@menion could what you have extensively written above go into some doco page (as soon as possible) you can reference/ link so you don't endlessly answer questions like this. At present https://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?do=search&id=main&q=sync returns no results.

JohnCNA - there has been lots of forum discussion on this topic & was decided object visibility sync'ing is not performed. You are observing correct behavior. ie. visibility remains independent on each sync'd device. (I'm just a user, not associated with Locus)

Silver tier is close to the current Locus Map Pro, but gives few bonuses
@Menion, but also appears to take some routing features away?
LM3.50Pro can use offline BRouter or LM "inner", but LM4 silver can't?
LM3.50Pro can generate alternate routes (recalculate route), but LM4 silver can't?

I have seen the annual prices: 0/10/24.
Gold tier EU24 --> ~$A40 per year AND no family subscription, that is a disappointing  jump from current LM3 Pro pricing ;-(

I'll be the 1st to admit I've had extremely good value from Locus over the years with one app purchase, a few months of live tracking, and very cheap LoMaps. But if our family currently has say 2 phones, 2 tablets, does that mean 4 x ~$A40 each year? 99% of the time just one phone is used. It's a massive increase on the current situation.

I spent (wasted?) quite a while trying to reply to your topic https://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=7255.msg62366#msg62366. It appears it is locked, although as a general comment I can't see any visual indication of "locked" status.

While I'm more an engineer than a marketing guy, my 1st impression was "weird" names, and as I read each post I tend to agree with the various comments. "plain" does sound well... plain/ boring. And Hill/ Mountain as John says are too activity specific. I agree with lor74cas that free/ base/ advanced are boring names, but they better describe the version of locus.

You need to ask marketing people.

Surely SQlite will have performance issues above a certain database file size. If the whole /locus/data/database/tracks.db is normally loaded into RAM then there will eventually be an Android file paging/ swap file issue. My tracks.db  is 266MB in size with 3GB internal RAM and I don't experience any performance issues...yet. But clearly there will come a point where the operating system is continually swapping (thrashing) pages between flash & RAM when the ratio becomes too large. I have all my tracks in folders 2021, 2020, 2019... so I'll "archive" some of the older years some time I guess.

I guess coming from a DBase & other database(s) background nearly 40 years ago, I find it a miracle all this stuff works as well as it does. BTW I notice MSDOS DBase still exists - https://dbaseclassic.com - after all this time.

Sorry, but I don't agree with @lor74cas. I choose Locus exactly because of its extra functionality, otherwise what would distinguish it from the many many other GPS apps out there. The default LM4beta on/offline routing for me works well "out of the box", and the additional/ advanced settings are quite well "tucked away" from the "average" user. Just my 2 cents worth. I do generally use a PC for route planning too, but I don't think that would be any different for any Android GPS app, powerful or simplistic.

Now we have BRouter (internal) & BRouter Online, should the terminology change to BRouter Offline?

Tools / Re: c-me live tracking
January 04, 2021, 21:48:44
Is there any alternative to the c-me website? I had experimented with the (also free) http://www.greenalp.com website but this uses it's own dedicated Android app for uploading position which brings its own complications.

Now that so many buttons can be added to the main menu (settings > controlling > panels > # rows), it would be very useful that buttons could be dragged to change positions. The only way to swap positions at present is to assign an unused (temporary) function to button1, then reassign button2, then reassign button1. Tedious.

if you may just zip it and share it with me, it will be perfect, thanks!
@Menion - do you need track.db though? the compressed database folder with tracks.db = 86MB, without = 237KB - big difference in upload

"Quick action menu" > heh, it was created a long time ago, correct, for CarpeIter controller. It was never officially published and to be true, I'm not sure if it has any extra usage without direct open from the hardware controller. Are you using it?
Quick action menu? It has been in Free & Pro for years? Maybe we are confusing different functions? Function with the lightning bolt icon right? I use it all the time for 8 chosen functions, but in LM4 now with configurable larger # rows of menu, I guess that would be as convenient.

I'm trying to rationalize my map screen space further. Experimenting with auto-hide all panels after 5s. If I configure single tap to show those panels, why does another single tap not then hide those panels?
