Quote from: "RChadwick"I'm not going to address a fanatic moron who attacks me for expecting something completely reasonable.

You don't get it, yes?

There's NO map provider which allows downloading map tiles for offline use. DOT! They've all allowed it tacitly. Until now! Until people like you started mass downloading whole countries. Now they are thinking about blocking certain apps like Locus or to disallow it completely.

Therefore (sorry menion), I really hope that you are deinstalling Locus before it gets blocked by the map service providers.

Said the moron!

Quote from: "RChadwick"That's a real shame.

Offline apps for the PC don't have these limitations.

Why do you have to play policeman for Google?

First, it's a shame that people like YOU are abusing the terms of the map providers. People like you are leading to the current situation that nearly all map downloading programs have reduced the ability what and how much to download. Get the newest MOBAC version and you will be surprised that most map sources have been deleted. Why? Because of people like YOU!

menion isn't playing policeman for Google, he's just hindering stupid people like you downloading idiotic masses of tiles. Wouldn't he do that, the map providers would immediately block Locus from every existing map server.

QuoteOnline mode is already blocked for "Wanderreit"  :(

This shows how dangerous the situation is currently for Locus and any other app which allows mass downloading of map tiles!

I agree with menion that adding a daily limit for downloading tiles is a good thing and I disagree strongly with everyone trying to fake the User Agent and any other tricks suggested. This won't make things better!

I also agree that the map providers should think about some sort of 'abo' which would allow the smartphone users to legally download tiles for offline use.

Quote from: "femto"Strange, using the browser interface of geonames.org I can find it without any problem! :?:

Just updated to 1.7.2 and I didn't have any problem to get three correct results if I do an online search for 'Schwäbisch Gmünd'. :!:

Quote from: "menion"hmm fixed, anyway for this text, online search find nothing ... interesting

Hi menion,

just tried an offline search and this is working pretty well!

Quote from: "menion"may you send me better description? which file you search in and exact text you search ... thanks

Oh, sorry, you're right of course!

I've done an online search for 'Schwäbisch Gmünd'.

Searching for GeoNames with german umlauts, Locus crashes reproducible.
#24

Ok, the newest version 1.1.6 seems to work correct now.

Quote from: "berkley"@femto: OMG... have to check spelling mistakes :P I guess you can delete "SE" directory... This happens when you work late at night... sorry!

Not a problem!

BUT, the directory is still wrong, even in version 1.1.5 the last characters are "..._se" while it should be "..._sd".
#27
@berkley: How do you determine the path to the maps directory?

On my SGS it's totally wrong, the error box says "/mnt/sdcard/ecternal_sd", but it should be "/mnt/sdcard/external_sd". To make it even more worse, I can see a new directory on my SD card called "/mnt/sdcard/external_se".

Hi berkeley,

thanks a lot for the fine file!

I'll owe you a beer or two! ;)

Hi jusc,

AFAIK, OpenStreetMap does cache the tiles on their map server. I've done some additions to the map and to see them immediately I had to send a special command to the map server to get my changes rendered.

IMHO, sharing will also be not allowed.

Well said, marlar!

Keep on your good work, menion!

Only cowards want a refund! ;)

BTW, I'm now also back on 1.5.1! ;)
