Quote from: T-mo on April 23, 2024, 06:42:55maybe try the package installer (if this is due to permissions) or redownload package?
thanks T-mo. I should have mentioned I had used the package installer first. Sorry for any confusion. APK is 55,678,161 bytes. I downloaded another - same size. I can only assume some weird Samsung/ Android 14 security issue? I uninstalled LM4.23.1 then was able to install ;-)
4.23.1: Backup manager > Manual backup > all points & tracks: all OK except "zzccm, code: 10600":

I have a new Android 14 phone. I have 4.23.1 installed but seem to be having trouble installing the beta. I have Developer options enabled, although now (FYI) for 14+ the setting for Install unknown apps has been moved to Settings > Security & privacy > More security settings, and is enabled on a per-app basis, in my case Solid Explorer. When I tap on the Install button there is a very quick "Staging" progress bar, then the dialog with Update button is displayed (see screen cap below). After tapping Update there is a quick return to the Solid Explorer App Viewer main screen whereas with older Android versions the "installing" screen stayed on for a few minutes. I'm assuming the 53.1MB package is not corrupt. Any suggestions please?

Wrong topic I know, sorry, but charts below (time vs. battery current milliamps each 2 minutes) comparing Locus with just track recording vs. Locus with navigation and track recording. Just thought it was interesting & confirms for battery misers when riding all day why avoiding navigation mode could wring out the life of the battery before it goes flat. Ignore the -250mA spike on the 1st chart - was when camera used, not just Locus running. I have found/ discovered recently that measuring/ logging current with Tasker rather than %level is a better indication of energy usage. At 10:45 in 2nd chart, navigation stopped and was then just track recording.

@menion- I note in v4.23.1 release notes "reduced app refresh in the background when not active" - charts below are for 4.23.0 so would be interesting now to see whether this affects the battery current. Did you make this change to save battery energy?

what map and theme do you use?
which zoom range?
with map rotation?
Quote from: michaelbechtold on April 10, 2024, 21:51:33- map shading?
- dynamic elevation?
  • 2021-11-28 OpenAndroMaps Australia-Tasmania
  • 200m (on ruler) (whatever ZL that is I don't generally view)
  • map rotation:on
  • track recording:on
  • navigation:off
  • map shading:off
  • dynamic elevation:off
  • display is normally off (99.99% of recording time)
No obvious memory leak in 4.23.0 here.
  • Initial memory 153 MB
  • 15m later 154 MB
  • 7h later 211 MB (after tracking recording)

@Tapio - working OK for me.
Troubles & Questions / Re: 4.22.1 Various Bugs?

@TwoSlipsAndAGully - for me (4.22.2), adding manual points (your point #8) works fine (for me) - see 3rd point - the address is correct.

@menion - why the space between the top of screen & the title "X Route planner"?

Quote from: Graf Geo on March 19, 2024, 10:04:32it may be useful to cancel the start process, e.g. if you have started Locus by mistake
quite unconventional; canceling half way through some operation could lead to other problems; I'm thinking the cross is just a relic.

A recent update to the Web Planner allowed map points to be shared but still not user points (just when I wanted to share one). Is this being considered? Vote @

@menion "Missing Select from screen > why do you miss this option? You do it directly in Route planner - picking from the map screen." - I couldn't quote you because the topic was locked.

A few times while testing the new offline route planner I wished there was the option. For example (even in writing this reply) the route planner now shows bottom panel "+ Select start" & "+ Select destination" > I tap Select start > and here straight way I have no option to select an ad-hoc position on the map? Isn't this sufficient reason, and consistent with other places where "Select from screen" is unhidden?

Yes, as you say in your later post, I can tap the map direct, but once the user has displayed the "Select location" list, for whatever reason, I don't see a reason not to display the method.

Just curious - what happens if I tap the cross X? Should the startup Initializing screen have this X?

Installed MapGooglePlay_4.22.0_1126_release.apk and now I'm apparently not a subscribed Premium/ Gold user - what's happened? PS. a few hours later - tapped on main menu > Locus Store, and it fixed the issue. Weird. Never seen this before.

Quote from: freischneider on March 16, 2024, 13:26:53Select location" screen here it could be helpful to add the "Select from screen" item.
@freischneider you just beat me to the same suggestion - thanks.
#27 - the EXPAND/ COLLAPSE seems a nice compromise @menion. Having just 1st & last point in the collapsed list is a good idea.

The left button toggles area/ distance, the right button toggles itinerary/ elevation; can I suggest tapping the 2nd left estimated-time button displays the same as "Estimated travel time" from the Route menu? And maybe in future the "Type" drop down list just has own custom list instead of types mostly of no use ;-)

Could even the remaining two icons become buttons too, and link to display of the full track elevation like in track details? Then viewing slope would finally become possible! Just a dream.
I assume the "setting" (point visibility) is not stored, hence lost on re-load. There are quite a few similar Web Planner "settings" which are lost on re-load ;-(

In fact only stored "setting" is units:

@T-mo - I've mentioned this (stupid far away search results) a few times, but fell on deaf ears. Has never made sense to me either ;-(

"Collapse" in all menus > you are good you've found it at all
@Menion - as I commented previously I don't see this "Collapse" in any menu (not that I want it), but why is that? point #2 is the last point.
