Andrew Heard!
Sorry, but what kind of tag in the OSM marks these sealed roads?
@Magellan - I included GPS lat/lon in the screen capture if you were interested to see an example.

If you can access OpenStreetMap editor then check @ https://www.openstreetmap.org/edit#map=17/-42.51302/147.64433. South side is "surface" marked "asphalt" and north side is marked "unpaved".

@balloni55 - green dot indicates unviewed notifications.

I just (re)visitied Elevate & Elements. Unlike the other common themes, both do distinguish unsealed from sealed surfaces, but not to the same extent as Desert V4. In my previous screen capture I forgot to mention I have modified Desert to change original yellow/ gray dashes to yellow/ red dashes, so not a entirely fair comparison to OpenAndro themes. Given many common themes have a specific Cycling setting, or even Locus Cycling theme, I don't understand why they don't attempt to distinguish unsealed ways.

I still use the Bernard/ www.maiwolf.de Locus desert V4 theme when I want to distinguish between sealed & unsealed roads. It seems to be the only of my 6+ themes to reliably do this. Attachment - side by side comparison of desert/ voluntary/ Locus themes with OA MF4 map. sealed road - solid yellow, unsealed - red dots on yellow.

Anyway even Andrew even your ideas are not correct solution. Legend have to be dynamically accesible based on selected theme, so it needs to be somewhere close to theme choose and not as another buttons permanently visible in the toolbar.
@menion - sure - that is the optimal "Rolls Royce" solution. I mainly use just a few themes; 1 preset = 1 theme. I could have a PDF of each theme, similar to @karlchick beautiful legend from this topic. At times I have opened a legend PDF in Adobe Reader then just task switch between Locus & Reader. As @freischneider says we make do with workarounds & dream for better some day.

An idea: currently there are 2 types of buttons that can be added to function panels:

  • Add function button
  • Add link to app
How about 3rd type: Add link to  file? This could for this discussion be a PDF map legend file, but could be any useful file in practice.

A pity. This would be a very welcome enhancement.

From a quick search 2 people have asked a similar question, and one suggestion has 23 votes from 4 years ago.

I *think* you are both in agreement! I agree too. Instead of the current 14 Estimated Travel Time profiles (track > More), none of which meet my requirements, it would be much better if a user could define their own. And for @0709 these could be updated over time to reflect "physics". I've always been curious (annoyed) why there is no car profile too, which is inconsistent with default routing profiles.

Themes - Vector maps / Re: [Theme] OS Map

The theme isn't listed when I display a V4 OpenAndoMap of Tasmania (Australia).

The legend PDF is very nicely presented. I would be SO GOOD if Locus team & other theme providers could provide a legend of this exceptional quality.

- route planner > navigation. Starts navigation. If I stop/end navigation and do route-planning again, the last track is understood as 'saved' and therefore cleared ('retain unsaved plan' activated). Nasty if you get into the situation to need to re-setup and further optimise the last track in route planner.. (still did testing with simple test-routes)
@T-mo - just save the route (from route planner menu) before you exit the route planner rather than rely on auto save/ restore. You can edit & further optimise this, or any other, saved route anytime.

@menion - 3.34.0.1 LM4 nice route planner changes. Generate Round Trip function is still ignored though. GPS is disabled.

I have my *.brf files in Locus/data/brouter/ and they work there for both Pro and beta.

Sent from my moto g(6) plus using Tapatalk
I can't explain it. Weird.

Or otherwise.
Is there anybody not using it ? :-)
until this discussion I wasn't aware long-tap on + did anything, probably many Locus hidden gems in same category, but now I know the extra function I think its useful & consistent

I currently have the Alpha installed, Locus\data\brouter method works there as well as in stable.
EDIT: OK, also works in Beta.

@Andrew, are you sure you just didn't put them into the BETAs data-folder? I hate to ask ;-)
thanks for the reply @tapio & thanks for asking - BETAs data-folder? Same folder as PRO?

Instead of Locus/data/brouter I have now moved all brouter/profiles2/*.brf files to Locus/data/brouter/profiles2 & that seems to have worked. Is that the intention?

I have also voted "Long click on "Route type". Long click on + already has a function whereas long click on Route type is currently "unallocated". Definitely no more buttons please. I like the idea of user toggle rather than just one direct segment then revert.
#675
yes, I tried both toggle button positions
