Troubles & Questions / Re: gps lost after 40km

I just see that no answer came here. Best to ask in the helpdesk in the future. Answer there for sure

The map orientation during navigation is not optimal. I have the screen off during navigation. Locus turns the screen on briefly when a turn is indicated.
The first thing that happens after switching on: Locus has to align the map first and everything spins. Locus always starts to rotate the map from north. If I drive to the south, it is a lot of turning. After that I am iritated for a while. That's why I have to leave the screen on longer. Which of course costs a lot of battery.
Suggestion: Locus gives turn-by-turn directions based on the distance to the turn, in seconds. Locus could align the map in the background 2-3 seconds before turning on the screen.

plannings for introducing custom buttons in dashboards would improve flexibility and if so, I am with tapio, it should be possible to trigger any kind of action with it, like any other digital (UI) or hardware button would do.

@Menion: when optimizations in LoPoints and search get addressed, I suggest to also use some 2 weeks of collecting/sharing ideas, opinions, needs upfront

Hi, interesting, I do not remember this was ever possible :).

Anyway as I look at it, reading street names is doable. Hmm, is it really useful for hike&bike? For car navigation why not ...

@tapio
thanks for the other test of the dashboard. Damn ... so next attempt, sorry for this.

@luce
align of a content button & zoom buttons > thanks, improved. Small buttons are now aligned to "Map content" button. Big zoom buttons now, but here it does not seems to be so visible = no problem. Btw. nice usage of the "grid"  :D

Scale view > good point, fixed.

@CabrioTourer
ah, M4a was not considered as an "audio" format. Should be fixed, thanks

Not working link > thanks, the problem was in "comma", fixed

@balloni55
Hmm, this is weird. And without NTRIP you are able to get any sats & accuracy? If so, what happens when you enable NTRIP a little later (once you will have valid fix & sats)?

@baegas
If you long click on the app main menu, there is an option "Log to file". If you enable this option and try it again, app should create a log with more info in the Locus/logs directory. This file should help, thanks.

@Andrew Heard
The dark compass button was really a problem with the current red rose. Because of this, I've left it white for now.

@T-mo
- hexagons in semi-transparent buttons > weird right? Some issue in the Android library that is visible only in case, buttons are semi-transparent. I was trying to find and hack on this > but no success so far.

- "lock button" > hmm almost invisible, good point

@luce
search, well ... I do not think there is a need to explain anything. Search is bad in the app and it is something we will work on this!! year for the app and also for the web. What you see is the combined result of the search of the selected search engine and also our own online LoPoints (colored symbols). Thanks for understanding.

No one has commented on the change of Zoom button color in 4.10.0.8. I like it - consistent with other buttons & better contrast, but being such a big visual change I'm hoping there isn't a user backlash & reversion to original color scheme :D
Thoughts on the compass needle button? It's still white. I'm undecided.

I hesitate to (auto) hide the centering button btw only because then the bump in the bottom bar is unnecessary. That makes no sense. It should be evened out or maybe the centering going into the bottom bar.

The logic show/hide in case of the centering button should rather be: "show outside / inside bottom bar"
I would leave the compass white. With black, the red north arrow is hard to see. Poor contrast black and white.

I searched for it for a few minutes. Didn't find. So my question would be: WHERE IS IT? I don't even know what to look for. Eg., I display geotagged photos, but there's no functionality to upload them.

EDIT: Aha I see now - Tap an online LoPoint and extend it with a photo.

*** New Beta version 4.10.0.3 published ***

Finally for the Beta test, a longly awaited feature (at least for me). Option to add your own photo to online LoPoints. I've created a separate topic here.

@Viajero Perdido
Interesting issue with TTS. I've never noticed any problem  :-\

@balloni55
pick of NTRIP caster mountpoint seems to work correctly, but your name & pass does not work to me, so give it a try please, maybe just a typo on my side, thanks.

"Fine-tune" terminology. Why? I guess to distinguish from Route Planner. But imo it's a weird choice. After all, it is a track editor. And e. g. I don't expect split/merge under fine-tune.
OK, we're renaming it to "Edit track". It is more generic than "repair" or "fine-tune" and the tool in which it is done is called "Track editor". Hopefully this will suit the majority.

I suggested "Fine Tune", but it wasn't my first choice.  "Edit Track" would be better (if not causing confusion with "Edit Info"), or "Track Editor" if a noun is appropriate here, or even "Modify Track" which I think was the original text.  "Modify Track" sounds ideal to me.

I'm not sure if nouns are appropriate as menu commands, but there's an advantage to the command being the same as the title of the screen that shows up, eg Route Planner, Track Editor.

*** New Beta 4.9.2.2 *** just published.

Maybe some of you noticed new texts for translation on the Crowdin related to the "NTRIP client". This is something I worked on during last two weeks. It was made mainly for the Locus GIS, but if someone here is skilled to use it, we may discuss about it ;).

Anyway in the Beta: mainly some fixes + a nice new selector for offline LoRouter segments download.

@Sersus
I'm really sorry, but I have no idea how to help here. In case, you use the same setup for both apps, there is nothing more I may do as both apps share identical source code for handling GNSS in the device. All that remains is the black box in the Android > own internal logic that decides which app should be killed.

@CabrioTourer
hmm, I was fixing a few days ago minor issue in separating of tracks and seems that when I use your data for the test, I get correct results now (no change in the time). So maybe try it again with the next version, but for me, it looks like the issue is fixed now. Thanks!

There has been no common ground so far. That is confusing.

- I have 2x Samsung S7, Android 8, DBT region code, factory reset/no factory reset --> problems.
Samsung S7 (Graf Geo), Android 8 --> no problems.

- Samsung S10 (Happy) --> problems
Samsung S10 (Wole and michaelbechthold) --> no problems

other devices with problems :
Samsung S20 and A52s (Happy), S6 S8 S10 S21 ultra (Wole), S7 (Menion),

other devices without problems :
S5 mini Android 6.0.1 (JackRussel), S8 (freischneider), S21 (para), A520 (Andrew Heard)

There is now really no common ground.

Maybe a poll would be useful.
I think for starters (device, Android version, region e.g. DBT/EU, security patch level).

Thanks guys,

I'll think about more obvious switching between modes. For now, I have to simple idea  :)

I've at least improved UI a little bit

Generally I am trying to emulate the look and feel of OS maps with this theme. It will be impossible to exactly match OS maps, since not all features of OS maps are supported by either the source data (OpenStreetMap) or the map creators (e.g. LoMap and OpenAndroMaps).

There is also a difference in how map features are used by the map creators, this is defined by a tag-mapping file. Only the tags in the tag-mapping files can be drawn...

OSM maps include a lot more content than OS maps, and I have added options in the theme to allow displaying addition non-OS content, e.g. Post boxes, hedges etc.

In general I have tried to create similar icons and symbology for non-OS content that are hopefully in keeping with the style of the original OS maps.

I'll take a look at Saddles too. Thanks for the feedback, it is always appreciated. I am working on a massive improvement to the rendering, starting with the v4 theme that mainly supports OAM maps, including v5 maps now.  I'll then be looking to update the LM/v3 map theme...
