+) / Re: Re: [APP] - version 3.42.+ ( 5. 12. 2019 )

@balloni55
heh funny. This seems to be a side effect of the installed Beta version.

Thanks all for the valuable feedback. Few comments:

  • The size of the buttons is indeed a little larger. It may look that there is a lot of white space, but it is part of buttons. There were resized from previous 48px to 56px (so +25%). Size of images remains the same. Reason? Better usability in the field = easier to press.
  • zoom buttons: definitely optional! and definitely enabled by default. During the activity, mainly on the bike, pinch zoom is quite useless
  • Size of zoom buttons: they are not so wide as before but the touch area is higher. It is the same as in for example route planner in the current version.
  • Cover of the map: agree there should be setup to have the map as clear as possible. I'll for sure try to clear almost (if not all) all components optional, so it should be possible to have a map as fullscreen as possible with additional components.
I agree with all the points you explained.
Just point 1: If you enlarged the button for a better usability in the field (I agree) I think you need to reduce the frame and enlarge also the image icon for a better readability in the field.

Locus Map (4+) / Re: Re: [APP] - version 3.42.+ ( 5. 12. 2019 )

With the two-finger zoom now default in any app I don't think the zoom buttons are needed except in particular use cases.
for me while cycling, gloves, maybe cold hands, two large zoom buttons are more reliable, vive la difference
As I wrote this is a use case, there are also the physical volume up and down buttons that activate the zoom.
 For me there must be a clean basic user interface that everyone can customize for their own purposes.

Maybe I'll get too much feedback ... but I'll still try it :).

Here is how look my Locus Map now for private testing ... what you think? I won't give you any explanation or extra description, just a quick "feel" (and you may, of course, note "what you may miss on this layout most"), thanks ;)

EDIT: main moto: 1. usable outside (not just on couch), 2. simple for new users
Hi,
for my taste there is too much white space wasted as a frame around the bottom panel icons.  I think it is better to reduce it to increase the visibility of the map or enlarge the icons to improve their visibility.
With the two-finger zoom now default in any app I don't think the zoom buttons are needed except in particular use cases.
In this mockup I do not understand if the upper bar will be visible and with which infos.

Of course, the app uses sort-of continuous BT connection , so it might stress BT module little bit more. But it really just uses connection and do not control it. So I am afraid, I really can't do anything regarding its stability. But please let me know if it will be happening repeatedly.
Ok but I do not use app I not confident in while I training. I test it when I have the next walk with my family.

Hi,

thanks for your report. So based on your description, something in your phone crashed during your activity resulting mallfunction of Bluetooth service. I am afraid I can't affect stability of Android OS, the app doesn't do any control of Bluetooth connectivity. You are first to report such issue.
I wear the watch every day, with bt active and devices connected just for have phone notifications, this never happened before.
And ... there is always someone or something that arrives first, in my races is always someone else
