Messages - Andrew Heard

I used to find time to sunset (in top panel) useful when on long rides that continue through afternoon into night, but in scramble to have most useful buttons I now cover up that display with other buttons.

If the country's Lidar-elevation data is Opendata, then maybe. But those of Switzerland, France are not available free. And for Italy (exempt South Tyrol) I'm unsure about the situation. And if Opendata - where to find LiDAR sources of the whole country.
OK thanks for reply. One day...
Top effort @Sonny. I checked some routes I planned in Slovenia a few months ago, and the visual improvement in calculated gradient is amazing. Much less noise too. Are there plans for other countries, for example France, Switzerland, and the remainder of Italy?

Maybe a question for @Arndt, I presume for BRouter to make better routing decisions involving elevation the RD5 files would need to incorporate the new HGT/ GeoTIFF data?

Section can be misleading, as it is unclear what it means. Why not just the old good  (OSM) ways ?
The shift of preferences can be justified by either of being difficult(skills) and being unpleasant(perception).
I think only people familiar with OSM terminology would understand the meaning of "way" in this context. For the majority of english speaking people it reads quite strange. "Section" was more generic, but in new suggestion below "route" reads better to me. There are plenty of other places in Locus where the text could be improved and/or go round in endless discussions for marginal benefit.

Improving grammar & changing the negative (not) into a positive:
"Prefer easier ways when wet weather"
"Prefer easier route when wet weather"

For the explanatory text, maybe "Avoid route that may be difficult in wet weather."
nicely worded, purpose is clear, or Avoid sections that may be more difficult in wet weather?

If there are just few reasoable routes, such profiles can provide the same route.
Would like to see what route @menion would suggest. Certainly the one using this URL seems logical without benefit of any local knowledge.

Pula... my first visit of western countries in 1978 with my parents. Amfiteatr, Brioni, rocky coast, nice western cars..
You probably wouldn't recognise Pula now. All Istria coast is one big marina and accommodation strip ;-(

2. this is weird, should not happen :/. Only main menu has changed? Function panels not? (they share same settings variable).
yes even weirder, problem happens on Samsung Note 3 tablet, but correct buttons/ positions on Sony Z1.

But now after reboot of tablet it is displaying correct buttons/ positions too. hmmm

New BETA version is just uploading to Google Play.
1. I tried menu > More functions > Map items > (no items in list) > tap big + button at bottom > boom (unfortunately Locus has stopped working).

2. position & content of all 6 user buttons on main menu had changed, a little annoying

* On starting the Locus app and clicking the icon at the bottom left to get a GPS fix, while Locus is trying to get a GPS fix, the map is always moved to the same position (no idea why that same position in particular - I don't remember ever setting this position as being something special) no where near where I am, until it gets a GPS fix.
@menion recall this issue by KnightAzul has been seen before, for me at least the map used to be positioned to (0, 0) before a valid GPS fix occurred but you made some changes & I have not had problems like this for many many months.
@Siftersam try Main menu > settings > Track recording > Automatic start = No action.

@menion BTW - this setting could have blue text on Track recording settings screen indicating the current value.
Sounds like you want to disable automatic track recording. Take a look at settings > Track recording.
I agree with Arndt regards new BRouter customization.
Thanks for ability to hide the left track recording button.
Thanks for 2 new track styles and more empty space between icons in other styles. The spacing looks really good now - can see underlying road better.

I often think in Parero's principle 80:20.
Peter, Locus users are not part of the 80% of smartphone map users, those 80% simply use Google Maps and are happy with it.
This is my experience in more than 5 years using Locus and showing it to other people who are surprised what I can do with this smartphone app with the strange name (meaning of Locus in German).
But almost all of them stick with Google Maps though I show them that it misses a lot of outdoor information compared to Vector maps in Locus, route planning with brouter, ...
Locus is and should stay a Swiss Army Knife, only then it is useful in the wild.
