I guess many users are rather against paying transactions themselves than against paying itself.

Also, many people are against suspicious at subscription philosophy as seen at big SW players like Microsoft or Adobe, that tend to draw a lot of money per small amounts.

1. hmm point screen is really old and is on top of my priorities right after I get rid of map & LM4 stuff. In the moment you do a tiny change in "new point screen", the back button is equal to "save". The correct system is made in "Track edit screen" and the same needs to be applied here.

2. look on this from the opposite side: on the trip, you are in an interesting place you want to save. And the fact you play with map does not change anything on the fact, that you stand on the place you want to save.

There are situations where the first or second option is useful. Currently, Locus Map use GPS if available. If you do not like this behavior, feel free to change it in the settings > points & tracks > new point default location.

Bringing a paper map to the digital world is not always ideal I think. Here (digital world) we have one powerful information you miss on paper map: your location.

@poutnikl
do you know any other application that sort data by the center of the map? At least Google Maps definitely do not do this. Locus is a little special here.

---

Anyway in config.cfg exists parameter "gui_data_point_list_sort_by_gps" that should affect this. Expect fact it is incorrectly named, it also does not work as expected in all cases, heh.

So in the next version will be in "expert settings" new "Sort data by" settings for this. As I see, we had to discuss this long time ago. My bad > default parameter is already set to "map center", sorry :). So I'll leave it as is.

---

So based on the above paragraph, an important change to keep system same (no matter what I think now): sorting of content in the app will remain by default by "map center". Searching, to keep consistent, will use the same settings, so by default, it will use "map center" as searching center-point. Global agree?

@Andrew Heard
hmm, if possible: give a try next Beta version that will come this week. If there will still be this problem, should be again possible to share with me your current track database + current map coordinates you have? Thanks

@slarti76
hmm I see where this "toast" appears, but to fix it correctly, I need to know steps to simulate it. It should appear only when you try to do something and by some accident, no trackpoint is selected (so it should work only as a rare warning in case of a problem).

Especially regarding custom BRouter scripts, not to be limited to the ones build in to LocusMap.

Discussion/New features / Re: Update of map core (2019)
« on: April 06, 2019, 12:04:11 »
Hi guys,
one month delay ... not too bad I believe.

So who is brave enough to try the new special Alpha version? :)

How to:
Download 3.37.2.4 Map-alpha: https://asamm.myqnapcloud.com/share.cgi?ssid=04Wcqtt
Download 3.37.2.6 Map-alpha: https://asamm.myqnapcloud.com/share.cgi?ssid=0H4qEQX
Download 3.37.2.7 Map-alpha: https://asamm.myqnapcloud.com/share.cgi?ssid=0qcpBbS

Version is based on 3.37.2 + latest fixes + months of work on new "map core".

What to test:
Best: use as you usually do with the regular version.

I mainly try to achieve:
- better support for MapsForge V4 maps
- the good old Map manager that looks exactly the same as in current public version (it use different map system on background)
- improved suggested maps in "Quick map switch"
- better display of raster maps on devices with higher DPI
- correct work of overlays

@menion @Andrew Heard
It would appear that this is connected with certain historic data.
- Some tracks show zero distance away when sorted by "nearness" but some do not.
- For some of these "zero distance" tracks, clicking on the mini-map to move to the track's location and display it means that the distances are correct on reopening the tracks screen. However closing the app and reopening it resets distances to zero, as does re-sorting the tracks or moving to current location.
- For others of the "zero distance" tracks, the above has no effect.
I'll email my backup.

Live tracking / live-tracking.locusmap.app web page

Usefulness and my acceptance of the locus livetracking would be bigger, if there wasn't wasted space on the target website. I can understand you need to sell Locus client, but still, enthusiasm may not arise from bad websites. As much map space as possible, please! A floating hamburger menu and "buy locus" only inside the menu please.
Also that center/right info extender is too huge.
I'm obviously talking about the smartphone interface.

You must make something really good, because otherwise the Whatsapp+Google maps livetracking is the preferred solutuin for people.
IMO.
Last note: It improved, I have seen it. But needs to be better.

I confirm that the display map issue has been resolved.
Today, while riding my bike, I felt that the dashoboard slope was more accurate than last year. Instead of SRTM data, Locus would have taken the data from the barometer. Is it just my feeling or has there been a change over the past six months?

