Yeah, DIY and a decent Editor, I prefer Microsoft Visual Studio Code, an awesome editor, even many of my diehard Unix people at work like it.

Attached is the Waymark-V2a theme in two forms:
   - Waymark-V4.xml is converted using the attached version of the v3_to_v4_Waymark.vbs script.
   - Waymark-V4a.xml is after some manual tweaks, read on...

the V4 of the theme is straight out of the script from V2a, with just one customisation to correct a syntax error:

      line = replace_text(line, "case="+Chr(34), "cat="+Chr(34) )

In the screenshots you can see that V4 has a rendering problem with service|raceway roads. I fixed this manually in V4a.

The script pseudo-converts the v3 extensions for rectangle captions using a thick outlined caption, as these are not supported in v4 mapsforge rendering engine.

The other thing you'll notice is when you switch to a v4 map the zoom level is out by 1, and you can see that some items that render at Z16, do not render at Z15, hence screenshot 4 shows them appearing as you zoom in to Z16.

Note that I have not checked if everything else in the theme works or not. But it probably is a good starting point now for getting a v4 map version of the Waymark-V2a theme working, if required.

Without zoom buttons I cannot zoom with one finger. The zoom buttons above the map are not very nice. Why can't the zoom buttons be in the bottom bar as before? For me, this is a worsening improvement.

So short (5-10 minutes) poll for those of you, interest in future of Locus Map: https://forms.gle/ro1xvZoRjwqTnXCP9 .
A pity there is no option in the poll for zoom buttons positioned as currently along the bottom of screen; when cycling I rest of my hand on the bottom of the phone to stabilize, so having those buttons close to other buttons as proposed increases the risk of tapping the wrong button.

Each question could have an extra text box so the user can provide further comments (as above). Maybe too much information?

LoMaps will be converted to MapsForge V4 renderer system, hopefully in the near future (during next year).

Anyway because MF project seems not to be dead like in times I started to write own modded version, I'll instead contribute changes back to the official version.

@poutnikl
thanks Libor, so as I expected, no simple solution. I completely forget on Kalman filter that may be enabled in the time of "averaging" ...

@Viajero Perdido
I'm always glad to read some positive news about recent changes, perfect.
Performance is a little worst, it is a correct observation. Anyway, I see there still few places where performance may be improved so it should be better over time.

Switch of LoMaps to V4 is in road-plan, but not with highest priority.

@Andrew Heard
ah I see it now, thanks for the video. It is an issue caused by incorrectly defined directory in app main settings > Misc > Default directories > set "export" directory. You maybe wrote this before. I still thought that it is incorrectly set an export directory for this single track.

I made tiny improvements here just to display better notification info. Thanks

@Viajero Perdido
- a nice example of blindness (coordinates in GPS averaging) :).
- "averaged" altitude not used in point: good point, improved
- name of this feature & icon: something I've not yet think about too much.

I firstly wanted to add this feature as a replacement for good old GPS averaging. Now we are thinking if this should be Locus Map Free or Pro or even Locus Map (4) feature ... hmm, don't like this kind of decision making. Anyway, warning (sorry to not decide and mention earlier, my mistake): it is possible (not sure) that this feature will be available in public version later in LM4.

@slarti76
yes, it is what you see. Among that, I've united background system so add-ons and internal location sources are in one big grid. It is also possible to enable/disable all available sources under same place. Sorting is possible with drag&drop.

@Andrew Heard
I was able to simulate this "wrong click" once after a few minutes of playing, but never again :/. Anyway, quick scroll slider is not new, it was in app for a long time. Anyway as I see, it disappears even when you drag it, after a moment. I found a way to fix it and also to improve toggling visibility if this scroller is visible ... co next version, thanks!

Autostarts: ah nice, fixed thanks.

@poutnikl
describe it please little more. When I open route planner, then hide the app by "home" button and then again over hope button display list of apps and choose Locus Map, I'm back in route planner. Same does not happen to you?

@balloni55
I've created a new point, saved, then added an attachment and after return back to the map and click on the point, I see label also with photo. This does not work for you?

"Download elevation" button in layout ... ah thanks!

Labels in LoMaps ... well you know there are problems with labels .. and in V3, they are really hard for me to solve. I'll try to reproduce your steps but cannot say I'll be able to do something with it.

@Josef Žajdlík
good point with the screen on in case of a navigation problem. I'm thinking if such a feature should be made automatically or not ... I'll think about it, thanks.

*** New Beta 3.39.3.2 ***

---

Very good point with this "text resize", thanks Viajero. I made a small improvement that should help in most cases, so in the next version 3.39.3.3+.

The latest version of the GPS Averaging app is now serious malware. Even when it's not running, it randomly puts up full screen ads. Even if it has never been run after a phone reboot, the ads still randomly pop up. I have Uninstalled.

Is there another averaging app that integrates with Locus Pro?

@Viajero Perdido:
(a) Taking your starting view as ZL12/100%, tap on the Zoom Lock button. View is now a magnified version of current zoom, say ZL12/1600%.
(b) Tap the [ + ] or [ - ] buttons and the magnification changes but the zoom is locked at ZL12.
(c) Now tap Zoom Lock to turn it off and display reverts to (say) ZL12/100%.
(d) Next time you tap Zoom Lock you will see the map view magnified by the same percentage as you left it with last in (b) above.

To the Locus and OpenAndroMaps community,

I finally adapted also my "desert" theme and created a new "desertV4" theme, which can be used with the new multi-language mapsforge V4 OpenAndroMaps. It is compatible only with these new maps!
Please take the theme as a draft. I am happy for any comments, suggestions and there will be constant improvements.

Dear Viajero,

the display of a cycleway as part of a mixed-use trail (or path) is just an overlay in addition to the trail (path) display itself. To show it more clear I have set the cycleway a bit more transparent and moved it just a tiny bit away from the actual trail (path) display. Maybe this helps. As a cyclist I definitively want to see the cycleway even if it is "misclassified" as "highway=path" + "bicyle=designated".

The change version is on my website (I have double checked).

Regards
Bernard

Dear Viajero,

thanks for the screenshot.
I think I have understood your request. I have found a fix and placed a new version on my website (www.maiwolf.de/locus/). Please check it out.

@Petr
I do not understand yet how these layers affect Mapsforge, but thanks for the explanations.

@Gunnar
I had already found out that it is related to the forest, but still had no time to think of a workaround. Thank you for your workaround. I will take it over.

@All
The changes I will no longer in the HiLo theme but only in the follow-up theme "active RT", if interested can download this on Github.

To the Locus and OpenAndroMaps community,

after many try-and-error runs I was able to adapt my "outdoor" theme and create the new "outdoorV4" theme, which can be used with the new multi-language mapsforge V4 OpenAndroMaps. It is compatible only with these new maps!
In general, I have tried to make the theme identical to the existing "outdoor" theme. Due to problems with many tags used for the configuration of font sizes and priorities, many small changes had to be made. You will find more details (i. e. which tags had to be ommitted) an my website www.maiwolf.de/locus/ [in German].
Please take the theme as a draft. I am happy for any comments, suggestions and there will be constant improvements. Maybe, I will adapt in the future also my existing "desert" theme.
