Locus Map / Re: [APP] - version 4.9.+ ( 04/2022 )
« on: May 18, 2022, 16:49:45 »
Good point this I forgot. In my original route it will be 30 min longer after adding the via point. Might be because Locus calculates a stop with driver change and waiting for another vehicle to pass ;)

@Andrew Heard
it will be probably correct. The problem is in the visible distance below the item title. I'll improve it.

"line to nav. target" - ah you are correct. I'll inherit color from the navigation route style

The issue with notification > hmm I'm heavily pushed to the completely new map manager (that was partially done, but never finished), so ... anyway thanks  :)

an old problem with the color of icons I've never solved.
I've at least added a quick fix > next time you pick an "Internal icon", it will be colored to match the style of the text.

PiP > thanks all for the feedback. I did a few improvements over the weekend so in the next Beta, it will be a lot better!

What exactly is the problem with the WMS map in this post? When I play with it, all seems to work correctly.

Recorded speed > this is an old problem with detection of the "not moving" behavior. You are correct that the app currently simply records a speed value received from the GNSS unit. What should be done is to, based on the device sensors (or by attached speed sensor), register movement and based on this modify speed values. The task to do.

Disappearing points: this sounds like a serious issue. There were no changes in the database system for a very long time. Hmm, sorry, no idea.

Restoring recording after crash: Do you mean the small "rec" button on the left above the menu & map content buttons? Interesting, I'm trying to simulate it and it is always correctly restored to the red button with small green <> white animation in the inner circle.

PiP is available only since Android 8+, sorry I forget to mention this.

WMS > which layers you have enabled? All I've tried looks ok, thanks.

thanks for the description. You are right, current behavior is really weird. I'll look at it.

I did some benchmarks and spend some time on it.
Result: agree that difference is significant. Even that detailed shading is around 60% slower, I've moved limit from the zoom level 12 to 15! You will see in the next app version.

Good luck to all near friends from the not too far east!

And we all others who have peace at home for now ... new Beta with one big nice addition for Gold users (satellite maps), enjoy it.

And one big negative message as well. Google just yesterday removed support for "All files permission (AFA)" also for Locus Map 4  :-[ ... so from now, I'll be always generating also two versions of the Locus Map 4. For me, it means investing some time and improving app behavior without the AFA. Sorry and thanks for understanding. Current public versions are unaffected by this.

sharing a photo, hmm, I'll look at it ...

I've today published a new version of the Locus Map 4 on Google Play. Today only for 25% of users, rest in next days. If anyone wants to test & play with it (or with the Locus Map Pro version), they are all already available on Google Drive!

Just for your info, why I do not communicate often as usual. Well, winter, some team planning, family require also some more time now, some illness and working on the system for one-time payments that consume most of my (not just) time. So nothing special and unusual, but just informing that app is still in progress   8)

Stay all healthy and don't be too much hidden at home like me, it does not worth it  ;)

"_themes" is an ugly name, also having all user content beside each other (themes, vectormaps, srtm...) is good for external backup. Better order, easier to find...

Theme attached.

Other features / Re: Android 11+, changes

I am not sure you understand the risk Locus and Asamm are in.
Pointing to voting is denying intelligence. Why?
Take the max voted topic, and divide it by the number of users you have. How many zeroes behind the dot - before a non-zero digit appears?
In other words: your risk is the unknown, and the invisible. And pointing to a hence meaningless voting is slapping those unseen > 1000000 users in the face.
Now, let's employ some intelligence. Proposing people buy new phone with more capacity - even as a joke - is not. Do you agree?
Another fact is, that most Androids are NOT Pixels. But rather the majority employs external SD card support, to allow for cheaper storage extension. For mass storage eaters like maps, e.g.
Then take Michal's advise (no DBs on SD, please). Put everything together, and employ your own proven intellect.

The pattern (at least) is 4 very experienced users now report the same issue. That's a good start.
I created a Helpdesk entry for it:

Thanks guys. I've probably found the error. Will try to publish a new version today (in the worst case tomorrow).

I have been using your app with great pleasure for several years and for a ridiculous price !

The subscription you are asking to pay, for me, is just a thank you for all these years and for those that come, thanks to the result of your wonderful work.

I just want to say that I'm looking forward to a new version of Locus Map. I have been using LM4 for a while (demo) and I am very happy.

When it comes to pricing the app, I think you have been quite generous considering that Locus Pro can still be used, and will be maintained further.

I bought the Pro several years back, pretty cheap. And when I think about how much I have enjoyed the app, I think I have paid too little. (Once I even bought some LoCoins that I did not need, just to contribute a little). I understand that it costs to develop the app, and I happily pay some euros a year, in exchange for the program beeing continuously improved and developed.

Thank you for the work you do, and congratulations on the new launch!  :)

Locus Map 4, prep (Archived) / Re: Locus Map 4, discussion (beta)
« on: March 09, 2021, 10:56:52 »
I probably fixed this today morning. Locus Map maybe starts instantly, but part of the sync system was already killed, and restoring of this system was done a moment later than another part of the app needed. In the next version it should be ok, thanks!

visible track > sync > track updated and no longer visible ... good observation, this probably happens. Little more complex to solve, but added to my to-do list, thanks!

The problem with the not visible track during recording should be fixed in the next version. App now uses more aggressive optimization for drawing content on the screen and the track was incorrectly detected as "not visible".

Thanks for the video, appreciate it!
- selection improved: the app will first try to find the nearest active point (green dot). If none is found, the nearest middle point (red dot) will be used. In the current version, sorting by distance from click was not correct.
- invisible handling points > hmm another side-effect of new optimization. Thanks, fixed!

a) yes, that's what I tried to wrote > already implemented

A simple long-tap on the map screen does not display the bottom dialog?

I've never seen a recording button in the system bar when the recording was not active. It technically does not make sense. Any steps to reproduce it?

Permission to "Always use GPS even in the background" is complicated. What you see is best what the app can do. The app should not force users to enable "Use in background" settings, anyway, you should already see a warning dialog with "To navigate or record a track with the display off ..." text. Do you see it when starting recording and this option is disabled?

@Andrew Heard
long tap in point detail is not so simple like in Track editor, I was already looking at it. Anyway, I'll maybe improve it a little bit ...