Hi,

I want to edit an existing theme like "Elevate". What I want is, I want to have Parking on top of everything else no matter what. So that I can easily find parking spaces.
Because currently, I changed it to display from ZL15 onwards. But still in some zoom levels "P" symbol  is shown, then in another it is not shown because something else is displayed.

So, how is Priority done? Where do I want to look for documentation. "Mapsforge themes" is that the topic?

Look, there's XML stuff like this...

Thx!

Code: [Select]
    <rule e="any" k="amenity" v="parking" zoom-min="15">
<rule e="any" k="access" v="private|destination|acc_no">
<symbol src="file:/ele_res_l/s_parking_private.png" />
</rule>
<rule e="any" k=" " v="~">
<symbol src="file:/ele_res_l/s_parking.png" />
</rule>
<rule e="node" k="*" v="*" zoom-min="14">
<caption k="ele" dy="28.1" font-size="9" font-style="bold" fill="#0092DA" stroke="#FFFFFF" stroke-width="2.00" />
</rule>
</rule>

Priority is a terrible thing in Locus. Like, on a world map, it does not display "New York City", but it loves to display "Dead dog memorial of an unknown NYC citizen", or "Saint George Kindergarten". etc etc

Discussion/New features / Update of map core (2019)
« on: February 16, 2019, 13:05:25 »
One of the major problems with maps are caused by really really old system how the app works with map files, online maps, the system for rendering map tiles etc. I decided to update this system to try to solve most of the major problems.

Main info: to test changes is needed special ALPHA version. Currently not yet published, plan is on start of March. Subscribe to receive new information once ALPHA is ready for the test.

Current major visible changes

Implemented
  • automatic scaling of all raster maps based on device DPI
  • support for custom HDPI online maps, more info

In progress/preparation
  • features related to MapsForge V4 maps, more info

- problem with tap on buttons in POI alert solved. I've also improved icon so it will be in function panel green in case, POI alert is running. Thanks for tip.

- attachments, understand. Little problem. The forum already refuses some updates because it's old, we use old server infrastructure ... needs major update :/

Themes - Vector maps / Re: [Theme] Voluntary UK
« on: January 02, 2019, 00:38:58 »
New version available in the first post in this thread.
The most significant changes are revisions to dashed lines for better compatibility with devices with later Android versions and the incorporation of Mapsforge v4 (multilingual) versions.
Plus, of course, numerous other small tweaks and improvements.

Good day John,
you are right. World vector map from Locus Store is built-in into improved MapsForge V3 system and is rendered little bit different than system suggested by Michael (with automatically selected optimized theme and some other minor improvements).

Anyway, I will have to ask for little patience. For some time, I work on improved system how will Locus Map handle maps and one of the changes will be united system how world map will be handled. And correct (and only) behavior will be as suggested Michael. But you will definitely notice this change (hopefully somewhere in February). Thanks for understanding.

Complains about magnifier: I personally found it useful, which is why I do not see problems related to it. Any suggestion how to visualize moving point better?
My most prefered way of moving things is per map center position. Because there we have the best overview and we can zoom. Move per map center: Which is currently too far away.
I think a dedicated "move mode" would be awesome, which, if map center is close to the track, automatically  highlights either waypoints or, if somewhere in the track, the closest trackpoint. Highlight by just hovering it.
In this mode, there should be a hand button, which toggles between holding and releasing that point.
And on releasing, if it was just a trackpoint, auto create a WP. Movement of points by moving map.

Just my 2c. Because I am convinced, moving points - doing track corrections - is most essential.

Complains about magnifier: I personally found it useful, which is why I do not see problems related to it. Any suggestion how to visualize moving point better? Btw. drag&drop works, it is just needed to move with point immediately, do not wait (otherwise long-click is performed and here comes bug).
The magnifying glass is a nice piece of software, it certainly produces an effect of amazement in the user when first used.
But for example, if you have to move the point on the top or left edges of the screen becomes uncomfortable because the lens leaves the screen, also happens rarely that the possibility of moving the point is not activated.
I prefer to select a track point and from the command menu choose move, then move the point and confirm the new position. In this way I use the zoom already present or the two-finger mode, it is much more precise and the procedure remains the same. This is just my point of view, for sure there are users with habits or maybe different devices that prefer the magnifying glass.
